Jamestown (CSi) The “school-friendly” version of the hit musical, and movie,\u00a0“Grease,” will be performed at the Jamestown High School theater, June 26, and 27. 2014.<\/p>\n

Director of the production Cheryl McIntyre says the movie version contained adult topics that are not in the school version, however the production does include all of the singing and dancing in the movie.<\/p>\n

She says this production will have a rock band in the orchestra pit.<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Co-Director, Mike McIntyre joined two of the cast members, Karissa Hubbard, who plays “Rizzo,” and Tyler Newton who plays “Vince.”<\/p>\n

Mike, has been helping with the music performance and the technical side, including scenery.<\/p>\n

He added that an elaborate set has been constructed and props include a car for the<\/p>\n

‘Greased Lightning’ scene..<\/p>\n

Grease is a musical set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School. It follows the life of teenagers and the complexities of friendship, teenage rebellion and love. It will feature rock and roll songs of the 1950’s such as Summer Nights, Those Magic Changes, Beauty School Drop Out, Greased Lightning and many more songs of the past.<\/p>\n

“Grease,” premiered on Broadway in 1972 and became a summer movie hit in 1979.<\/p>\n

Grease will be performed at the Jamestown High School Theater on June 26 and 27 at 7:00pm. Tickets will be sold at the door ($5 for students and senior citizens, $7 for adults.)<\/p>\n

Jenna Stilwell, who is playing Sandy, said she has been part of past high school musicals including “Seussical,” “Annie” and “Cats.”<\/p>\n

Shane Chandler is playing Kenickie, one of Danny’s friends. Chandler was part of the cast for “Annie” and “Cats.” He said he likes the role of Kenickie because he is the center of one big dance number, “Greased Lightning.”<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A 43-year-old Minot man is hospitalized following an early-morning house fire.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities were called shortly before 6 a.m. Monday. Police reported heavy smoke coming from the back of the residence when firefighters arrived.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man’s name and condition were not released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – Dickinson police say a 31-year-old man suspected of firing shots at a passenger in a pickup has died after he was shot by police.
\n\u00a0
\nOfficers in Dickinson responded to a report of possible gunshots Saturday evening. The suspect led police on a chase through a residential area before ditching his vehicle and fleeing on foot.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the man, who was armed with a handgun, was shot after an encounter with police at a Dickinson residence. He died at the emergency room of a Dickinson hospital. His name has not been released.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the shooting.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Five North Dakota organizations are coming together in a coalition aimed at better combatting sex trafficking in the state.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 coalition will be made up of Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, First Nations Women’s Alliance, North Dakota’s Women’s Network, the National Association of Social Workers-North Dakota and CAWS North Dakota. The coalition is called A Force to End Human Sexual Exploitation and is known by the acronym FUSE.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State and local officials in the oil patch identify human trafficking as a major problem that has been an unwelcomed byproduct of North Dakota’s oil boom.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota executive director Tim Hathaway says the groups will be able to combat human trafficking better by working together.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Gov. Jack Dalrymple has appointed a Bismarck utility official as the new chief of North Dakota’s employment agency.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Darlymple appointed Cheri Giesen as executive director of Job Service North Dakota on Monday. Giesen is a former employee of Job Service but has been a supervisor at Basin Electric Power Cooperative since 2005. She replaces former Job Service executive director Maren Daley, who resigned last year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Job Service administers state unemployment benefits and workforce training programs.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency has about 250 full-time employees and an annual budget of about $40 million. About 97 percent of the agency’s funding comes from the federal government.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Giesen will be paid $115,000 annually.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota currently has 25,000 more jobs than takers and the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, at 2.6 percent.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Construction has started on a ring levee that would protect homeowners south of Fargo during times of serious flooding.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project is a precursor to a proposed $2 billion Red River diversion channel that would move water around Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minnesota. Residents in the Fargo-Moorhead area have dealt with the prospect of major flooding in four of the last six years.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ring dike is meant to protect structures in the Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke communities that would be threatened by a staging area for the diversion.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oxbow Mayor Jim Nyhoff\u00a0says \u00a0he is elated to “see dirt moving” on the project.<\/p>\n

GRANDIN, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says distracted driving likely contributed to a crash that killed a man who was riding his bicycle.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The accident killed 50-year-old David Hawkinson, of West Fargo.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says Hawkinson was riding his bike on Highway 81 north of Grandin Saturday morning when a pickup came up from behind at a “higher rate of speed” and hit him.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hawkinson was thrown from the bike.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Officials say only a small number of Minot residents affected by a devastating 2011 flood have been bumped up to a higher risk category for flood insurance.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The June 2011 flood caused by heavy spring snowmelt and rains damaged or destroyed more than 4,000 homes, businesses and other structures in Minot. It caused nearly $700 million in damage.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Multiple claims on a property will typically increase the flood-risk classification.\u00a0 Only a small percentage of people had flood insurance in 2011 and most of them did not have previous claims.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say Minot’s valley is still considered a non-flood plain despite the 2011 event.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The risk classification is tied to the flood experience of the property and not the flood experience of the owner.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is warning people to keep off protected lands if they want to shoot off fireworks.<\/p>\n

Possession or use of fireworks on state wildlife management areas is prohibited. Authorities say excessive noise and commotion that come with fireworks disturbs wildlife, and their explosive nature is a potential source of wildfires.<\/p>\n

Wildlife management areas are meant to enhance wildlife production, provide hunting and fishing opportunities, and offer other outdoor recreational and educational uses.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WASHINGTON (AP) – The head of the IRS is returning to Capitol Hill\u00a0Monday evening to face skeptical lawmakers with questions about lost emails. Ahead of the hearing, the House Oversight Committee has asked IRS Commissioner John Koskinen (KAHS’-kihn-ihn) to address a series of technical questions about the agency’s email system and its policy for retaining official documents. The IRS says that in 2011, it lost an untold number of emails to and from Lois Lerner, the former head of the division that processes applications for tax-exempt status.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says many American women can’t even get a paid day off to give birth. The president tells a working families summit that it’s an issue this country isn’t handling very well. The United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn’t mandate paid leave for mothers of newborns. Obama says that’s not a list he wants to be on – and it’s time to change it. But he hasn’t thrown his support to legislation that would raise payroll taxes to cover the costs of paid family leave. His aides say that he wants instead to explore the issue further.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BAGHDAD (AP) – It’s not up to the United States — or any other country — to try to pick new leadership for Iraq. Secretary of State John Kerry, after meeting with Iraqi leaders today in Baghdad, said it’s a decision for the Iraqi people to make. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is facing growing calls for his resignation from Sunnis who say they don’t believe he will give them a greater voice in the government.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – The leaders of the U.S. and Russia have spoken by phone today about Ukraine. The White House says President Barack Obama urged Vladimir Putin to stop supporting pro-Russia separatists in Ukraine, and the flow of arms across the border. The Kremlin says Putin called for direct talks between the warring parties in Ukraine. Monday, insurgents in eastern Ukraine said they will honor a cease-fire that was declared by Ukraine’s president, and take part in more talks to help resolve the conflict.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SEATTLE (AP) – The attorney representing the man charged with killing one student and wounding two others at a Seattle university says she may pursue an insanity defense for her client. Aaron Ybarra pleaded not guilty to premeditated first-degree murder and other charges\u00a0Monday \u00a0morning. Officials say Ybarra fatally shot a 19-year-old Seattle Pacific University student and wounded two others. The gunman was stopped from shooting more people by a student building monitor who pepper-sprayed and tackled him as he reloaded his shotgun.
