Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police wants to warn Jamestown residents regarding a convicted sex offender living with city limits.<\/p>\n

50 year old Timothy Alan Taxis is a white male, five feet six inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with hazel eyes and blond hair.<\/p>\n

He currently resides at the Starlight Motel, 1610 Business Loop East #2, Jamestown.<\/p>\n

His vehicles are a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker ND Lic. JZR252 and a 1985 Dodge Ram 2 door, ND Lic. GEA590.<\/p>\n

Taxis was assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

On July 25, 2001 he was convicted of indecent exposure in Stutsman County in connection with an incident involving two 11 year old girls in a park, and then following them in a vehicle. Disposition 30 days.<\/p>\n

On April 29, 1998 he was convicted in Stutsman County, of indecent exposure involving two female employees of a video store. Disposition 30 days in jail, 24 days suspended.<\/p>\n

On May 2, 1994 he was convicted in Stutsman County of gross sexual imposition on three occasions in one week, exposing himself to young girls in the area of a tennis court, on one occasion forcing one of the girls into a sexual act. Disposition 7 years, with 3 years, 6 months suspended.<\/p>\n

Taxis is not wanted by police at this time, and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) held an Executive Committee meeting Monday, followed by the full board meeting.<\/p>\n

JSDC\u2019s Marketing\/Workforce Developer, Holly Miller says, at the Executive Committee meeting the panel discussed funding from the Economic Development Incentive fund to pay for extending the rail spur at the Spiritwood Energy Park to the new adjacent purchase of the Klose property.<\/p>\n

She added the amount is not to exceed $150,000. The work with DMVB will include earth moving and other work, as the project will include improvements to the infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Following that meeting the JSDC\u2019s full Board of Director\u2019s met.<\/p>\n

Ms. Miller says the board heard a request from Buffalo City Diesel to change their request from a pace to a flex pace incentive funding package.<\/p>\n

The request of funding from the Incentive Fund was approved.<\/p>\n

The action will move to the Jamestown City Council and Stutsman County Commission for consideration.<\/p>\n

She points out the JSDC\u2019s Strategic Plan is still in the process of being worked on in the area of priorities and the role of JSDC. Developers at the meeting provided input. The JSDC board members will attend the May 21, 2014 Housing meeting from 1-4-p.m., at the Center For Economic Development, a the lower level conference room. When completed the plan will move forward to the Jamestown City Council and Stutsman County Commission for consideration.<\/p>\n

The topic will then be brought up at the next JSDC Executive Committee meeting, on May 27th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

In other business, “Sight Selector” Magazine, a top publication for sight selectors has named JSDC one of the top ten micropolitian economic groups of the year, in the United States.<\/p>\n

She pointed out, the University of Jamestown will hold a Day Camp July7-11, 2014<\/p>\n

with 20 students on hand, who will from their own “town” including forming a town council, and build and operate virtual businesses. The JSDC and Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce is developing the camp in conjunction with Barry Striegel, the Director of the North Dakota Entrepreneurship Education Program with the IDEA Center in Business. During the camp entrepreneurs and community leaders will be invited to attend and listen the people involved.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Planning Commission has denied a zoning request by Neal Klein for property at 1500 and 1510 11th Ave. NE.<\/p>\n

Klein requested the zoning of the property be changed from R-3, general multiple-dwelling district, to C-2, general commercial district. He said he planned to construct heated storage and office space on the lots, which was not allowed under R-3 zoning.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Falkers, planner for SRF Consulting, recommended denying the zoning change, pointing out that the lots in question were surrounded by apartment buildings. Three of the property owners adjacent to the lots also protested the change.<\/p>\n

The Planning Commission will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. May 22 at City Hall concerning zoning changes for the planned Menards and Metroplains project.<\/p>\n

WAHPETON (AP) The vice-president of academic and student affairs at the state college of science in Wahpeton says school administrators were not told early on that a missing student was accused of dealing marijuana.<\/p>\n

A warrant has been issued for 20-year-old Andrew Sadek who\u2019s been missing for more than a week. Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky says he only learned of the warrant a week ago, but the information was withheld. Sadek is accused of selling small amounts of marijuana to an undercover informant about a year ago.<\/p>\n

The search for Sadek has been suspending, pending any additional leads.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Airline boardings in North Dakota continued to set records in April.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Aeronautics Commission says 94,720 people boarded planes at the state’s eight large airports, up 14 percent over the year. Airports in Dickinson, Williston, Minot, Fargo and Grand Forks all posted their best passenger numbers on record for the month.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dickinson saw the biggest percentage increase over April 2013, of 221 percent. Fargo had the biggest increase in actual passengers, with 6,411 more boardings.<\/p>\n

SkyWest airline service begins in Jamestown on June 5th.\u00a0 Jamestown Regional Airport Manager, Matt Leitner says nearly 300 reservations have been made through either travel agents or at united.com<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A judge has set bond at $25,000 cash for a Tioga man accused of threatening three people with a gun in Bismarck and pointing the weapon at police.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-three-year-old Colton Wooten faces felony charges of terrorizing and reckless endangerment, as well as misdemeanor weapons charges. He could face up to 32 years in prison if convicted on all of the counts.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wooten was arrested early Saturday after a police officer shot at him but missed. He made his initial court appearance on Monday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the weekend incident happened after Wooten had been at a bar.\u00a0 Wooten said in court on Monday that he had been drinking but is not a violent man. He said he moved from Texas last year in search of work.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Bismarck police say a man who detectives had questioned regarding an armed robbery at a pharmacy has been released because of insufficient evidence.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officers responded to The Medicine Shoppe around 10:15 a.m. Monday after receiving calls about a man threatening an employee with a knife. The man fled on foot into a nearby apartment building but was arrested after leaving the building.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Department of Mineral Resources spokeswoman Alison Ritter says the well is protected by a confidentiality agreement, so her office can only confirm that a spill has occurred and give the general location of the well and its owner. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota officials are trying to raise awareness of the emerald ash borer and prevent its spread into the state, which has about 78 million ash trees.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The beetles have killed millions of ash trees in several states including Minnesota. North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the pest is now widespread in Minneapolis-St. Paul, and given the traffic on Interstate 94 between North Dakota and the Twin Cities it will be difficult to keep the bug out of North Dakota.

University of Jamestown head men’s basketball coach Justin Wieck has submitted his resignation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the opportunity that Lawrie Paulson (UJ Athletic Director) and the University of Jamestown gave me and my family two years ago,” Wieck says. “We have loved our time at the University and in the community of Jamestown.\u00a0 This program is set up for future success with the quality of student athletes returning for the future.\u00a0 My utmost appreciation goes out to my assistant coaches and players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wieck coached the Jimmies to a spot in the NAIA National Tournament in 2013. The Jimmies won the inaugural North Star Athletic Association Conference Championship this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the two years that Coach Wieck spent at the University of Jamestown,” Paulson says. “Justin did a good job for us. I am most appreciative of the manner in which he took care of our student athletes. We wish him well with his future plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Park Board discussed a new disc golf course.<\/p>\n

Tom Bruns, of Jamestown, requsted the commission to consider creating a new nine-hole disc golf course in McElroy Park. There are two disc golf courses currently available in Jamestown, a nine-hole course in Anton Klaus Park and an 18-hole course on the island in the Jamestown Reservoir.<\/p>\n

The commission will add Bruns\u2019 request to its June 9 meeting agenda.<\/p>\n

Park Board member, Joyce Heinrich, says the dog park, located on property behind Don Wilhelm\u2019s on Business Loop West could also be the site of a disc golf course.<\/p>\n

VALLEY CITY (VCSU CSi) – Valley City State University men’s basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky announced today that Riley West has signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and play basketball for the Vikings this fall.<\/p>\n

A 6-foot point guard, West is a native of Lakeville, Minn., and just completed his second year of collegiate basketball at St. Cloud Technical and Community College (Minn.).<\/p>\n

West was a 2-year starter at St. Cloud Tech. and helped lead the team to a 22-6 record this past season. He averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 34 percent on 3-pointers and 78 percent on free throws.<\/p>\n

Kaminsky says, “We are impressed by Riley’s approach to things both on and off the court. We were especially impressed by Riley’s competitive toughness. We are looking forward to the leadership that he will bring to our program.”<\/p>\n

West leaves St. Cloud with eight school records to his name, including most points in a game (36) and most assists in a game (13). He also holds career records for assists, 3-pointers made and free throws made.<\/p>\n

St. Cloud Tech., Head Coach, Andrew Cone says, “Riley was always a player that I could count on to bring great effort everyday he was on the court. He is a solid leader, and an outstanding young man. I am excited for him as he takes this next step in his basketball career.”<\/p>\n

West played his high school basketball at Lakeville South High School (Minn.). He is the son of Jason and Susan West.<\/p>\n

West is VCSU’s first signed transfer for the 2014-15 season.<\/p>\n

He joins high school seniors Briton Bussman (G, Milnor, N.D.), Jayden Ferguson (F, Williston, N.D.) and Alex Quist (G, Bismarck, N.D.) as signed recruits for next season.<\/p>\n

Valley City State University posted a 14-14 record in 2013-14. Under Jeff Kaminsky, the Vikings are 149-115 and have posted 20-win seasons in four of the past seven years. In 2012-13, Kaminsky led the Vikings to their first NAIA National Tournament appearance since 1987.<\/p>\n
