HIGHS IN THE LOWER 50S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), has released it preliminary results, in the investigation of the airplane crash, that took the life of legendary Kindred, North Dakota aviator, Bob Odegaard.<\/p>\n<p>The report says, Odegaard was piloting his 1945 vintage Corsair aircraft that was about 100 feet above ground level, and then hit the ground in a 10-degree nose down, wings-level attitude.<\/p>\n<p>He was performing a barrel roll, when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Odegaard was killed September 7, 2012, while practicing for an air show that was to be held the next day, at the Barnes County Municipal Airport.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday this week, searchers found a memory card contained in a camera mounted on his plan, in hopes the images might help in the crash investigation, which is continuing, by the Federal Aviation Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Former North Dakota National Guard commander Mike Haugen was a longtime friend of Odegaard\u2019s, and he helped to look for the card.<\/p>\n<p>Haugen says the crash probe will take a long time to finish.<\/p>\n<p>He says it will include an autopsy and an analysis of the plane\u2019s wreckage.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with photos, is asked to contact the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Photos may include the plane in flight, on the ground or during the crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The annual Jamestown Rotary Club\u2019s &#8220;Rose Sale,&#8221; is underway.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s (Sept 27, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Rotary Club member, Qunicy Backen said, a dozen roses may be purchased from any Jamestown Rotary Club member, or any Jamestown soccer player by October 12, 2012, for a cost of $15 per dozen.<\/p>\n<p>The ticket(s) then redeemed on Saturday October 13, 2012, at either Don\u2019s House of Flowers locations, at 1107 7the Avenue, Southeast, or at the Buffalo Mall.<\/p>\n<p>Backen said the proceeds will go to support Camp Rokiwan, in cooperation with the Jamestown Kiwanis Club, and the &#8220;Book It,&#8221; program for elementary students.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds will also go toward capital improvements at the Jamestown High School, Rotary Soccer Field, and the James River Family Y\u2019s, &#8220;Strong Kids,&#8221; campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0PORTAL, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two Canadian citizens with felony warrants<br \/>\nfor their arrest were apprehended as they tried to illegally enter<br \/>\nthe United States by hiding in a railroad car.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Customs and Border Protection office in Portal<br \/>\nannounced Thursday that 28-year-old Lorraine Houle and 23-year-old<br \/>\nJean Corriveau were apprehended last week after they were detected<br \/>\nby a Customs x-ray station.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities then determined the two had<br \/>\nfelony warrants in Canada and were in possession of drug<br \/>\nparaphernalia.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The individuals were turned over to Canadian Border Services<br \/>\nAgency and arrested by Canadian Pacific Railway Police.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man accused of punching a police officer<br \/>\non the Standing Rock Indian Reservation has been sentenced to seven<br \/>\nmonths in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bruce Flying Horse, of Cannon Ball, pleaded guilty in June to<br \/>\nassaulting a federal officer. Authorities say he struck an officer<br \/>\nin the chin while he was being arrested for a domestic disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland says the 23-year-old Flying<br \/>\nHorse must spend six months in a halfway house when he is released<br \/>\nfrom prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flying Horse faced a maximum penalty of eight years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The University of North Dakota&#8217;s president<br \/>\nsays he&#8217;s happy with a new settlement that allows the Ralph<br \/>\nEngelstad Arena to keep most of its Fighting Sioux logos.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Robert Kelley says the agreement between the NCAA and Attorney<br \/>\nGeneral Wayne Stenehjem removes the threat of NCAA sanctions<br \/>\nagainst UND&#8217;s athletics teams.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND dropped the nickname because of complaints that it was<br \/>\noffensive to American Indians. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Land Board has awarded $4<br \/>\nmillion in grant money to enhance public safety in the state&#8217;s<br \/>\noil-producing counties.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The board on Thursday approved 66 grant applications to add<br \/>\nsupport for law enforcement personnel, firefighters and emergency<br \/>\nmedical services in counties experiencing rapid growth from the oil<br \/>\nboom.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The matching grants include $200,000 for a new ambulance<br \/>\nbuilding in Watford City and $125,000 for the city of Williston to<br \/>\npurchase fire suppression equipment.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The grants are part of the state&#8217;s $135 million Energy Impact<br \/>\nGrant Fund, which was created to help with issues created by the<br \/>\nrapid oil and gas development.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Grand Forks maker of wind turbine<br \/>\nblades plans to lay off more than 300 workers.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The reductions amount to more than half of the work force at the<br \/>\nLM Wind Power plant. The company is based in Denmark.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A company statement says the layoffs are happening because<br \/>\ndemand for wind power development is down. Congress also may not<br \/>\nrenew a federal tax break that benefits the wind industry.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LM Power says it will lay off 200 full-time production workers<br \/>\nin Grand Forks, 130 temporary workers and contractors, and about 15<br \/>\nadministrative staff people. They&#8217;ll stay on the job until the end<br \/>\nof November.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company had 900 employees in Grand Forks five years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A West Fargo BMX bike track is being<br \/>\ndisplaced by a softball field.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The president of the West Fargo BMX Association says members are<br \/>\nlooking for an alternative location for a new bike track.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne Larson says the group doesn&#8217;t have much money, and land is<br \/>\nexpensive.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The track has operated in West Fargo&#8217;s South Elmwood Park for<br \/>\ndecades. The BMX association held its last race at the park last<br \/>\nweekend.
