The annual event has been held for nearly three decades and gives visitors a glimpse of how North Dakota\u2019s early settlers lived.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a family event with turn-of-the-century demonstrations involving cooking, blacksmithing, small engine work, threshing, haying and weaving. The event begins on July 12, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Events start on July 13, 2014 at 7 a.m., with field presentations starting at 10 a.m. Those in attendance can observe as workers use century-old methods to fill the 100-year-old Sunne Barn hay loft.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights of the two-day event include: pie baking and a pie auction on Saturday; an old-time music jam at 8 p.m. Saturday and live music both days in the Music Building; a parade on Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m.; pancake breakfast Sunday starting at 7 a.m.; interdenominational church service on Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Music Building; kids\u2019 events including tug-o-war and watermelon seed spitting, both days.<\/p>\n<p>Admission is $7 per person, and children ages 12 and under are free.<\/p>\n<p>The Fort Ransom State Park daily vehicle entrance fee is waived during Sodbuster Days. The event is sponsored by the Fort Ransom Sodbuster Association and the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department.
