Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a convicted High Risk Sex Offender, residing in the City of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

34 year old Shaun Michael Johnson is living at the State Hospital Transitional Home, 2308 Circle Drive, Jamestown, ND<\/p>\n

He is a white male 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

Johnson has been convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition in July of 2005 in Williams County District Court, with a disposition of 5 years suspended for 10 years with 10 years of supervised probation.<\/p>\n

He was also convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition, in December of 1998 in Williams County District Court, with the disposition of 5 years with 4 and a half years suspended for 8 years.<\/p>\n

Johnson was convicted of Indecent Exposure in November of 1995 in Williams County Juvenile Court, with the disposition of one year probation.<\/p>\n

Johnson is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation, and GPS monitoring.<\/p>\n

Johnson is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and is not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n

Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Friday June 27, 2014, is the first day in the nine-day period that fireworks can be sold and set off in North Dakota for the Fourth of July holiday.<\/p>\n

Each year, North Dakota law allows purchasing and detonating fireworks from June 27 to July 5.<\/p>\n

Jamestown city Ordinance allows the sale and detonation of fireworks from 9 a.m. to midnight June 27 to July 3. On July 4th<\/sup> fireworks may be set off from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. July 5th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Six businesses in Jamestown plan to sell fireworks.<\/p>\n

Anyone setting off fireworks outside of the designated hours could be ticketed for violating the city ordinance.<\/p>\n

A fireworks shooting violation is a Class B misdemeanor, which has a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

A reminder, Jamestown Speedway hosts a public fireworks display on July 5. The fireworks begin sometime after 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

Those shooting off fireworks at home, should always follow the instructions on the fireworks label.<\/p>\n

Have a container of water, fire extinguisher or other safety precautions nearby.<\/p>\n

Children using fireworks should be under adult supervision, even sparklers.<\/p>\n

Remember our animal friends are usually scared of loud, booming noises and bright, flashing lights.<\/p>\n

Keep pets inside when setting off fireworks.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The annual Kiddies Bike Parade will take place on July 4th at 10 a.m. on First Avenue South. This 1 \u00bd mile leisurely paced parade will start at the south parking lot on first avenue and proceed south on first Avenue to 8th<\/span> Street, over to second avenue southeast and then south to and through McElroy Park, ending up at the Sertoma Shelter for prize presentations and treats by the Sertoma Club.<\/p>\n

Bikers are asked to be at the south parking lot by 9:30 a.m. to get into their positions for the parade.<\/p>\n

All bikers are invited to ride in the parade and must wear bike helmets. This family event encourages families to walk together with parents accompanying younger bikers. No motorized bikes of any kind are allowed.<\/p>\n

All bikers under 12 will receive a coupon for a free kiddies ice cream cone from Dairy Queen of Jamestown, Fantastic Fireworks will be giving coupons for a free pack of sparklers and the Sertoma Club will serve all bikers and friends free root beer floats at the conclusion of the parade.<\/p>\n

The theme of the parade is the 4th of July and prizes will be awarded for the best decorated bikes First place $20, Second and Third place $10 each. At the start of the parade, kids 7 to12 can register for a boys\u2019 and 2 girls\u2019 bike to be given away, courtesy of Walmart, and two bike helmets courtesy of Central Valley Health. Kids 13 to 18 can register for two $10 prizes.<\/p>\n

Judging for best decorated bikes will take place at the parking lot and announced at the Sertoma Shelter after the parade. Judging will be based on display of red, white and blue decorations, originality and first impressions<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Arts Center, and the Arts Park in downtown Jamestown will host activities celebrating the Germans from Russia Culture, on Saturday June 28, 2014, from 1-5-p.m.<\/p>\n

Arts Center Director, Taylor Barnes said the first of the three events this summer will be at the Arts Park. In case of bad weather it will be moved indoors, at the Arts Center.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s activities will also food, crafts, children\u2019s games and music, in the Germans from Russia culture.<\/p>\n

Members of the James Valley chapter of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society are helping organize the event.<\/p>\n

Knephla soup, German tacos and honey cookies will be sold during the event to raise funds for the Germans fro Russia Heritage Society.<\/p>\n

There will be music, and a woodcarving workshop, using soap, which begins at 1:30-p.m.<\/p>\n

Coming up, the Arts Center will host a fine crafts and farmers market July 26, 2014, in conjunction with the Chef\u2019s Challenge event planned by the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

During the August 28, 2014 Community Block Party the Arts Center will host John Austin, a glass blower from Fargo, demonstrating the making of glassware, heating glass material and blowing into the material.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A suspect is in custody in a shooting death in Fargo.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the 24-year-old male suspect was detained near the scene of the shooting at a duplex about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and later arrested on a murder charge. Formal charges were not immediately filed.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police did not immediately identify the 28-year-old victim, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A former Minot State University football player convicted of assaulting a Minot police officer has been sentenced to one year in jail. A jury in May found Jesse Ili guilty of preventing arrest and assault on a peace officer, along with a drug charge. He faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in custody.<\/p>\n

HILLSBORO, N.D. (AP) – A Minnesota man has been charged with vehicular homicide for the deaths of two sisters in a high speed crash near Hillsboro last month.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Mercedes Rowley, of Sharon, and 21-year-old Teja Beyer, of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, were passengers in a car that went off a Traill County road and rolled. The women were thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the driver of the car, James Yahnke (YONK’-ee), of Nielsville, Minnesota, was driving 94 mph when the car crashed. He was cited for drunk driving.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yahnke was airlifted to a Fargo hospital following the crash.\u00a0 He’s still recovering from his injuries and is not in custody.<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Minot Air Force Base officials say they detained a man who entered the northern North Dakota military installation without authorization.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Base public affairs officials tell KXMC-TV that the man drove in through the main gate without getting cleared by security forces, setting off a basewide search about 8 a.m. yesterday.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A satellite TV company has been told to stop going door-to-door in North Dakota until authorities can investigate complaints of misleading and aggressive sales tactics.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has ordered Dish One Satellite, LLC, of Provo, Utah, to suspend all sales and installations of satellite TV services in the state.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says they have received complaints that sales representatives for the company have been elusive about their employer. Some claimed to work for Midcontinent or DirecTV.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There have been reports that sales people have claimed they were checking for installation or service problems and once inside the home, badgered consumers and refused to leave.

(AP) – U.S. officials say the danger posed by a dramatic increase in North American oil train traffic extends far beyond shipments from the booming Bakken region on the Northern Plains. Acting National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Chris Hart says all crude shipments are flammable and a risk to communities and the environment – not just the Bakken oil involved in a string of fiery accidents.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Board of Higher Education has approved its biennial budget request that asks for a nearly 14 percent increase in funding and freeze tuition at the state’s 11 colleges and universities from 2015 to 2017. The board added the tuition freeze and asked for $9.5 million more a few days before yesterday’s meeting in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Health Department says there are 365 confirmed cases of HIV\/AIDS in North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health officials say about one-fourth of the people estimated to be HIV positive are believed to be unaware of their infection and they could unknowingly be transmitting the disease.

\u00a0UNDATED (AP) – It will be the United States against Belgium in the second round of World Cup next Tuesday. The U.S. finished second in Group G despite yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Germany, and the Belgians beat South Korea 1-0 yesterday to finish 3-0 in group play. The Americans actually advanced with Portugal’s 2-1 win over Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Belgium warmed up for next Tuesday’s second-round against the United States by downing South Korea 1-0 to win Group H. Algeria has qualified for the knockout stage for the first time with a 1-1 draw against Russia. The Algerians next face Germany on Monday.

The leader is Greg Chalmers, who shot a 5-under 66 for a one-shot lead over Ricky Barnes and Freddie Jacobson.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken UCLA guard Zach LaVine with the 13th overall pick in the first round. LaVine averaged 9.4 points and shot 37.5 percent from 3-point range as a freshman for the Bruins last season. He is considered one of the most athletic players in the draft.
\nThe Minnesota Timberwolves have selected Michigan forward Glenn Robinson III with the 40th overall pick in the second round of the NBA draft. Robinson averaged 13.1 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Wolverines as a sophomore last year. He’s the son of former NBA player and Purdue star Glenn Robinson.
\n\u00a0The Brooklyn Nets have acquired the rights to No. 44 pick Markel Brown from Minnesota. The Nets sent the Timberwolves cash considerations for the guard from Oklahoma State last night. Brown averaged 17.2 points last season.<\/p>\n

He averaged 18 points for the Magic last season.\u00a0 Fournier is an up-and-coming guard whose minutes increased late in the season. The documents show that of the 11 suicides in New York City jails over the past five years, safeguards designed to prevent inmates from harming themselves weren’t followed in at least nine cases. New York City’s overall jail suicide rate is lower than the national average.
