News) \u2013 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to the buffalo pasture, about 9:50 Sunday evening (Oct 7, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>The units put out the fire, apparently caused by an auto accident.<\/p>\n<p>The units were on the scene about an hour.<\/p>\n<p>While the bison were not in danger, fire fighters were careful of the buffalo.<\/p>\n<p>Two equipment trucks, a pumper and a mini-pumper were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>No other details on the car accident were immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a fire Saturday evening, about 10:15 p.m., to 811 20<sup>th<\/sup> Street Southwest, where an enclosed trailer was on fire.<\/p>\n<p>Passsersby report smoke coming from the trailer, parked in the lot of the Comfort Inn, belonging to a hunting party, from Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Damage was limited to the interior of the trailer and some of its contents.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer was able to continue on to Minneapolis .<\/p>\n<p>The probable cause was clothing falling on a car battery.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries reported.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 20 firefighters, two pumpers and two rescue trucks were on the scene about and hour.<\/p>\n<p>The fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014Two early Saturday morning (Oct 6, 2012) accidents on I-94 were blamed on black ice on the surface of railroad overpasses.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, at about 2:27 a.m. a pickup driven by 50 year old Jennifer Maul of Watford City was eastbound on I-94, 37 miles west of Jamestown, when her vehicle went out of control and went into the ditch and over turned.<\/p>\n<p>Maul was injured along with passengers, 14 year old Ahna Klassen, and 8 year old Conner Maul.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer and Ahna were wearing seatbelts. It was not know if Conner was using a safety restraint.<\/p>\n<p>All three were transported by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>Assisting at the scene were the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Kidder County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Jamestown Regional Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>At about 4:25 a.m., Saturday a pickup operated by 38 year old Lynette Rodreguez of Valley City was eastbound on I-94 two miles east of Valley city when her vehicle went out of control on black ice on a railroad overhead, fishtailed into a ditch, and overturned.<\/p>\n<p>She was extracted from the pickup and taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>She was wearing a seatbelt.<\/p>\n<p>Assisting the Highway Patrol were the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Valley City Police Department and the Valley City Crash Rescue.<\/p>\n<p>Both accidents remain under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) will host a Big Sit! at the Warbler Woodland Wildlife Viewing Area.<\/p>\n<p>This FREE, fun event will be held Sunday, October 14<sup>, 2012, <\/sup>from 7:30 am \u2013 dark at the Warbler Woodland Wildlife Viewing Area on the Refuge.<\/p>\n<p>Come for an hour or so, or join us for the day. The Refuge is located northeast of Pingree (off Highway 281) or south west of Kensal (off Highway 9). The Big Sit! is a non-competitive birding event.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Sit! is like a Big Day, or a bird-a-thon in that the object is to tally as many bird species as can be seen or heard within 24 hours from a 17-foot diameter circle.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Sit! is an annual, international, noncompetitive birding event hosted by Bird Watcher&#8217;s Digest and founded by the New Haven (CT) Bird Club.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Sit! has been adopted by the National Wildlife Refuge System as part of National Wildlife Refuge Week celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The Arrowwood NWR is just one of over 550 National Wildlife Refuges spread throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the National Wildlife Refuge System encompasses more than 94 million acres, dedicated to its mission of wildlife conservation.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Sit! allows birders of all ages as well as the non-birding public to enjoy their local National Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>THIS FREE EVENT is OPEN to every person; young or older, birder, nature enthusiast or just a refuge visitor looking for something to do!<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Warbler Woodland Wildlife Viewing Area is located on the east side of Arrowwood Lake, north of 11<sup>th<\/sup> Street SE. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce notes an error in a recent flyer, concerning ticket prices for the Chamber\u2019s, Farmer\u2019s Appreciation Banquet.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson Lisa Hicks says, the flyer mistakenly listed the ticket price as $20. However due to an error, the actual ticket price is $10.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequent publications will list the correct price.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have released the name of a<br \/>\nMoorhead, Minnesota woman who died after she fell from an overpass<br \/>\nonto Interstate 94 and was struck by at least one vehicle.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She is identified as 55-year-old Kristi Garden.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minnesota State Patrol says it appears Garden may have<br \/>\njumped from the overpass in south Moorhead onto the westbound lanes<br \/>\nof I-94. She was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by a<br \/>\n25-year-old Fargo man.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident happened about 8:10 p.m. Saturday, shortly after<br \/>\nauthorities received reports of a woman running in and out of<br \/>\ntraffic on 34th Street South near I-94.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 westbound lanes of I-94 were closed temporarily Saturday evening and traffic rerouted.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 20-year-old man is in custody after<br \/>\nallegedly crashing his pickup truck into a pond while taking a<br \/>\njoyride on a Fargo golf course.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities were called to the Fargo Country Club shortly after<br \/>\nmidnight Saturday and found the truck submerged in the water<br \/>\nhazard.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities pulled the pickup from the water and used sonar<br \/>\nto check the rest of the pond for the driver.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The suspect was found nearby and arrested on several charges<br \/>\nincluding driving under the influence and giving false information<br \/>\nto police.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0TIOGA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Weekend crashes in northwest North Dakota left two people dead and four others injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says one crash happened late Saturday on<br \/>\nstate Highway 40 near Tioga, and the other late Sunday on U.S.<br \/>\nHighway 85 near Alexander. Both crashes involved pickup trucks<br \/>\ncolliding.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-three-year-old Brent Gardner of Grantsville, Utah, died<br \/>\nin the first crash. Forty-three-year-old Jason Smith of Murrieta,<br \/>\nCalif., died in the other.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A man from Colorado was injured in the Saturday crash. Two Texas<br \/>\nresidents and a Nevada man were injured in the Sunday crash.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The crashes happened in western North Dakota&#8217;s oil patch, where<br \/>\npeople from around the country are working.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a convicted felon who walked away from a Mandan halfway house last month has been arrested in Fort Yates.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dustin Hart is charged in federal court with escape. He&#8217;s<br \/>\nscheduled to be arraigned later this week.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Staff members at the halfway house discovered that Hart was<br \/>\nmissing after they were alerted to the fact he had tampered with<br \/>\nhis GPS monitor on the afternoon of Sept. 22.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hart had been convicted in 2009 of possession of a firearm by a<br \/>\nperson convicted of domestic violence. He was sentenced to nearly<br \/>\nthree years in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hart was moved to the halfway house on June 14 and was scheduled<br \/>\nto be released on Dec. 24.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man says he will plead<br \/>\nguilty on a drug charge.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rodney Kirk faces a 10-year minimum mandatory sentence on a<br \/>\nfederal charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled<br \/>\nsubstance.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say officers found 140 grams of pure methamphetamine<br \/>\nduring an October 2011 of Kirk&#8217;s residence in Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A change of plea hearing is scheduled October 16th in Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FORMAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A county prosecutor in southeastern North<br \/>\nDakota is charging many drunken driving offenders with reckless<br \/>\ndriving, instead of driving under the influence.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sargent County State&#8217;s Attorney Lyle Bopp says he wants to give<br \/>\npeople a second chance.<\/p>\n<p>He says he doesn&#8217;t give the same break to repeat offenders and people who have a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.15 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The legal limit for DUI in North Dakota is 0.08 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bopp says there isn&#8217;t much public transportation in Sargent<br \/>\nCounty, and &#8220;people need to get to work.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The penalties for drunken driving and reckless driving are about the<br \/>\nsame. But a reckless driving charge has less effect on insurance<br \/>\nrates.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Highway Patrol spokesman says the agency isn&#8217;t happy about the<br \/>\npractice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DENVER (AP) &#8211; CenturyLink and the union representing 13,000<br \/>\nworkers in 13 states in the West and Midwest have failed to reach a<br \/>\ncontract agreement, but have signed onto a day-to-day extension of<br \/>\nthe expired pact.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Communications Workers of America made the announcement<br \/>\nafter the existing labor contract expired at 11:59 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>CWA spokesman Al Kogler said in a statement that negotiations will<br \/>\ncontinue and workers will remain on the job during the extension.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota fund that helps finance<br \/>\nhousing projects now has more than $11 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incentive fund offers state tax breaks to contributors. For<br \/>\nevery dollar they put in, they owe a dollar less in state income<br \/>\ntax.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This month, Gate City Bank put $1.25 million into the fund. The<br \/>\nbank wants most of the money used for housing projects in<br \/>\nWilliston, Devils Lake and Bowman.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 biggest contributors to the fund have been energy companies and banks.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than 300 individuals have also put money into the fund. It<br \/>\nprovides cheap financing for developers of multi-family housing<br \/>\nprojects.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature created the fund as a way to help alleviate a<br \/>\nhousing shortage in western North Dakota&#8217;s oil-producing region.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BEACH, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Residents of the western North Dakota town of<br \/>\nBeach say they&#8217;re looking forward to hearing fewer train horns in<br \/>\ntown.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city is establishing a &#8220;quiet zone&#8221; for railroads next<br \/>\nspring. Passing trains won&#8217;t be required to sound their horns<br \/>\nunless there is an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The state of North Dakota is supporting<br \/>\narguments by four western counties that they have the right to<br \/>\nbuild roads along section lines.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A section line marks off a square mile of land. Section line<br \/>\nroads could be used for oil companies to get to drilling locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Billings, Golden Valley, McKenzie and Slope counties are suing<br \/>\nthe federal government, claiming they have the right to build roads<br \/>\nalong section lines.<\/p>\n<p>Now the state has made similar claims in its own federal lawsuit.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Environmentalists worry the lawsuits could allow more oil<br \/>\ndrilling in the Little Missouri grasslands in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota high school sophomores now<br \/>\nmay take courses for college credit while they&#8217;re still in high<br \/>\nschool.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota&#8217;s Board of Higher Education has extended<br \/>\n&#8220;dual-credit&#8221; courses to sophomores. Before, only juniors and<br \/>\nseniors could take dual credits.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dickinson High School counselor Maxine Hauck says the credits<br \/>\nare usually good at any college in North Dakota&#8217;s university<br \/>\nsystem.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But Hauck says the classes may count only toward the total<br \/>\nnumber of hours a student needs to graduate. A dual credit may not<br \/>\nsubstitute for a specific college class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota National Guard soldiers who<br \/>\nserved a year in the Middle East were honored Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Guard held a &#8220;Freedom Salute&#8221; Sunday afternoon for the 160<br \/>\nmembers of the 188th Engineer Company.<\/p>\n<p>The unit is based in Wahpeton and Oakes in southeastern North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The soldiers arrived home last August after a year of duty in Kuwait.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The soldiers are from nearly 70 communities across North Dakota<br \/>\nand into Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>They did about 160 construction projects during their time on active duty, doing work valued at more than $2.2 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A number of North Dakota dignitaries attended Sunday&#8217;s ceremony,<br \/>\nincluding U.S. Sen. John Hoeven, Gov.
