(AP) &#8211; A man is accused of raping and killing a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lance Summers is charged in federal court with murder and sexual abuse in the March 18 death of Natalie White Lightening. Summers has pleaded not guilty.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The indictment says White Lightening was physically incapable of communicating her unwillingness to have sex with Summers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Trial has been scheduled for Aug. 19 in Bismarck. No further details are available.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The head of the federal public defender&#8217;s office says officials are just beginning their investigation. (AP) &#8211; A preliminary hearing for a Burleigh County man accused of killing his mother last spring has been pushed back.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n38-year-old Christopher Vick appeared in court Thursday, but the hearing was pushed back as Vick voiced concerns about the judicial process. He took issue with the presence of cameras in the courtroom, his lack of ample time to examine evidence and his attorney.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vick is charged with felony murder for the death of 62-year-old Alice Vick, who died May 30 of a blow to the head.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vick is serving a prison sentence related to the same incident. He earlier pleaded guilty to felony charges of attempted murder and felonious restraint for stabbing his brother&#8217;s fiancee and holding her against her will.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A faith-based group is spearheading efforts this summer to restore about 40 Minot homes damaged by the 2011 Souris River flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project involves funding, equipment or logistical help from the United Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopalian and Catholic churches. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Board of Animal Health has relaxed some hog movement restrictions put in place earlier this year to guard against the spread of a deadly pig virus.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus, or PED, has killed millions of pigs in the U.S in the past year. It was confirmed in a swine herd in eastern North Dakota in late February.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state began requiring any pigs shipped into the state or within the state to have a health certificate stating there have been no clinical signs of PED or a similar virus known as TGE for the last two months on the premises where the pigs originated.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Veterinarian Susan Keller says the requirement for in-state movement of hogs has been discontinued. Badal and Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson announce Alan Magnani has been named head men\u2019s basketball coach.<\/p>\n<p>Magnani comes to Jamestown from Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where from 1996 to 2011 he was head men\u2019s basketball coach at Iowa Wesleyan College.<\/p>\n<p>Magnani says, \u201cI am really excited about the opportunity to build upon and continue the success of the men\u2019s basketball program at the University of Jamestown. I\u00a0was very impressed with everyone I met during the interview process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Magnani is the winningest coach in Iowa Wesleyan school history, and his teams reached the NAIA National Tournament in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2011, winning Midwest Collegiate Conference championships those same years. He was a three-time conference Coach of the Year and in 2011 was a finalist for the Don Meyer Collegeinsider.com National Coach of the Year award. He has coached 13 All-Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Paulson says, \u201cIt\u2019s hard to match his resum\u00e9.\u00a0 Obviously, he has enjoyed a great deal of success coaching in Iowa, and I think his experience and maturity will be an asset, not only to the basketball program, but to the Athletic Department and campus community as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Badal adds, \u201cWe are so pleased to welcome an experienced and highly successful coach with an NAIA background.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Magnani earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology from the University of Northern Iowa and his master\u2019s degree in sports administration from Wayne State College.
