THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT SOME STORMS COULD BE SEVERE.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a two vehicle accident on Monday about 11:40-a.m., at the intersection of Highway 200 and Highway 281 at Carrington, injured a 38 year old Minot woman.<\/p>\n<p>The report says the 2002 Buick Le Sabre was operated by 43 year old Shelley Jones, of Island Lake, Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>The report says her vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 281 and struck a southbound 2010 Toyota Camry operated by 38 year old Michelle Rexin of Minot<\/p>\n<p>The Toyota rotated onto the northbound lane and into a 2000 Volvo semi that was stopped to turn west onto highway 200.<\/p>\n<p>The Volvo was driven by Volodymyr Kotsiuba from Portland, Oregon. Zhanna Perepechkina, also from Portland, was a passenger in the Volvo. Both occupants were wearing seat belts and were not injured.<\/p>\n<p>Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.<\/p>\n<p>Jones was charged with DUI. Rexin was taken to Carrington Heath Center for treatment of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Assisting the Highway Patrol at the scene were the Carrington Police Department, Foster County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Carrington Fire and Rescue, and New Rockford Fire and Rescue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The owner of a former youth chemical dependency center in Jamestown has agreed to settle a civil suit over allegations of misconduct among staff members, one of whom allegedly had sex with residents and encouraged them to use drugs and alcohol, according to court documents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Recently unsealed court documents show that the complaint was filed six years ago on behalf of 11 minors against Fargo-based Drake Counseling Center Inc. and Charles Drake. The suit says the center &#8220;absolutely failed in its duty to the children involved.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No criminal charges were filed in the case and the Drake Counseling Center license is in good standing with the state. Drake now runs a similar adolescent treatment center near Detroit Lakes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Drake and his lawyer didn&#8217;t respond to requests for comment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) On Saturday the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center was evacuated for about a half hour as the Valley City Fire Department call, of a smoke odor from a fluorescent light fixture ballast in the office.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Fire Chief Gary Retterath says fixture was quickly repaired.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the call, people and animals were inside the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center during the Barnes County 4-H Achievement Days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) The NDDOT reminds motorists that construction work on the Interstate 94 business loop east in Valley City will begin on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 east of the city limits to I-94. Crews will be making asphalt improvements and constructing turning lanes, lighting and guardrails on the I-94 business loop in Valley City. Motorists should be advised of reduced speed limits, width restrictions and temporary lane closures.<\/p>\n<p>Wolski Plaza Road will be realigned\/reconstructed as part of this project. (AP) &#8211; Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota has hired a new president and chief executive officer after the company&#8217;s previous chief was canned following nearly $80 million in financial losses.<\/p>\n<p>The company announced Monday that Chief Operating Officer and Valley City Native, Tim Huckle will serve as president and CEO. Huckle had been serving as the interim chief since May, when Paul von Ebers was fired.<\/p>\n<p>Board chair Ann McConn says in a statement that the 13-member board unanimously voted to hire Huckle, who has logged 29 years with the state&#8217;s dominate insurer.<\/p>\n<p>Huckle also served as interim CEO and president in 2009 after former CEO Mike Unhjem was fired amid criticism over an expensive Caribbean retreat for the insurer&#8217;s employees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a man has been arrested after a stabbing at a Bismarck motel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe man was pounding on doors at the Budget Inn and allegedly breaking into vehicles.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say a man approached the suspect to see what was happening and the man stabbed him with a knife.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the suspect was still holding a knife when officers arrived and wouldn&#8217;t drop the weapon.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say they subdued the suspect with a Taser.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The suspect and the victim were taken to the hospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the state Industrial Commission violated open records laws when it failed to provide meeting minutes in a timely fashion.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem sits on the commission along with Gov. Jack Dalrymple and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. The group manages various business ventures for the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The request for nearly five years of meeting minutes came from a campaign volunteer for Democrat Ryan Taylor, who&#8217;s running against Goehring for ag commissioner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The request was submitted on March 5. The executive director of the commission sent the minutes in stages and ultimately completed the task by April 28.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says the request required more than 2,500 of pages to be reviewed for confidential information, but that did not justify the nearly two-month delay in finishing the job.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota oil drillers produced an average of about 1.04 million barrels of oil a day in May.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state&#8217;s Department of Mineral Resources says the production was up from about 1 million barrels a day in April.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota oil patch saw a record 10,892 producing wells in May, up from 10,665 wells in April.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state produced 36.9 million cubic feet of natural gas in May, an all-time high. That&#8217;s up from 34.1 million cubic feet of natural gas in April.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oil production numbers typically lag about two months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota regulators have approved a $7.9 million pipeline that will supply crude for a diesel refinery under construction near Dickinson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 three-member Public Service Commission unanimously approved a 20-mile pipeline project proposed by Casper, Wyo.-based Belle Fourche Pipeline Co.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The pipeline would pass through parts of Billings, Dunn and Stark counties. It would run parallel to an existing system where another pipeline already is in place.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck-based MDU Resources Group Inc. and Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Products Partners are building the Dakota Prairie Refinery. Officials have said it could cost up to $300 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The facility will process North Dakota crude to help meet an unprecedented need for diesel fuel in the booming oil patch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Cooler weather across North Dakota has been a boost for small grains, canola and flaxseed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department says in its weekly report that most major crops in North Dakota are rated in good condition. Canola conditions were at 85 percent good to excellent, and flaxseed was 77 percent good to excellent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Both durum wheat and spring wheat were rated 82 percent good to excellent. (AP) &#8211; The parents of a murdered Sioux Falls teen say they&#8217;re attempting to cope<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 David and Pat Swain say they are happy to see justice for their son but the brutality of the crime is still hard on them.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eighteen-year-old John Swain was killed and dismembered last year, after recently moving to Bismarck, North Dakota from Sioux Falls.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pat Swain called the murder of her son &#8220;senseless.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury found 20-year-old Joshua Clark guilty of conspiracy to commit murder last week in Bismarck. Authorities allege that Clark and 26-year-old Theo Crowe conspired to kill John Swain.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crowe pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge and was sentenced in January to life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sentencing is pending for Clark, who could be sentenced to life in prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) &#8211; A New Jersey mayor is lashing out at residents who are memorializing a man who killed a police officer over the weekend. A temporary memorial was on display Monday in the Jersey City neighborhood where Lawrence Campbell lived. It includes candles and balloons. Police say Campbell ambushed 23-year-old officer Melvin Santiago early Sunday, before being shot and killed by other officers. Campbell&#8217;s widow told News 12 New Jersey she is sorry for Santiago&#8217;s family but that her husband should have killed more officers if they were planning to kill him. The mayor is calling her comments &#8212; and the memorial &#8212; &#8220;disgusting&#8221; and &#8220;ignorant.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Two Texas lawmakers are teaming up on a bill to speed removals of the unaccompanied Central American kids who&#8217;ve been arriving by the tens of thousands at the U.S.-Mexico border. The legislation by Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and Congressman Henry Cuellar (KWAY&#8217;-yar), a Democrat, would allow Border Patrol agents to turn many of the kids around quickly at the border. Under current law, the youths stay in the U.S. while awaiting an eventual hearing in the backlogged immigration court system, something that can keep them in this country for years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BOSTON (AP) &#8211; Federal prosecutors and defense attorneys have rested their cases in the trial of a friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR&#8217; tsahr-NEYE&#8217;-ehv). The friend, Azamat Tazhayakov (AZ&#8217;-maht tuh-ZAY&#8217;-uh-kahv) is charged with obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
