\"tornado\"<\/a>Jamestown (CSi) A strong weather system that included funnel cloud sightings in Stutsman County early Sunday evening led to at least three tornado warnings.<\/p>\n

The funnel cloud was first reported in the Eldridge area, that reportedly touched down, (see photo) in the 7-p.m. hour, and slowly moved at 8 mph east toward Jamestown. The Tornado Sirens sounded in Jamestown, and the CSi Cable interrupt system was activated by the National Weather Service, and the Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown, along with CodeRED phone alert system, alerting residents to take cover. During the same time period, areas in the county, including north central Stutsman County (and southern Foster County) and central, and southeast Stutsman and northern LaMoure Counties were under tornado warnings, the last expiring at 8:30-p.m.<\/p>\n

During the warnings, the public reported a funnel cloud forming over southwest Jamestown and moving to the southeast.\u00a0 That was not officially confirmed.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office confirmed a tornado touchdown northwest of Jamestown.\u00a0\u00a0Tornado warnings were issued for Buchanan, Montpelier<\/p>\n

No initial reports of damage, however the warnings were followed by heavy rain in thunderstorms that officially dropped 1.15 inches of rain between 8:30 and 9-p.m., before moving off to the east.<\/p>\n

The national Weather Service issued a Flood Advisory until 2:30-a.m., Monday, that was cancelled late Sunday night. A Flood Watch\u00a0was cancelled for \u00a0Monday.\u00a0\u00a0Unsettled weather, with rain is in the forecast for Monday.<\/p>\n

The forecasted potential for rain turned more severe Sunday evening as a line of thunderstorms traveling through the County intensified. At 7:03 p.m., the Law Enforcement Center received multiple reports of a tornado on the ground approximately 12 miles west northwest of Jamestown. A Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy, who was in the vicinity, verified the tornado on the ground traveling in the direction of Jamestown. At the time of the tornado, there were no active warnings issued by the National Weather Service other than an areal flood watch issued earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

At the recommendation of the Deputy, sirens for the City of Jamestown were activated at 7:09 p.m. without an official tornado warning being issued by the National Weather Service. The tornado occurred in an open field with early reports indicating no specific damages as a result. The National Weather Service was notified of the tornado.<\/p>\n

Shortly following that event, the National Weather Service issued a series of four official tornado warnings based on Doppler radar indications of storm rotation. The first warning occurred at 7:15 p.m. for northern Stutsman and southern Foster Counties. No additional tornadoes were reported.<\/p>\n

The second tornado warning occurred at 7:30 p.m. for the Jamestown area. Sirens for the City of Jamestown were activated for the second time. Sirens for the City of Buchanan were also activated. No additional tornadoes were reported.<\/p>\n

The third tornado warning occurred at 7:43 p.m. for southeastern Stutsman County, which included the Montpelier area, and a portion of northern LaMoure County. No additional tornadoes were reported.<\/p>\n

The fourth tornado warning occurred at 7:59 p.m. again for the Jamestown area. Sirens in the City of Jamestown were activated for a third time with no additional tornadoes reported. However, street flooding in Jamestown was reported. The railroad viaduct was flooded and was temporarily closed. Jamestown Airport measured 1.15 inches of rain that fell in about 30 minutes. No hail reports were received.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Authorities were called Friday morning about 9:30 to the 4th<\/sup> Avenue viaduct, when a storage shed being moved on a trailer became wedged under the structure.<\/p>\n

The driver of the vehicle towing the trailer\/storage shed, backed up to free the unit and was leaving when the police patrol arrived, and cited the driver for care required.<\/p>\n

The storage shed was extensively damaged but no damaged reported to the viaduct structure.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(CSi) Law enforcement patrols are being stepped up on rural, city and state roads beginning June 1, 2014.<\/p>\n

Their efforts stem from cracking down on impaired driving.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown, Southeast Regional DUI Task Force, will be participating.<\/p>\n

During the last DUI Enforcement in March this year, a total of 166 total citations and arrests were made.<\/p>\n

The Southeast Jamestown Regional DUI Task Force includes the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Carrington, Jamestown, Valley City and Oakes police departments, along with the Foster County, Griggs County, Stutsman County, McIntosh County, Barnes County and LaMoure County sheriff\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles (CSi) “Fargo” the t.v show is in the running for the Critics\u2019 Choice Television Awards, category of Best Miniseries, tying with four other shows or movies for the most nominations this year.<\/p>\n

The nominations were announced Wednesday by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.<\/p>\n

Along with “Fargo,” nominated for Best Miniseries were: “American Horror Story: Coven,” “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Dancing on the Edge,” “The Hollow Crown” and “Luther.”<\/p>\n

The 10-episode FX series, inspired by the Coen brothers\u2019 1996 black comedy film, also received four acting nominations, including: Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman for best actor in a movie or miniseries, Colin Hanks for best supporting actor in a movie or miniseries, and Allison Tolman for best supporting actress in a movie or miniseries<\/p>\n

“Fargo,” is seen on Tuesday evening\u2019s at 9-p.m., on CSi 40-FX.<\/p>\n

The awards show will be live on June 19, 2014, on CW, CSi Cable 37.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Police in Minot say a 30-year-old woman is facing various charges including assault after hitting a police officer in the face. The Minot woman is custody on charges of driving under suspension, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. Authorities say the altercation began around 8:20 p.m. Saturday when the woman was pulled over for not having a front license plate on her car. She’s currently being held at the Ward County Jail.<\/p>\n

\u3000\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Bismarck woman says she sent nearly $9,000 to a company she thought was giving her a job.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Sgt. Mark Buschena says \u00a0the 50-year-old woman on Thursday reported she had posted her resume online and had been contacted about a job by “First National Transportation Network.” She was asked to purchase four computers, for almost $6,000, and ship them to Kiev, Ukraine. Buschena says the woman was told she would be reimbursed, but she never received any money.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The woman says she also spent $3,000 on “training” from the company.

\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The state Board of Higher Education has approved a new program for the University of North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The UND School of Entrepreneurship is meant to help students gain hands-on experience with innovation and outreach. The program will be effective this fall.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 School officials say about 900 students were enrolled in at least one class in the entrepreneurship department during the last school year. More than 400 of those were enrolled in at least two classes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grand Forks-based Avianax (ay-vee-AWN’-ihks) is testing its cure for the canine parvovirus in seven states around the country. Results have shown a 90 percent rate among nearly 50 puppies that have been treated.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Some puppies die from the virus and others are euthanized because the medicine needed to treat it can be too expensive and take too long.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Medora Musical is an outdoor musical variety show held each summer in the Burning Hills Amphitheatre in the western North Dakota Badlands.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The musical is a look back frontier days of the region and includes references to Theodore Roosevelt, who ranched in the area. The musical is made up of singers and dancers from all around the country.

\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota oil companies must submit a gas capturing plan with drilling permit.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new rules went into effect this month.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Industrial Commission, which regulates North Dakota’s oil and gas industry, unanimously endorsed the proposal in March in an attempt to cut down the amount of natural gas that is burned off and wasted as a byproduct of oil production.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota drillers currently burn off, or flare, more than 30 percent of the valuable gas. That compares to the national average of less than 1 percent.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A group representing hundreds of companies working in North Dakota’s oil patch say the industry expects to be capturing 85 percent of the gas by 2016, and 90 percent within six years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new revenue would be used to fund a new $57 million events center and other projects in the booming oil patch town.

\nVoters on June 10 will be asked to permanently extend an existing 1-cent sales tax and add another half cent at the same time.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mayor Brent Sanford says the new rate would generate about $6 million each year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The events center would be financed with the sales tax revenue and loans leveraged with the city’s share of oil tax revenue.

\u00a0RICHARDTON, N.D. (AP) – The Richardton Health Center in southwestern North Dakota is breaking ground on a new nursing home and clinic.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new center will include a 19,000-square-foot, 24-bed skilled nursing home and a 3,000-square-foot clinic with three exam rooms and one procedure room.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All rooms in the nursing home will be private with larger common areas. There will be a central location for services between the nursing home and clinic.
