SOME OF THE STORMS COULD BECOME SEVERE.<\/p>\n<p>FOR SATURDAY\u2026GENERAL TO STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ARE STILL POSSIBLE ACROSS MUCH OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GIVEN THE MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF STORMS AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE\u2026FLASH FLOODING POTENTIAL WILL\u00a0\u00a0BE MONITORED.<\/p>\n<p>THE CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUES SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers this week, increased the release from Jamestown Dam, after 2.5 inches of rain soaked the area June 18 and 19<sup>, <\/sup>2014<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoir levels went up a foot.<\/p>\n<p>Pipestem Dam Manger, Bob Martin, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says<\/p>\n<p>the Jamestown Dam increase release went from 150 cfs, to 235 cfs on Monday, June 23, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The Pipestem Dam releases remains at 215 cfs for a combined release of 450 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>Martin adds that the water level at Jamestown Reservoir is also about 1 foot above normal summer lake levels, fluctuating with rain events.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The James River &#8220;Y&#8221; is currently hosting a Volley Ball Camp, in conjunction with the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Y\u2019s Executive Director Frank Conlin said, over 100 high school girls from a 100 mile radius of Jamestown are participating through Saturday this week, at the Y and the Hansen Center, on Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the camp was held for middle school girls.<\/p>\n<p>Conlin reported the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Annual Y, Golf Tournament was recently held at Jamestown Country Club, which had 18 sponsors. R.M.Stoudt offered a vehicle for anyone hitting a hole-in-one, on hole four, but unfortunately no one aced that hole.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds went to the youth scholarship program.<\/p>\n<p>Conlin reminds members, that the Y will be closed for the annual cleanup and maintenance week, July 7-11, 2014.The Y\u2019s staff and University of Jamestown staff will perform the work, which includes draining a re-painting the swimming pool, and installing some new carpeting.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that swimming lessons continue this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Signups are being taken for the upcoming Camp Rokiwan at Spiritwood Lake, in July.\u00a0 The camp is a joint venture of the Jamestown Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. Scholarships are available with applications available at the Y\u2019s front desk. Fifty openings are offered, and at that time the camp is about half full.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Due to lack of support, the owners of Valley City\u2019s Cinema Flix movie theater may sell the business, look for investors or close the theater.<\/p>\n<p>On FaceBook, cinema owner, Jeremy Zako, note his options.<\/p>\n<p>He says costs incurred at the recently renovated theater amounted to about $250,000, and community support has not be sufficient in paying the overhead of running the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s general license plate is getting the first makeover in more than 20 years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature&#8217;s Budget Section approved the new design unveiled by the state Transportation Department on Wednesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new plate retains much of the same design components of the current plate released in 1993.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new plate still has a blue sky, a butte and a bison. It also has two wheat sheaves instead of one and the state&#8217;s tourism slogan, &#8220;Discover the Spirit,&#8221; has been replaced by &#8220;Legendary.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The new plate also is flat instead of embossed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota lawmakers set aside almost $7 million last year to make and distribute the plates.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than 1 million license plates must be replaced with the new plate by June 30, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0TIOGA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; With North Dakota reaching an oil production level of 1 million barrels per day, officials are holding a celebration in the town where drillers first found black gold in the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Petroleum Council was hosting Wednesday&#8217;s celebration in Tioga. Council President Ron Ness and Gov. Jack Dalrymple were among those scheduled to speak.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The celebration also was featuring World War II-era aircraft and public bus and aerial tours of the area where North Dakota&#8217;s first producing oil well was located.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota oil production surpassed 1 million barrels a day in April. Just a decade ago, the state was producing only about 85,000 barrels per day.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s largest county is receiving more than $6 million in federal funding to help pay for flood protection projects.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state&#8217;s congressional delegation says the Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded $4.2 million for home buyouts in Cass County, and $2 million for sewer system improvements in downtown Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Fargo area has dealt with the prospect of major flooding in four of the last six years. A record Red River crest in 2009 destroyed about 100 homes and set city and county officials on a path to get other susceptible homes off the flood plain.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The current buyout project is targeting 38 properties in the county, for a total cost of nearly $16 million.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot man accused of sexually abusing a girl over a five-year span has been sentenced to 37 years in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-three-year-old Chad Kleespie pleaded guilty in February to a felony charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. He was sentenced Tuesday, and could have faced life in prison without parole.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nKleespie will be eligible for probation after 27 years. However, if he is released from prison he will be on supervised probation for the rest of his life.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show Kleespie also was ordered to pay nearly $1,400 in restitution, as well as $1,550 in fees.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the abuse began when the girl was 9 years old and continued until she was 14. Kleespie blames alcoholism and says he doesn&#8217;t remember abusing the girl.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PIERRE, S.D. (AP) &#8211; Gov. Dennis Daugaard is encouraging donations to the Wessington Springs tornado relief fund, as he prepares for a visit to the town on Thursday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Daugaard says every contribution, whether big or small, will make a difference in helping restore the town where dozens of homes and businesses were damaged on June 18.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Businesses, organizations and people interested in donating can call the Red Cross at 1-800-Red-Cross or go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/\">www.redcross.org<\/a> and designate a donation for Wessington Springs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cash donations also can be dropped off at American Bank &amp; Trust locations in Wessington Springs, Alpena, Huron, Wolsey, Miller, Pierre, Mellette and De Smet.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Daugaard says Wessington Springs does not need any more donations of clothing or household items.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>DENVER (AP) &#8211; Utah&#8217;s attorney general plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a ruling that found states must allow gay couples to marry. Wednesday&#8217;s ruling came from a three-judge panel in Denver. It found that states can&#8217;t deprive people of the right to marry simply because they want to marry someone of the same sex. Utah officials are also leaving open the possibility of requesting a review by the full 10th Circuit appeals court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BAGHDAD (AP) &#8211; Secretary of State John Kerry is warning Mideast nations against taking new military action in Iraq that might worsen the sectarian divisions there. His warning came after Syria launched airstrikes across the border against the insurgents who have taken several Iraqi cities. And Iran has been flying surveillance drones over its neighbor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) &#8211; Nigeria&#8217;s capital has seen another violent attack blamed on the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram. An explosion struck a shopping mall in Abuja (ah-BOO&#8217;-juh) Wednesday, and police say more than 20 people were killed. The blast came as Nigerians were preparing to watch their country&#8217;s Super Eagles play Argentina at the World Cup in Brazil. Many shops at the mall have TV screens, but it&#8217;s not clear if the explosion was timed to coincide with the match, which started an hour later.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Obama administration officials say the U.S. and its European allies are finalizing a package of sanctions against Russia, with the goal of putting them in place as early as this week.
