(AP) &#8211; Parts of North Dakota look to be in for<br \/>\nsome early October snowfall.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather<br \/>\nadvisory for the west and central parts of the state late Wednesday<br \/>\nand early Thursday, and a winter storm watch for the northern Red<br \/>\nRiver Valley.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forecasters say as much as 3 inches of snow could fall in some<br \/>\neastern areas by Thursday afternoon.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The weather service says measurable snow is not all that<br \/>\nuncommon in North Dakota this time of year, and snow that<br \/>\naccumulates early in the season usually melts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fort Ransom North Dakota woman is facing murder<\/p>\n<p>and two child abuse charges after her 22-month-old son died last month.<\/p>\n<p>A murder charge against Jodi Renae Lindvall was filed in Ransom<\/p>\n<p>County District Court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lindvall was arrested Monday. Lindvall&#8217;s son, Bentley Lindvall,<\/p>\n<p>died Sept. 22. It is unclear how the child died.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents charging Lindvall says she caused the boy&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>death.<\/p>\n<p>Lindvall faces up to life in prison for the murder charge.<\/p>\n<p>The abuse charges each carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Lindvall is being held at the Barnes County Jail in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents do not list an attorney for Lindvall.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm reminds North Dakotans the annual enrollment period for Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2012 is coming up.<\/p>\n<p>Hamm says, &#8220;We want to make sure all Medicare beneficiaries know this is the time to compare Part D drug plans. Beneficiaries used to have until the end of the year, but for the second year in a row, the enrollment period ends Dec. 7, 2012. (AP) &#8211; Evacuees have returned to their homes in a small northwestern Minnesota town after fire crews contained a rapidly-spreading wildfire fueled by brisk winds.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State fire marshal Bruce Roed (ROHD) said Wednesday the fire is<br \/>\n95 percent contained and has not grown since Tuesday night when<br \/>\nabout 400 people returned to their homes in the Kittson County town<br \/>\nof Karlstad.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The wildfire earlier burned about 12 square miles and destroyed<br \/>\nsix to eight homes in the Karlstad area.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities evacuated Karlstad&#8217;s nursing home, school, assisted living center and a group home as the fire blanketed the community in thick smoke.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City Clerk Sue Dufault says people were evacuated to Hallock,<br \/>\nabout 20 miles to the northwest.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roed says the possibility of 6 inches of snow Wednesday is<br \/>\nwelcome news to firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 21-year-old Fargo man faces kidnapping and<br \/>\nattempted murder charges after he reportedly beat his ex-girlfriend<br \/>\nwith a car jack handle, choked her and threatened to kill her if<br \/>\nshe went to police.<br \/>\nMason William Seaborn was arrested Sunday at his home in Fargo. He was being held \u00a0in the Cass County Jail in Fargo while he awaits extradition<br \/>\nto Clay County in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>No lawyer was listed on court documents for Seaborn.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The woman told authorities she was drinking with Seaborn when he<br \/>\nreportedly became angry. He reportedly began punching and hitting<br \/>\nher with a jack handle in his car.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the woman had a broken front tooth, marks and<br \/>\ncuts and was heavily bruised.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nWILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A North Dakota geologist says an<br \/>\nearthquake in the western oil patch is not connected to hydraulic<br \/>\nfracturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 The Friday quake about 11 miles southeast of Williston registered at magnitude 3.3 &#8211; enough to be felt but not strong<br \/>\nenough to cause damage.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Geologist Fred Anderson with the state Mineral Resources<br \/>\nDepartment\u00a0says the \u00a0quake was consistent with historical seismic activity in the region.<\/p>\n<p>He says speculation that oil field fracking might have<br \/>\ncaused it isn&#8217;t plausible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fracking involves pumping water, sand and chemicals underground<br \/>\nto break up shale rock so oil can be retrieved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; The head of the AFL-CIO hopes a national<br \/>\nboycott of American Crystal Sugar products will bring the company<br \/>\nback to the bargaining table and end its 14-month lockout of union<br \/>\nworkers in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>The labor federation announced yesterday that the boycott will begin in a couple of weeks. (AP) &#8211; The Watford City Council has decided<br \/>\nto allow unlimited off-sale liquor licenses in the booming<br \/>\ncommunity in the western North Dakota oil patch.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;Off-sale&#8221; refers to liquor that is sold to be consumed off<br \/>\nthe premises. Watford City has had only one off-sale license for<br \/>\nnearly 60 years, because city ordinance allows only one per 3,000<br \/>\nresidents.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city is growing quickly because of the oil boom. The<br \/>\nofficial 2010 census is 1,740 people, but the city estimates the<br \/>\nactual number is more than 5,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An El Salvador citizen who was deported<br \/>\ntwice from the United States has been sentenced for illegally<br \/>\nentering the country a third time.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carlos Guerrero-Gutierrez pleaded guilty earlier to re-entry of<br \/>\ndeported alien.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Guerrero-Gutierrez was a passenger in a vehicle<br \/>\nthat was stopped for a traffic violation on July 2 near Watford<br \/>\nCity.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Guerrero-Gutierrez was convicted of sexual battery in Oklahoma<br \/>\nin 2003 and was deported.
