Valley City (CSi, AP) Valley City Police report a 92 year old Valley City woman was stuck and injured by a\u00a0pickup about 6-p.m.\u00a0 Sunday.<\/p>\n

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson says the driver, 32 year old Robert Mittleider was Northbound on Central Avenue North making a left tern onto 6th Street Northwest.<\/p>\n

Mittleider says he did not to see Rita Webber crossing the street in the crosswalk and struck her with his vehicle.<\/p>\n

Webber was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment and later transferred by Life Flight to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.<\/p>\n

Police say neither alcohol nor speed was a factor in the accident.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) On Friday the Jamestown Regional Airport Authority hosted a ribbon cutting and open-house to welcome its new commercial air service provider, United Express\/ SkyWest.<\/p>\n

Airport Manager Matthew Leitner emceed a program.<\/p>\n

He said that since he became manager, three years ago, the airport and air service has advanced “Light years ahead of three years ago.”<\/p>\n

Jamestown Regional Airport Authority, Chairman, Jim Boyd said “The region Just got larger,” with the United Express\/SkyWest air service to Jamestown, noting that the new jet service is part of the airport\u2019s strategic plan, started seven years ago with the “Jets For Jamestown Campaign.”.<\/p>\n

Governor Dalrymple said “This is a new beginning for air travel in the region and an impressive accomplishment for all the federal, state and local leaders who worked so hard to bring jet service to Jamestown and Devils Lake. Providing an efficient, reliable and affordable jet service to the region will help meet the area\u2019s growth needs, create additional opportunities for economic and business expansion, and provide more options for leisure and business travelers both in and out of the state.”<\/p>\n

He added that Jamestown is on the verge of several years of growth a prosperity, at a manageable rate.<\/p>\n

Senator Hoeven was unable to attend. His representative on behalf of the Senator, said that SkyWest\u2019s decision to add new flights in and out of Jamestown and Devils Lake stands as great news for these communities. Reliable jet service is important to the business community, the tourism industry and to the occasional traveler. Airports across North Dakota have seen increased demands and record boardings which is why we are glad to see expanded service at these airports to meet the needs of our people and growing economy.”<\/p>\n

Also unable to attend, Senator Heitkamp\u2019s State Director, Ryan Nagle, and Rachel Buening, the staff assistant for Rep. Kevin Cramer, read statements from them.<\/p>\n

Mayor Andersen said the United Express\/SkyWest air service is another sign of growth and progress for the city, noting that an airport is the first and last impression a traveler has of the city.<\/p>\n

North Dakota Aeronautics Commission Director Kyle Wanner who interned at Jamestown Regional Airport, while a student at the, then, Jamestown College, praised United Express\/SkyWest\u2019s service and the airline, overall.<\/p>\n

Wanner read a letter from the Devils Lake Airport Authority, which had its celebration of United Express\/SkyWest\u2019s new service to that city, on Thursday, in which John Nord noted the Jamestown, Devils Lake partnership in airline service.<\/p>\n

Wanner added that, now, all eight North Dakota commercial airports have jet aircraft service.<\/p>\n

Also speaking were Stutsman County Commission, Chariman, Mark Klose, JSDC CEO Connie Ova, Brad Rawson, director of network planning and acting-director of marketing for SkyWest Airlines and Tim Burchill, former president of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

Rawson said SkyWest looks forward to a long-term partnership with Jamestown, and asked citizens in return for the service, to promote United Express\/SkyWest.<\/p>\n

Rawson presented Leiter, and Governor Dalrymple with desktop size models of the aircraft serving Jamestown, the 50 passenger Bombardier CRJ-200 jet featuring a flight attendant and restroom facilities, along with a galley.<\/p>\n

SkyWest\u2019s first flight in and out of the Jamestown Regional Airport was June 5, 2014.<\/p>\n

The new service provides two flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and one flight on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) There will be a Town Hall Meeting with information about Agent Orange and its effects on person exposed, set for Tuesday June 24, 2014, from 1-p.m., to 3-p.m., at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The meeting is hosted by the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, and other agencies to answer any questions.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Spraying in the City of Jamestown for adult mosquitoes is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 23, 2014<\/span> and will continue for the following 1-2 evenings<\/span> as is necessary.<\/p>\n

All spraying is contingent upon weather conditions.<\/p>\n

All spraying operations will take place between approximately 8:30 PM (dusk) until approximately 6:00 AM.<\/p>\n

Parents are advised to keep children out of the streets and away from the spray machines.<\/p>\n

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of sprayer units.<\/p>\n

Residents can obtain additional reduction of mosquito populations by supplementing the mosquito control operations with the spraying of individual backyards where necessary. It is also recommended that grass be mowed regularly and shrubs trimmed to reduce resting places for the mosquitoes. Articles holding water such as tires and other receptacles should be emptied to prevent the development of mosquito larvae.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A 43-year-old Minot man is hospitalized following an early-morning house fire.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities were called shortly before 6 a.m. Monday. Police reported heavy smoke coming from the back of the residence when firefighters arrived.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man’s name and condition were not released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The fire department in Fargo says a truck getting off Interstate-94 and moving into Fargo spilled about 100 gallons of diesel.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The spill happened at the intersection of I-94 and 25th Street South.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters used sand, floor dry and absorbent booms to pick up and contain the small pools of fuel that formed on the street, boulevard and below a storm sewer discharge.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the spill was caused by an eastbound truck turning from an I-94 off ramp onto 25th Street. The truck turned wide over the boulevard puncturing the right side fuel tank and drove away leaving the trail of fuel.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say law enforcement is investigating to determine who is responsible for the spill.<\/p>\n

(CSi) A West Fargo man was killed Saturday, June 21st after the bike he was riding was struck by a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

50 year old David Hawkinson was traveling South on Traill County 81 about one mile North of Grandin. 26 year old Justin Jalbert of Hunter, ND was also traveling South. Jalbert was traveling faster than Hawkinson and struck the rear tire of his bike. Hawkinson was thrown from the bicycle and sustained fatal injuries.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation, but distracted driving is believed to have contributed to the accident.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota University System is expected to approve its biennial budget request this week that will ask the state for a 12.5 percent increase in funding over the next two years.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A large part of the $764 million base budget request expected to be approved next week comes from the implementation of a new higher education funding model.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new model was approved in last year’s legislative session and the formula it uses calls for $49 million more in operating funding. The model funds schools based on the number of credits completed, rather than relying on past payments and student enrollments.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The system also wants to make several improvements at the state’s campuses, like providing around-the-clock security and system-wide mental health support for students, including after-hour crisis intervention.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Investments are being made across rural North Dakota to increase and improve access to health care.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck Tribune reports the U.S. Department of Agriculture alone has invested more than $178 million in 42 projects since 2009.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The investments have gone to hospitals in areas where the facilities are the only medical care available for miles around.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hospitals in the western part of the state have seen their number of patients soar thanks to the boom in oil country. Some hospitals there have sought grants, loans and even donations from oil corporations to address the demand.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tioga Medical Center, for example, received an $8 million loan to build a new 15,000-square-foot clinic slated to be finished in 2015. The hospital’s patients quadrupled since 2010.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 MINOT, N.D. (AP) – An environmental study on a pipeline that would bring Missouri River water to northwestern North Dakota recommends an alternative that would move the project forward.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Northwest Area Water Project, or NAWS, is designed to bring water to a 10-county area, including Minot.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal judge had ordered the project to be put on hold in 2010 until the environmental study was completed, in order to address complaints by Manitoba over the transfer of aquatic species from the Missouri River to the Sours River basin, which extends into Canada.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 environmental study recommends a $207 million project that would pre-treat the water before piping it to the Minot water treatment plant.

\u00a0THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK, N.D. (AP) – Oil drilling in North Dakota is drawing ever closer to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the Badlands, where the man who would become the nation’s 26th president sought solace after his wife and mother both died unexpectedly in 1884.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Today, the vistas that soothed Roosevelt’s grief and helped instill his zeal for conservation now include oil rigs and flares used to burn off natural gas.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oil development is strictly forbidden within the park itself, but park officials worry that the flares, lights and noise from drilling just beyond the protected area are sullying the natural spaces cherished by Roosevelt as a bespectacled young man in his mid-20s.
