News Sept 5, 2012) \u2014 The Jamestown Police Department is warning Jamestown residents of a high risk registered sex offender who has moved to Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The report says 57-year-old David Lynn Meador\u00a0who was previoudly\u00a0living in Room #2 at the Starlite Motel, is now living at 403 1st Avenue, North in Jamestown, Apt #12.<\/p>\n<p>He is a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with hazel eyes, and brown hair.<\/p>\n<p>He has been assigned a High Risk Assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>Meador was convicted of possessing child pornography in Kentucky in January, 2003.<\/p>\n<p>In 1994, he was convicted of 20 counts of rape, sexual abuse and sodomy of three young girls from 1990 to 1994 in Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Meador is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor, should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to harass, intimidate, or threaten these offenders, their families, landlords, or employers, will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Printed handouts of Meador\u2019s photo and demographics are available at the Jamestown Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>More information on registered offenders is available on the Attorney General\u2019s web site:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexoffender.nd.gov\/\"><strong>http:\/\/www.sexoffender.nd.gov\/<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; With formal approval by the Jamestown City Council, the 2012 calendar year budget is reduced by 8-mills.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Mayor, Katie Andersen said,\u00a0 the city was able to reduce the mill levy in part due to an increase the city received in dollars from a State Aid formula.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor added the City Council decided, as well, to pass along a portion of the city\u2019s reserve fund, for a property tax break, and still have a comfortable amount of dollars left in reserve.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News ) &#8212; Arbor Day 2012 will be celebrated in Jamestown on Wednesday, Oct. 10 with a ceremony at Klaus Park, starting at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown has been a Tree City USA city for 32 consecutive years and will be presented its Arbor Day flag commemorating the achievement. To be a Tree City USA, a community must have a Tree Board or Committee, have a Tree Care Ordinance, have an annual budget of at least $2 per capita and hold an Arbor Day observance and proclamation each year.<\/p>\n<p>The City will also receive recognition for a special achievement of the Tree Growth Award for its 13<sup>th<\/sup> year.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Katie Anderson will read the Arbor Day Proclamation and Roy Sheppard, CEO of the Cable Services Inc. and a retiring member of the Mayor&#8217;s Shade Tree Advisory Committee a brief Arbor Day address.<\/p>\n<p>Former mayor James Trautman will be recognized with the Johnny Appleseed Award for his extensive planting of trees in Jamestown &amp; Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>Three young men will be recognized for their recent tree planting efforts and achievements. Jaden Horsted, planted 400 trees and shrubs on a hillside near the Frontier Village as an Eagle Scout Project, Alex Igl, planted trees to renovate the Buffalo tree planting in Centennial Forest as an Eagle Scout Project, and Ethan Bowman who received state wide recognition for a Marketplace for Kids project in Agriculture Inovation.<\/p>\n<p>Three trees will be planted in recognition for the three young men in Klaus Park where recently there have been significant loss of trees due to Dutch elm disease and flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Punch and cake will provided by Wells Fargo Bank and will be served to those attending the program. Wells Fargo has been a long-time partner with the city in tree plantings and Arbor Day celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota Farmers Union restaurant in<br \/>\nWashington, D.C., that closed down last year because of flooding<br \/>\nhas a new look.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Farmers Fishers Bakers, formerly known as Farmers and Fishers,<br \/>\nis scheduled to open in November.<\/p>\n<p>The waterfront restaurant is located in the Georgetown area, 10 blocks from its sister restaurant, Founding Farmers.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new eatery will seat about 290 people, including 150 in the<br \/>\nmain dining room, 70 on the patio, 25 in the bar area and eight at<br \/>\nthe reservations-only sushi bar.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In addition to sushi, the restaurant will feature pizza, fresh<br \/>\nseafood, burgers, pastries and an open pantry with pickled and<br \/>\ncanned produce, jams and sauces.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Farmers Union also has ties to the Founding<br \/>\nFarmers Potomac restaurant in Potomac, Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DURBIN, N.D. (AP &amp; KCSi- T.V. News) \u2013 A search for a suspect in an injury car accident ended in a Cass County sugar beet field.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Local and state authorities searched more than three hours Sunday night for a man seen running from the crash scene on a county road near Durbin.<\/p>\n<p>County deputies, Highway Patrol troopers and local firefighters used all-terrain vehicles, an airboat and a police dog in the search.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Cass County deputy eventually spotted the suspect, 20 year old Rudolpho Rodriguez III, of\u00a0 Durban, \u00a0in the field and arrested him.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was taken to Essential Hospital in Fargo, by Casselton Ambulance.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The person who was ejected and \u00a0injured in the rollover crash, 19 year old Michael Foley of Fargo, \u00a0was flown to\u00a0Sanford Hospital in Fargo,\u00a0with undisclosed injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Dry conditions have allowed farmers to<br \/>\ncontinue a rapid pace of harvesting late season crops.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its weekly crop<br \/>\nreport that corn was 98 percent mature and 36 percent harvested,<br \/>\nwell ahead of last year and the five-year average.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The dry edible bean harvest was 95 percent complete. About 80<br \/>\npercent of soybeans had been harvested by the end of the week.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The report says pasture and range conditions continued to<br \/>\ndeteriorate because of lack of rain. Conditions were rated at 26<br \/>\npercent very poor, 36 percent poor, 30 percent fair, and 8 percent<br \/>\ngood.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Producers say rain is needed in most areas to improve soil<br \/>\nconditions for fall tillage and winter wheat seeding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>OMAHA, Neb. (AP) &#8211; A new survey of business leaders suggests<br \/>\nlittle or no economic growth in most of a group of nine Midwest and<br \/>\nPlains states through the end of the year, but the booming oil<br \/>\nbusiness will continue to drive growth in North Dakota and<br \/>\nOklahoma.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The region&#8217;s overall economic index improved to a weak 50.4 in<br \/>\nSeptember from August&#8217;s 49.7.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Any score above 50 suggests economic growth in the months ahead<br \/>\nwhile a score below 50 suggests decline for that factor.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The survey covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri,<br \/>\nNebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 By contrast with the overall index, North Dakota&#8217;s economic<br \/>\nindex hit 61.6 in September and Oklahoma&#8217;s registered 56.6.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Supporters of a failed campaign to abolish<br \/>\nNorth Dakota property taxes say a judge is trampling their<br \/>\nfree-speech rights by telling them to apologize to their opponents.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The supporters plan to make the argument in a court filing<br \/>\nMonday. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the argument in<br \/>\nadvance.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During the campaign, property tax critics sued several state and<br \/>\ncounty officials.<\/p>\n<p>They said the officials made false statements about the impact of a ballot measure that sought to abolish property taxes. The measure was defeated at the polls.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick (roh-MAW&#8217;-nihk) has<br \/>\nordered the property tax critics to apologize to state and county<br \/>\nofficials. (AP) &#8211; The Spirit Lake Tribal Council says a<br \/>\n&#8220;tremendous shortfall&#8221; of support from the federal government is<br \/>\nthe reason the North Dakota tribe decided to surrender control of<br \/>\nits social service programs.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The council in a letter to tribal members also says it was<br \/>\nhampered by &#8220;baseless&#8221; accounts of tribal corruption made by two<br \/>\nfederal officials who reported problems with the tribe&#8217;s efforts to<br \/>\nprotect vulnerable children.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Those allegations ultimately led to the Bureau of Indian Affairs<br \/>\ntakeover of tribal social service programs, which became effective<br \/>\nMonday.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The tribal council&#8217;s letter says the tribe struggled to address social<br \/>\nproblems without proper federal funding and other help.<\/p>\n<p>But Tribal Chairman Roger Yankton says he hopes handing over social services administration to the BIA will improve relations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0PEMBINA, N.D.
