Valley City (CSi) At a public informational meeting to review flood wall options for\u00a0Phase One,\u00a0of the permanent flood protection project, Monday, residents received information from Valley City and KLJ officials .<\/p>\n

About 40 people were on hand, athe VCSU Skoal Room.<\/p>\n

The Valley City commission will vote on approval of one option, either at the August 5, 2014 regular city commission meeting or early in September.<\/p>\n

Bids will be let for contractors at that time.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police is asking the public if they have information concerning items a Jamestown plumbing business employee has admitted he took for homes that he worked in.<\/p>\n

Chad Gourneau has apologized after he admitted to stealing from people\u2019s homes.<\/p>\n

Gourneau was arrested after police found he had stolen nearly $20,000 in coins, jewelry and silver while doing plumbing, heating, and cooling work inside residents homes.<\/p>\n

Valley News Live reported that two Jamestown residents called their Whistleblower Hotline after they had found that Gourneau had worked in their home.<\/p>\n

Gourneau has been cooperating with police since being caught, and admitted to have stolen from at least 12 houses<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police believe he\u2019s stolen from more.<\/p>\n

He was formerly employed at Pioneer Plumbing in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

There are still items that have been recovered. Anyone missing items or know someone who is missing items from the incident, are asked contact the Jamestown Police t at 701-252-2414.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) David Kuhn is running to call attention to those with Cystic Fibrosis.<\/p>\n

The 62 year old Kuhn, who is blind, passed through Jamestown on an 11,000 mile 18 month run, to increase awareness of the disease affecting his 12 year old granddaughter, Kylie.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Kuhn said, he started from Seattle, enroute to Bangor, Maine, then south Jacksonville, Florida, west to San Diego, and north, back to Seattle.<\/p>\n

He finds a running guide to help him “see” along the way, and runs a scenic route, or track.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s running the track at the University of Jamestown, along with other scenic routes in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday morning Kuhn, who is also a marathon runner, had covered about 75 miles in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Kuhn also travels by bus or by car besides running.<\/p>\n

Also on our show was Nellie Degen, who is helping Kuhn coordinate running guides while he\u2019s in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Cystic Fibrosis is an illness primarily affects the lungs and digestive system.<\/p>\n

So far, Kuhn has raised more than $3,400 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, that funds CF research.<\/p>\n

\u3000Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Buffalo Mall is again sponsoring their annual Back to School “Stuff the Bus” program.<\/p>\n

A bus is placed inside the main entrance of the mall and will remain there until August 15th.<\/p>\n

Donations for the bus can also be delivered to Gate City Bank. School supplies are encouraged to be donated for area children in need. The mall\u2019s goal is to fill the bus with backpacks, folders, notebooks and everything a child needs for going back to school.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors will meet next month to establish four to six strategic tourism goals.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund said, eight to ten goals will be established by a tourism board committee that will become Jamestown Tourism\u2019s new three-year strategic plan.<\/p>\n

Swedlund said Jamestown Tourism just completed rebranding, and the information the board gathered from the rebranding process should be used by board members when coming up with goals for the strategic plan.<\/p>\n

In other business, the tourism board, approved the Jamestown Tourism Executive Advisory Board reviewing applicants for membership on the Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors and make a recommendation for appointments.<\/p>\n

The board also authorized Swedlund to obtain a cost estimate for trademarking Jamestown Tourism\u2019s logo, “Discover Jamestown.”<\/p>\n

Tourism board President Alden Kollman said trademarking the logo is essential, enabling organizations wanting to utilize “Discover Jamestown,” on a website or in print, how the logo can be uesd, including approved accompanying color schemes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 NAPOLEON, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota farmer has died in a grain bin accident.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Logan County sheriff\u00a0says \u00a0Marvin Grenz of Napoleon died Saturday after being buried in grain for nearly 40 minutes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was found by family members who called police. Emergency responders say they retrieved his body after eight minutes.

Bismarck (CSi) The NDDOT reports that beginning this week, crews will be working on culverts along I- 94 three miles east of the Oriska Interchange.<\/p>\n

During construction:<\/p>\n

* Speeds will be reduced to 55 mph<\/p>\n

* One lane closure will be in place in the eastbound direction<\/p>\n

* One lane closure will be in place in the westbound direction<\/p>\n

* 15-foot width restrictions will be in place<\/p>\n

The project is expected to take approximately two months.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man is in custody in West Fargo after allegedly leading police on a chase, ramming a squad car and trying to force his way into a home.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege that the 25-year-old suspect also threw a backpack containing a loaded gun and a bolt cutter during the foot chase.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident began as a traffic stop about 1 a.m. Wednesday. After police put the driver in a squad car while they identified him, the suspect allegedly slid into the driver’s seat of the suspect vehicle and took off, ramming a squad car and crashing into a road sign a few blocks away.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Formal charges were not immediately filed against the suspect, who authorities say is also wanted on a Minnesota warrant.

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Mandan man who provided the methamphetamine that led to his girlfriend’s fatal overdose aims to spend his time in prison turning his life around. That’s what a lawyer for Joseph Senger says. Senger has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison. The federal case involves 13 defendants in North Dakota and South Dakota.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Essentia Health in Fargo has apologized for giving the names and mailing addresses of hundreds of patients to a private marketing company.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The breach came to light in June when about 430 patients received a letter inviting them to a seminar for people with lower back pain. At least one woman complained, and Essentia last week sent out letters acknowledging the breach and apologizing.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Essentia says no patient medical information was involved.\u00a0 Officials issued a statement saying Essentia takes patient privacy seriously and goes to great lengths to protect patient health information.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Essentia also says it did not sell the names and addresses, and that the marketing company has returned the information.
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck is pursuing an affiliation with the Catholic Health Initiatives nonprofit.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The hospital and nonprofit say the goal would be to enhance services and improve care. Officials say that if a final agreement is reached, the affiliation could occur by the end of the year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Catholic Health Initiatives is based in Colorado, with a division based in Fargo. It has several facilities in North Dakota, but none in Bismarck.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 St. Alexius serves residents of central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota through its Bismarck hospital and facilities in several other cities. It is associated with the Benedictine Sisters of the Annunciation Monastery in Bismarck.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – An Idaho man working in the North Dakota oil patch says a trucking company is breaking federal law by failing to pay overtime.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Devon Seeling, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has filed a civil lawsuit against Moorhead, Minnesota-based AM-PM Trucking LLC, which maintains an office in Underwood, North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Seeling says he regularly worked more than 60 hours per week. The suit says rather than pay overtime for more than 40 hours of work, the company paid Seeling and other drivers a percentage of the revenue generated by each truckload.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The complaint seeks unspecified damages. Seeling is asking for class action status for drivers who have worked for AM-PM Trucking in the last three years.

\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – West Fargo officials are warning residents that a watering ban may be implemented if existing restrictions aren’t followed.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 West Fargo Public Works says residents with automatic sprinkler systems should check their settings. The city’s policy allows for lawn watering based on a property’s address. Odd numbered addresses are allowed to water lawns on odd days of the month, and vice versa.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department says watering shouldn’t be done between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. because up to 30 percent of the water used then is evaporated. It says such watering is costly and a waste of natural resources.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A New York company is planning residential and commercial developments worth at least $65 million in the North Dakota oil patch town of Watford City.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coltown Properties principal Israel Weinberger says his company is planning two projects on Watford City’s Main Street. The Madison Heights development will consist of seven apartment buildings and cost between $45 million and $50 million. The first three buildings will be ready for occupants this fall.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coltown is also planning a pair of buildings at Watford City’s entrance that will house retail space and offices. Weinberger says that project will cost between $20 million and $25 million and will be ready by late 2015 or early 2016.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says she thinks Robert McDonald will bring a new outlook as secretary for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McDonald was confirmed Tuesday by a vote of 97-0.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp says the job will be tough because McDonald will have to restore the public’s trust in the VA after the recent scandal. But she says his experience in the military and as a CEO of a global company will renew transparency, accountability and reforms within the VA.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She met with McDonald last week to discuss how he would reform the VA, restore trust and focus on reaching out to veterans in rural areas.
