(AP) &#8211; A 92-year-old Valley City woman who was struck by a pickup truck has died.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rita Weber had been hospitalized in Fargo since being struck in a crosswalk on June 22. Valley City police say she died on Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No charges have been filed against the 32-year-old driver, but authorities are continuing to investigate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Starting July 7, 2014 those in Valley City that encounter problems relating to sewers, power outages, or water problems will be able to call a 24 hour phone number.<\/p>\n<p>The Valley City Public Works office will have a number, 845-0380 to call after business hours including weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Of course if the situation is an emergency, dial 9-1-1.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) While boiling water is not required Jamestown residents using the municipal water system make want to take precautions. The system received two failed bacteria tests this month. Jamestown Utility Operations Director, Steve Suko, says city is notifying residents by mail today.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The tests by the North Dakota Health Department indicated the presence of coliform bacteria in two samples taken about a week apart at one of the routine testing locations in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) Executive Committee recommends that rental real estate developers work with local governments if they want to use the Bank of North Dakota Flex Pace Affordable Housing Program.<\/p>\n<p>The program is not currently offered by the JSDC.<\/p>\n<p>The program provides a Bank of North Dakota grant of $25,000 for each unit the developer designates as renting at or below the affordable rent for community. The local community has to provide a percentage match for the grant and must determine what rent amount is considered affordable.<\/p>\n<p>One option discussed was using the median household income for Jamestown established by the U.S. Census Bureau as a starting point for establishing affordable rent. That amount is about $45,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The 117<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Stutsman County Fair this year in Jamestown runs July 2-5.<\/p>\n<p>Gate admission is $5 for those 13 years old and older, $2 for those 7 to 12 years old, and free for those 6 and younger. A four-day pass is $12.<\/p>\n<p>Ride passes for all four days are $45 and are available at: Casey&#8217;s General Store and Neighborhood Grocery.<\/p>\n<p>They will not be available after Wednesday evening. A single-day ride wristband costs $25.<\/p>\n<p>Fairgoers will be treated to great fair food, the rodeo, over two dozen carnival rides, live music, auto racing and more than 1,600 livestock and static projects.<\/p>\n<p>The earlier dates this year allows the run of Murphy Brothers Exposition carnival rides, Officials say the carnival will offer more and larger rides than in the past.<\/p>\n<p>4-H projects, will be featured, as all 12 Stutsman County 4-H Clubs with 200 members, will have static projects, that will be judged.<\/p>\n<p>A reminder that this year&#8217;s livestock Premium Sale and livestock breeding parade will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, with a covered arena for livestock showing will be in place, in the event of bad weather.<\/p>\n<p>Free entertainment starts off on Wednesday with the ever-popular, Johnny Holm Band Tripwire performs Thursday, Brad Lee Schroeder on Friday and Dirty Word on Saturday. While Dirty Word is the band of &#8220;The Voice&#8221; contestant Kat Perkins. It was noted that Perkins WILL NOT be in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>James River Rodeo Inc. performs at 7 p.m. Friday the 4th, the same time go-kart races begin.<\/p>\n<p>The Don Wilhelm Stock Car Classic and Parade of 4-H Champions is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, the 5<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Another James River Rodeo performance follows at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; One person died and another was injured when a police pursuit in Wahpeton ended with the suspect&#8217;s vehicle crashing into a utility pole.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Monday night pursuit lasted for only about a few blocks before the suspect&#8217;s van crashed. Authorities say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and both occupants were ejected.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 26-year-old driver died at a Wahpeton hospital. The passenger was taken to a Fargo hospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The chase began when an officer spotted the van speeding through a stop sign.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Trial has been pushed back in an illegal weapons case against a North Dakota man who has been questioned in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme in Spokane, Washington.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 James Henrikson, of Watford City, is charged in federal court with being a felon in charge of a firearm. His trial was originally scheduled for July 22.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Henrikson had business dealings in the North Dakota oil patch with Doug Carlile, who was shot and killed by an intruder on Dec. 15 at his Spokane home. Henrikson has denied involvement in Carlile&#8217;s death.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Henrikson was arrested in January. Authorities say they discovered several firearms and a large amount of ammunition at Henrikson&#8217;s residence in Watford City.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A judge on Monday agreed to reschedule trial for Sept. 23 in Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former Mandan teacher accused of giving two teenage girls a sexually explicit book he had written has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-five-year-old Scott Allan allegedly gave the 17- and 18-year-old girls the book as a graduation gift. Characters in the book allegedly were based on the girls.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Allan resigned May 22, hours after school officials had placed him on administrative leave. He appeared in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of promoting obscenity to minors and a misdemeanor disorderly conduct count.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 30. He could face more than five years in prison if convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The sentencing of a man who worked for a Texas company that illegally sold the chemicals traced to the synthetic drug deaths of two North Dakota teenagers has been postponed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Attorney&#8217;s office says the sentencing of 26-year-old John Polinksi, of Houston, has been rescheduled for July 21 at 2:15 p.m.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Polinksi is the last of 15 people to be convicted in a case that federal authorities dubbed &#8220;Operation Stolen Youth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Williston police say a man upset with neighbors setting off fireworks responded by firing a shotgun, injuring two people.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities responded to the scene Friday night. Officers say David Bartz told them he had fired his 20-gauge shotgun into the air because he was &#8220;fed up&#8221; with his neighbors shooting off fireworks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say two people were injured by shotgun pellets. Bartz allegedly told law officers that the victims were &#8220;a bunch of sissies&#8221; and deserved what they got.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bartz is charged with three counts of felony terrorizing, two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm within city limits. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney. A listed telephone number for him could not immediately be found.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; State transportation officials say floodwaters have receded from all lanes of U.S. Highway 83 in central North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heavy weekend rains swamped the highway near Coleharbor. The Transportation Department says water had receded from all four lanes by Monday afternoon, and traffic on the main north-south artery in central North Dakota is moving at normal speeds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Water remains on a section of state Highway 256 south of Antler, in north central North Dakota. Traffic is allowed, with reduced speeds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota farmers have planted a larger wheat crop in 2014 than they did a year ago, and a record soybean crop.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department estimates this year&#8217;s spring wheat crop in the state at 5.9 million acres, up 16 percent over the year. The durum wheat crop is estimated at 870,000 acres, up 9 percent from 2013.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department also estimates a record 6 million soybean acres in the state, up 29 percent from last year. This mirrors a national trend. Nationally, soybean acreage is up 11 percent over the year to a record 84.8 million acres.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The increase came at the expense of corn. (AP) &#8211; The Workforce Development Division at the North Dakota Department of Commerce has a new leader. Wayde Sick has been named director of the division. He&#8217;ll oversee programs and services aimed at enhancing the state&#8217;s workforce. Sick previously was workforce talent and project coordinator for the Workforce Development Division.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OMAHA, Neb. (AP) &#8211; A monthly economic survey that will give some insight into the health of the economy in nine Midwestern and Plains states will be released today. The survey covers North Dakota, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Oklahoma. Recent versions of the survey have suggested that healthy economic growth is ahead for the region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D.
