News) \u2013 The North Dakota Highway Patrol Reports two semis collided Monday, (Oct 8, 2012) at the intersection of Highway 52 and the bypass west of Jamestown, at about 10:10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The report says, a 2007 Kenworth, operated by 30 year old Shaun Ebach, of Minnewaukan, was southbound toward Jamestown, on Highway 52.<\/p>\n<p>A 2000 International, driven by 50 year old, Calvin Ova, of Jamestown, was eastbound on Highway 52.<\/p>\n<p>Ova\u2019s vehicle stopped at the intersection and continued north, onto Highway 52.<\/p>\n<p>In the process, Ova\u2019s vehicle pulled out in front of Ebach\u2019s semi.<\/p>\n<p>Attempting to avoid a crash, Ebach\u2019s vehicle veer west onto the bypass<\/p>\n<p>The truck and trailer rolled onto its side, in the south ditch, losing its load of canola.<\/p>\n<p>Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, no injuries reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Then, before noon on Monday, a semi from Washington State was hauling apples on I-94 eastbound when the semi left the roadway, near Exit 272.<\/p>\n<p>Workers were on the scene after noon transferring the load to another trailer, early Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were immediately noted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; A one-vehicle accident Sunday night (October 7, 2012) cause a fire in the National Buffalo Museum pasture, about 9:50 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>26 year old, Cheyenne Doble, of Little Falls, Minnesota, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Interstate 94 near exit 258 in an SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Another vehicle entered the highway from the onramp.<\/p>\n<p>As Doble moved toward the median to make room for the merging vehicle, the left wheel on her trailer dropped off the roadway into the median.<\/p>\n<p>Her \u00a0SUV and trailer crossed the median, into the westbound lane and into the north road ditch, striking a fence post and continued into the buffalo pasture.<\/p>\n<p>During the accident, the trailer became disconnected..<\/p>\n<p>When Doble attempted to drive out of the pasture heat from the vehicle exhaust started a grass fire.<\/p>\n<p>Doble was not hurt; she was wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n<p>Damage to the vehicle and trailer were not listed.<\/p>\n<p>Five Jamestown Fire Department units and 27 firefighters were on the scene for about 55 minutes extinguishing the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the fire units entered the pasture from the westbound lane of I-94 and over the ditch into the pasture.<\/p>\n<p>He says an area of pasture about 150X150 feet was burned.<\/p>\n<p>While the bison were not in danger, fire fighters were careful of the buffalo, which Reuther said were off in the distance but did not approach them<\/p>\n<p>The fire caused no injuries and there were no reports of damage from the fire.<\/p>\n<p>Investigating at the scene were, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Jamestown Police Department and the Jamestown Fire Department responded to the accident.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From <strong><em>Main Street Downtown Association <\/em>Newsletter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (KCSi \u2013 T.V. News Oct 8, 2012) &#8212; The North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities has awarded nine grants totaling over $319,000 to five North Dakota organizations that serve individuals with developmental disabilities and family members.<\/p>\n<p>Grant funds are intended to support employment, education, early intervention, and community supports for persons with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Family Voices of North Dakota in Edgeley received funding for its Parent to Parent Project, which provides emotional and informational support to families of children with disabilities and families with children who have special health care needs.<\/p>\n<p>Others receiving funding were: The Arc of Bismarck, March of Dimes in Fargo, and the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities, in Minot.<\/p>\n<p>Pathfinder Parent Center of Minot also received grant funding.<\/p>\n<p>The council advocates for policy changes that promote choice, independence, productivity, and inclusion for North Dakotans with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>It also supports projects and activities that maximize opportunities in these areas for consumers and families. (AP) &#8211; Weekend crashes in northwest North Dakota<br \/>\nleft two people dead and four others injured.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says one crash happened late Saturday on<br \/>\nstate Highway 40 near Tioga, and the other late Sunday on U.S.<br \/>\nHighway 85 near Alexander. Both crashes involved pickup trucks<br \/>\ncolliding.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-three-year-old Brent Gardner of Grantsville, Utah, died<br \/>\nin the first crash. Forty-three-year-old Jason Smith of Murrieta,<br \/>\nCalif., died in the other.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A man from Colorado was injured in the Saturday crash. Two Texas<br \/>\nresidents and a Nevada man were injured in the Sunday crash.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The crashes happened in western North Dakota&#8217;s oil patch, where<br \/>\npeople from around the country are working.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fort Totten man accused of beating two<br \/>\nyoung boys and setting fire to the bedroom where they slept has<br \/>\npleaded guilty to three lesser charges.<br \/>\n30-year-old Lyndon Greybear pleaded guilty to two counts of<br \/>\naggravated assault and one count of endangering by fire or<br \/>\nexplosion.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assistant Cass County State&#8217;s Attorney Leah Viste says<br \/>\nprosecutors agreed to drop two counts of attempted murder as part<br \/>\nof the plea agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The attorneys say that psychologists found that Greybear was<br \/>\nexperiencing an &#8220;intoxication-related psychosis&#8221; during the Nov.<br \/>\n13 incident involving his cousin&#8217;s two children.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Both boys were seriously injured and hospitalized. They&#8217;ve since<br \/>\nbeen released.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say after the incident, Greybear started a second<br \/>\nfire on a door at an apartment building a block away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota State University has hired a<br \/>\ndisability specialist.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school says Anita Hanson will work with students with<br \/>\ndisabilities to access accommodations and determine eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll also help students with assistive technology programs and<br \/>\neducate the campus community on disability-related topics and<br \/>\nissues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck has<br \/>\njoined a network of hospitals connected with the Mayo Clinic in<br \/>\nRochester, Minn.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the move will enable St. Alexius doctors to<br \/>\nconnect electronically with Mayo specialists, allowing more<br \/>\npatients to stay closer to home. It is not an acquisition or a<br \/>\nmerger, but a collaboration.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Altru Health System in Grand Forks also is a member of the<br \/>\nnetwork that now includes 10 hospitals around the country.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck&#8217;s other hospital, formerly known as Medcenter One,<br \/>\nmerged with Dakotas-based Sanford Health this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials have broken ground for a $70<br \/>\nmillion recreation center in Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 234,000-square-foot facility on the campus of Williston<br \/>\nState College will include a water park and an Olympic-size<br \/>\nswimming pool, four basketball courts and four tennis courts, a<br \/>\n200-meter running track, a golf simulator and other features.<br \/>\nOfficials say it will be the largest rec center in the state and<br \/>\none of the bigger ones in the country.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City sales tax money is paying for the center. Construction is<br \/>\nexpected to be complete by March 2014.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mayor Ward Koeser says the center will be a big step toward attracting more families to Williston as oil industry workers consider making North Dakota their permanent home.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The federal Labor Department has awarded a<br \/>\n$14.6 million job-training grant to a consortium of five colleges<br \/>\nin North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group is led by Bismarck State College and also includes<br \/>\nFort Berthold Community College, Williston State college, Turtle<br \/>\nMountain Community college and Sitting Bull College.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The schools will use the grant to expand training opportunities for<br \/>\npeople interested in jobs in western North Dakota, where the oil<br \/>\nindustry is booming.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A recent study of the cost of maintaining<br \/>\nNorth Dakota&#8217;s county and township roads is being expanded to<br \/>\ninclude bridges.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute at North Dakota<br \/>\nState University did the study at the Legislature&#8217;s request.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It estimated it will cost about $7 billion over 20 years to<br \/>\nmaintain county and township roads statewide. The estimate has been<br \/>\nincreased because of the heavy oil truck traffic on western North<br \/>\nDakota&#8217;s roads.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawmakers have asked for similar estimates on what it will cost<br \/>\nto maintain local bridges. (AP) &#8211; Don Larsen has two grandchildren, one<br \/>\nin college and the other a freshman in high school. He wants to<br \/>\nmake sure they&#8217;re taken care of.
