SOME STORMS MAY BE<\/p>\n<p>SEVERE THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Otter Tail Power crews Monday evening worked to restore power to a section of Northwest Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The outage in the 200 block of Second Avenue Northwest affected area businesses and homes.<\/p>\n<p>An arrestor, located behind the Jamestown fire hall, that protects against power surges, failed at about 8-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Otter Tail is continuing to investigate the cause of the outage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) A Jamestown man is facing 62 misdemeanor charges for alleged irregularities stemming from more than 90 contracts he made with customers.<\/p>\n<p>The contracts involved financing vehicles or having repairs to vehicles at, Budget Auto Sales &amp; Service in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Following the investigating by Jamestown Police, 44 year old Brian Lee Hanson, was charged Thursday in Southeast District Court in Jamestown with 31 counts of usury, a Class B misdemeanor, and 31 counts of violating the Truth in Lending Act, a Class A misdemeanor. Hanson is scheduled to appear in court at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Hanson is free on bond. The maximum penalty for a Class A misdemeanor is one year in jail and a $3,000 fine. The maximum penalty for a Class B misdemeanor is 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a police review of a woman&#8217;s contract, Sgt Thomas Nagel\u00a0 was able to obtain a search warrant for Budget Auto Sales &amp; Service to obtain copies of other financing contracts Hanson had with other customers to either buy a vehicle or pay for vehicle repairs.<\/p>\n<p>An alleged violation of the North Dakota usury law was that Hanson was charging a 10 percent monthly interest rate on the loan, which translates to a 120 percent annual interest rate. North Dakota usury law limits the annual interest rate on a loan to 5 1\/2 percent as reflected by the average rate of interest payable on U.S. treasury bills maturing in six months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Courtenay (CSi) Delays in the engineering studies required for connections has put off the start of a wind farm in the Courtenay area.<\/p>\n<p>The connections wire the wind\u00a0 farm to the national power grid.<\/p>\n<p>The $350 million wind farm originally planned for construction this year in northern Stutsman County has been delayed to a 2015 completion date.<\/p>\n<p>The project is the largest in North Dakota to be issued a single construction permit by the North Dakota Public Service Commission, with 100 wind turbines with a capacity of 200 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The &#8220;school-friendly&#8221; version of the hit musical, and movie, &#8220;Grease,&#8221; will be performed at the Jamestown High School theater, June 26, and 27. 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the production Cheryl McIntyre says the movie version contained adult topics that are not in the school version, however the production does include all of the singing and dancing in the movie.<\/p>\n<p>She says this production will have a rock band in the orchestra pit.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Co-Director, Mike McIntyre joined two of the cast members, Karissa Hubbard, who plays &#8220;Rizzo,&#8221; and Tyler Newton who plays &#8220;Vince.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mike, has been helping with the music performance and the technical side, including scenery.<\/p>\n<p>He added that an elaborate set has been constructed and props include a car for the &#8216;Greased Lightning&#8217; scene..<\/p>\n<p>Grease is a musical set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School. It follows the life of teenagers and the complexities of friendship, teenage rebellion and love. It will feature rock and roll songs of the 1950&#8217;s such as Summer Nights, Those Magic Changes, Beauty School Drop Out, Greased Lightning and many more songs of the past.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Grease,&#8221; premiered on Broadway in 1972 and became a summer movie hit in 1979.<\/p>\n<p>Grease will be performed at the Jamestown High School Theater on June 26 and 27 at 7:00pm. Tickets will be sold at the door ($5 for students and senior citizens, $7 for adults.)<\/p>\n<p>Jenna Stilwell, who is playing Sandy, said she has been part of past high school musicals including &#8220;Seussical,&#8221; &#8220;Annie&#8221; and &#8220;Cats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Shane Chandler is playing Kenickie, one of Danny&#8217;s friends. Chandler was part of the cast for &#8220;Annie&#8221; and &#8220;Cats.&#8221; He said he likes the role of Kenickie because he is the center of one big dance number, &#8220;Greased Lightning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The parents of a missing North Dakota State College of Science student say they&#8217;ve hired a private investigator because the police investigation has gone cold.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-year-old Andrew Sadek left his dorm on May 1 and hasn&#8217;t been seen since. Authorities days later issued an arrest warrant charging Sadek with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0Sadek&#8217;s parents say they believe their son is alive, but scared. The Sadeks say they didn&#8217;t know their son was under investigation in a drug case.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials searched for Sadek in early May for several days but found no clues to explain his disappearance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Grand Forks police are searching for two males in connection with an early morning shooting in which a man died.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say they responded to an apartment building about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday and found the 24-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police did not immediately identify the man.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say two males were seen leaving the area of the shooting on foot. They are considered &#8220;subjects of interest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0PAGE, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Law enforcement authorities in North Dakota say they have arrested a man accused of impersonating a sheriff&#8217;s deputy to force his way into his ex-girlfriend&#8217;s apartment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 29-year-old Timothy Lang is in custody on initial charges of terrorizing, criminal mischief and impersonating a law enforcement officer.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The station reports Lang tried to enter the apartment, but his ex-girlfriend managed to close the door.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Page man was arrested after a Cass County deputy saw him leaving the apartment complex.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was not immediately clear whether Lang has legal representation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Dickinson police say a 31-year-old man suspected of firing shots at a passenger in a pickup has died after he was shot by police.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOfficers in Dickinson responded to a report of possible gunshots Saturday evening. The suspect led police on a chase through a residential area before ditching his vehicle and fleeing on foot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities on Monday identified the man as Timothy Bowling. KXMB-TV reports Bowling was originally from Mississippi, but his last known address is in the New England region.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Bowling, who was armed with a handgun, was shot after an encounter with police at a Dickinson residence. He died at the emergency room of a Dickinson hospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is warning people to keep off protected lands if they want to shoot off fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Possession or use of fireworks on state wildlife management areas is prohibited. Authorities say excessive noise and commotion that come with fireworks disturbs wildlife, and their explosive nature is a potential source of wildfires.<\/p>\n<p>Wildlife management areas are meant to enhance wildlife production, provide hunting and fishing opportunities, and offer other outdoor recreational and educational uses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Wisconsin man is accused of bringing females to North Dakota against their will to engage in prostitution.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-one-year-old Levell Durr faces a human trafficking charge in federal court. He appeared in court Monday, and Magistrate Judge Charles Miller ruled that he was eligible for a public defender and scheduled a detention hearing for Thursday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An affidavit by FBI Special Agent Bruce Bennett alleges that Durr has been trafficking females since at least April, using drugs to keep them compliant.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPolice acting on a tip arrested Durr on Friday at a Bismarck hotel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Five North Dakota organizations are coming together in a coalition aimed at better combatting sex trafficking in the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 coalition will be made up of Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, First Nations Women&#8217;s Alliance, North Dakota&#8217;s Women&#8217;s Network, the National Association of Social Workers-North Dakota and CAWS North Dakota. The coalition is called A Force to End Human Sexual Exploitation and is known by the acronym FUSE.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State and local officials in the oil patch identify human trafficking as a major problem that has been an unwelcomed byproduct of North Dakota&#8217;s oil boom.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota executive director Tim Hathaway says the groups will be able to combat human trafficking better by working together.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Governor Jack Dalrymple has appointed Cheri Giesen to lead North Dakota&#8217;s employment agency. Giesen is a former employee of Job Service but has been a supervisor at Basin Electric Power Cooperative since 2005. She&#8217;ll be paid $115,000 a year to run an agency with 250 full-time workers and a $40 million budget.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Construction has started on a ring levee that would protect homeowners south of Fargo during times of serious flooding.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project is a precursor to a proposed $2 billion Red River diversion channel that would move water around Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minnesota. Residents in the Fargo-Moorhead area have dealt with the prospect of major flooding in four of the last six years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ring dike is meant to protect structures in the Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke communities that would be threatened by a staging area for the diversion.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oxbow Mayor Jim Nyhoff tells KFGO radio he is elated to &#8220;see dirt moving&#8221; on the project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple is hosting the second Governor&#8217;s Pipeline Summit\u00a0today.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The last Governor&#8217;s Pipeline Summit was in 2012.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The summit will take place at the National Energy Center of Excellence on the Bismarck State College campus.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It will look at how the state&#8217;s oil and gas are currently transported and provide an update on proposed pipeline projects.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There have been mounting calls for more pipelines to be built in the state. Those pushing for more pipelines say pipelines would reduce truck traffic and enhance public safety. Much of North Dakota&#8217;s oil has to be moved by truck to pipeline or rail facilities before it can be shipped to markets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The spring planting season in North Dakota has mostly wrapped up, but rain is hampering farmers who are trying to spray for weeds.<\/p>\n<p>The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that 1-3 inches of rain was reported in the eastern and southern parts of the state over the past week.<\/p>\n<p>The moisture and windy conditions affected crop spraying, but the rain has been good for soil moisture.
