The lane will be closed through Friday, May 16. Please expect delays.<\/p>\n<p>This closure is part of the Jamestown Sewer Project.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Darrell Hournbuckle with Interstate Engineering at (701) 252-0234.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, (CSi)\u00a0 Today\u00a0 (Monday, May 12,\u00a0 2014) releases from the Jamestown and Pipestem dams will\u00a0be adjusted due to recent rainfall amounts in the James River Basin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin,\u00a0with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says the release from Pipestem Dam will be\u00a0cut to 5\u00a0cfs, and\u00a0releases from Jamestown Dam will increase to 445 cfs, for a combined release of 450 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>Before Monday,\u00a0releases from Pipestem Dam are at 50 cfs with 400 cfs from Jamestown Dam.<\/p>\n<p>Martin said officials are attempting to have Jamestown Dam at its conservation pool, or normal level, of 1,431 feet mean sea level by June 1, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The water level atJamestown Dam was at 1,433.7 feet msl as of 1 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The water level\u00a0at Pipestem Dam\u00a0was at 1,457.7 feet and is rising about 4 inches per day.<\/p>\n<p>The releases at Jamestown Dam have remained steady for much of the past week with outflows roughly matching inflows.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0Jamestown Dam reaches conservation pool, releases will decrease\u00a0there and increase at Pipestem Dam.<\/p>\n<p>Martin says release plans are based on average rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>Any heavy rainfall may require increased releases to reach the target reservoir levels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a residential natural gas leak call about 1:16-p.m., Friday\u00a0at 619 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Street Southwest.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy City Fire Chief Jerry Kainz says the home owner bumped the gas meter doing yard work when starteled by a garder sneak in the yard.<\/p>\n<p>The gas leak was minor, and the city fire department called Montana Dakota Utility to go the scene as they headed for the home.<\/p>\n<p>No damages or injuries reported with four city fire units and 24 city fire fighters on the scene about nine minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation (BCTF) has revealed its new tourism brand for city of Jamestown. Searle Swedlund, executive director of the BCTF, announced the new direction during a community event where the \u201cDiscover Jamestown\u201d logo was revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Arts Center was transformed into an outdoor experience to showcase all the ways the new brand will create a compelling invitation for visitors. Crews will also pickup couches, chairs, furniture, shrubs, branches and wood.<\/p>\n<p>Paint and liquid material can be disposed of in a dry, hardened form.<\/p>\n<p>Cat litter or sawdust can be used to absorb the liquid. Leftover paint will be accepted at the landfill during cleanup week.<\/p>\n<p>Appliances can be taken to Truck and Auto Salvage or Valley Recycling Center.<\/p>\n<p>There may be a fee for refrigeration or freezing units with freon.<\/p>\n<p>Items that will NOT be picked up includes\u2026. tires, batteries and scrap metal. with tires taken to the transfer station, cash only for the disposal fee.<\/p>\n<p>Batteries can be dropped off at the salvage yards or Valley Recycling Center.<\/p>\n<p>Scrap metal can go to Valley Recycling Center.<\/p>\n<p>Items should be put into boxes, bags or cans not to exceed 32 gallons or 50 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>There is free disposal of grass, leaves, branches, trees, used motor oil and metal at the Transfer Station year \u2018round.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(CSi) The Bloom Township Board of Supervisors has denied a zoning permit needed by the city of Jamestown for landfill expansion. The planned expansion is adjacent to the current location.<\/p>\n<p>Bloom Township Chairman Roy Werner, voted in favor of the zoning permit while Township Supervisors Duane Haskin and Jim Bredahl voted in opposition.<\/p>\n<p>Those voting against awarding the permit wanted more information on the road used to bring garbage from the garbage bailer to the landfill.<\/p>\n<p>Residents near the road said traffic to and from the current landfill caused excessive dust.<\/p>\n<p>If the township approves the zoning permit, the city of Jamestown would then need to seek approval from the North Dakota Health Department for a landfill permit<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>MAPLETON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities believe a buildup of heat started a fire in a dryer at a feed mixing facility near Mapleton.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Cass County sheriff&#8217;s deputy spotted smoke at Westway Feed Products about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters from Mapleton and Casselton responded and quickly put out the fire before it spread to any buildings.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Damage is estimated at under $1,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Firefighters believe a blaze that damaged a Bismarck home was started in a compost bin on a porch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 Firefighters responded to the blaze on Friday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters extinguished the blaze and prevented it from extending to the rest of the building.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $35,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A company accused of falsely advertising the health benefits of its nationally distributed Dreamfields Pasta has agreed to pay $5 million to consumers as part of a class-action settlement. The complaint accuses Carrington, North Dakota-based Dakota Growers Pasta and its parent company of making bogus claims that the product was a low-carbohydrate alternative to traditional pasta.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Elementary students in Williston say their First Amendment rights are being threatened by their school after they began protesting their district&#8217;s decision to fire a janitor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The students and families say teachers at McVay Elementary School are trying to prevent the students from circulating a petition to reinstate Manuel Aguilera, even when the children are only collecting signatures during breaks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school says Aguilera was fired for being confrontational with the staff. The parents and children argue Aguilera was improperly let go.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sabrina Hanson is one of the students involved in the effort to get Aguilera his job back. (AP) &#8211; The Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has elected a new bishop.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Rev. Terry Brandt was elected Sunday. He had been an associate to Bishop William Rindy, who did not seek a second six-year term. (AP) &#8211; The state Agriculture Department has scheduled this year&#8217;s round of Project Safe Send chemical collections around North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The program gives state residents a way to dispose of unusable herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides and fungicides free of charge. It&#8217;s funded by fees that pesticide manufacturers pay to register their products in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This year&#8217;s collections begin July 8 in Forman and end July 25 in Hillsboro. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Public Service Commission is holding a public hearing on a proposed wind farm project in Stark and Morton counties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The facility by Sunflower Wind Project LLC would consist of 59 wind turbine generators on about 12,700 acres of private land.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project would include access roads, electrical collection systems and cabling, an operation and maintenance building, a substation, and an interconnection yard with a transmission line.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company hopes to start construction in early 2015.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The schedule for the hearing includes a presentation by the company, questions from commissioners, and comments from the public.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Hebron Community Center.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
