DAMAGING WINDS \u00a0IN EXCESS OF 75 MILES PER HOUR WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0LARGE HAIL ALSO \u00a0LIKELY&#8230;WITH A TORNADO ALSO POSSIBLE.\u00a0 INTENSE RAINFALL RATES ARE EXPECTED&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0DANGEROUS HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TODAY.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The cause of a grass fire Sunday afternoon about 4:15 is under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Rural Fire Department out about a mile and a half east of the Interstate 94 Bloom Exit.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Ben Maulding says four fire fighters responded with the fire extinguised in about five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Motorcycle runs in Jamestown over this past weekend highlighted a women&#8217;s only event, and an awareness ride.<\/p>\n<p>For the fist time the annual women-only motorcycle tour started from Jamestown and had 155 riders this year.<\/p>\n<p>The ride in the past has been held in various cities across the state, along with South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Founder and co-organizer Kathy Enders said she&#8217;d like to see the event held in Jamestown again in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The motorcycle run started from Stutsman County Harley-Davidson at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, following a photo shoot at Frontier Village Saturday morning and a banquet at the Gladstone Inn &amp; Suites Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Also over the weekend, the first Jamestown motorcycle ride was held, &#8220;Silence the Stigma,&#8221; bringing attention to suicide prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Over 80 bikers, riders and drivers helped to raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Ride Chairperson Margo Haut points out that part of erasing the stigma around mental illness and suicide is education.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday&#8217;s event raised $4,905, to be divided between the national chapter of the foundation and the local chapter, with local funds to be used to start a support group and to supplement education and prevention work at Jamestown High School.<\/p>\n<p>The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a free, 24\/7 service that supports people who are suicidal or those around them, can be reached at (800) 273-8255.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The James River Valley Library 1\/4 % (percent) Sales Tax petition is now being circulated.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable the JRVLS Development Director, Bill Kennedy, and Library Director, Joe Rector were guest with the latest updates on the proposed Alfred Dickey Public Library and renovation and expansion project.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy said the petition currently in circulation needs 1,452 signatures to put the 1\/4% sales tax on the November 4, 2014 ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The November 4, 2014 vote on approving the sales tax is county wide, as approval by voters would amend the Stutsman County Home Rule Charter.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy added that 25 volunteers are gathering signatures that are due to the County Auditor by September 4, 2014, 60 days prior to the election.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements for gathering signatures or signing the petition are the same. You must be 18 years old by the November 4th election, a US citizen, and a resident of Stutsman County for at least 30 days prior to the election.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the average Stutsman County family will pay $33.75 a year for the new library addition and remodel of Alfred Dickey, which is estimated to bring in $700,000, annually.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated cost of the new library is $9,000,000. Pledges and donations will reduce the amount needed to finance the new library to approximately $7,500,000.<\/p>\n<p>The sales tax will continue until the debt on the new library is retired.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Rector added that the libraries will go from their current 14,600 sq. ft. to 27,000 sq. ft. State requirements for new libraries in counties the size of Stutsman are at least 25,000 sf for new construction.<\/p>\n<p>Alfred Dickey will keep its classic facade and interior details while being renovated to today&#8217;s electronic standards. The new addition adjacent to the north of Alfred Dickey will reflect the library\u2019s classic fa\u00e7ade, while providing a vision to the future in its interior.<\/p>\n<p>Renderings of the new library will be available for public view by the end of the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Those wishing to help gather signatures, can contact Bill Kennedy at the Stutsman County Library, 701-252-2217, or by email, <a href=\"mailto:billkennedy0@gmail.com\"><b>billkennedy0@gmail.com<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Plans have been moving ahead on a new 108 hotel in Southwest Jamestown, and now construction may begin shortly on the new hotel.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel is a joint venture of Paces Lodging Corporation of Fargo, and Clarice Liechty of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Paces Lodging\u2019s Developer, Darren Trudeau says the location of the hotel is planned directly west of the Buffalo Mall, adjacent to the road leading to the planned Menard\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau adds the hotel will be franchised under one of the Marriott brands, saying the Marriott brand had targeted the Jamestown area for many years.<\/p>\n<p>He says construction on the foundations will begin as soon as building permits are obtained in mid- to late-August, with completion estimated in May or June of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Liechty adds that the hotel is planned to include conference rooms, along with a swimming pool with water slide.<\/p>\n<p>Not planned for the hotel at this time is either a restaurant or a bar.<\/p>\n<p>A five-year tax exemption for the property is on the August 4, 2014, City Council meeting agenda, for the estimated $10 million, project.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fire has damaged a home northwest of Bismarck that was being rebuilt following Missouri River flooding three years ago.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No one was hurt in the Sunday afternoon blaze. Investigators did not immediately determine the cause, though they believe the fire started in the garage and spread to the house.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rural Fire Capt. Randy Jacobson sats temperatures in the 90s on Sunday hampered firefighters, with some becoming overheated and having to take breaks<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An early Sunday morning fire in West Fargo has heavily damaged a historic church on the grounds of Bonanzaville Pioneer Village.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire Chief Roy Schatschneider says the fire at St. John&#8217;s Lutheran Church was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Schatschneider says there&#8217;s &#8220;severe fire damage&#8221; to the front portion of the church.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flames were visible on the main floor of the wooden church when crews arrived on scene. The fire eventually spread into the high steeple.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Schatschneider says firefighters found the basement steps destroyed but he says they&#8217;re not sure if that&#8217;s where the fire started.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An investigation is underway to determine what started the fire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BURLINGTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A fire west of Burlington has claimed one family&#8217;s home.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBurlington and Minot Rural Fire Departments were called out around 11:30 a.m. Saturday for fire at a mobile home west of Highway 2 and 52.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Minot Rural Fire Assistant Chief Rob Knuth says the family was home at the time but no injuries were reported.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Mid-Dakota Chapter of the American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s unclear how the fire started.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man is accused of a brutal beating on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation that left a woman hospitalized and on a ventilator.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ryan Thunderhawk, of Fort Yates, is charged in federal court with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Witnesses say the victim was knocked unconscious three separate times in the July 6 attack.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The woman suffered a broken nose and several facial fractures.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A detention hearing in the case is scheduled Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota National Guard soldiers who spent nearly a year helping protect the air space in the Washington, D.C., area have been honored for their service.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Guard held a ceremony in Grand Forks on Sunday to formally honor the members of the 188th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. More than 200 soldiers with the unit returned home in May from the homeland security mission.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was the 10th deployment for the battalion, making the 188th the most-deployed North Dakota Guard unit during the global war on terror. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s workforce agency says a shift in the labor market has drawn more women seeking permanent work in the oil and gas industry of western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Job Service North Dakota kept tabs on gender ratios in the workforce from January to June.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOverall the total number of people walking into the downtown Williston office looking for work increased by 33 percent to 2,264 in June. The event also served as an opportunity for residents and former residents to put some of the town&#8217;s recent past behind the<\/p>\n<p>Leith spent about 10 months battling with white supremacist Craig Cobb, who tried unsuccessfully to take over the town and turn it into an all-white enclave.
