Update…<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says 42 year old Mary Jo Baker of Jamestown the subject of a search was located, Wednesday morning about 11:30, seen in a vehicle by police officers in Southeast Jamestown. He assumes the vehicle was the car previously described as being a maroon Chevrolet Equinox SUV<\/p>\n

He says Baker offered no resistance.<\/p>\n

She was taken into custody. Police charged her with methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine each\u00a0is a \u00a0Class “C” Felony.<\/p>\n

Formal charges are pending.<\/p>\n

Baker remained in custody at the LEC jail, with her court appearance pending.<\/p>\n

At that time a judge could set bond.<\/p>\n

Authorities began the search for her about 9-a.m., Tuesday, as a welfare check.<\/p>\n

\u00a0More details are expected.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The City of Jamestown has begun the 2015 city budget process.<\/p>\n

The City Council meetting Wednesday morning from 8-a.m. to 11-a.m.<\/p>\n

City Administrator Jeff Fuchs says, as of June 30 this year, the city has deficit spent $533,000 steming in large part from one time expenditures.<\/p>\n

The 2015 city mill levy is put at 2.87 mills, and will levy in 2015 the same figure as 2014, at 84.97 mills.<\/p>\n

The projected revenues for 2015 show a $30,000 deficit.<\/p>\n

Revenues for 2015 are projected to be higher based on increased state aid.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the water and sewer utilities will increase by five percent for domestic use, and three percent for Cavendish use.<\/p>\n

With the sewer utility, Fuchs says the operating revenue is $3.3million with expenditures of $1.6 million. Revenues are $1.7 million, with $327,000 in the replacement and depreciation fund.<\/p>\n

With the lift station replacement and force main replacement projects, the debt service is $2 million per year.<\/p>\n

The new operating loss of $619,000 requires a transfer of $664,00 from the city\u2019s share of Special Assessments over a two year period.<\/p>\n

Fuchs questioned with the debt service replacement, the ability to fund any upcoming projects.<\/p>\n

That budget will be further adjusted in the budgeting process.<\/p>\n

With the Sanitation budget a 5 percent rate increase in proposed, with a 2014 deficit at $25,000 and projected to be in the red at the end of 2015 with a five percent rate increase at $100,000.<\/p>\n

With the Solid Waste fund at the end of 2014 the deficit is projected at $16,000, with the construction fund project to be in the red at a half million dollars by the end of 2015.<\/p>\n

Mayor Andersen said with those funds, the city needs to look at more efficiencies for the utility rates to cover the expenses.<\/p>\n

The Mayor said the next set of budget meetings will be next week or the week after, allowing time for officials with JSDC, Tourism, and Engineering to put together presentations.<\/p>\n

The budget meetings are being shown live on CSi 67.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Friday is the deadline to contribute to the Jamestown Buffalo Mall\u2019s annual Back to School “Stuff the Bus” program.<\/p>\n

A bus is placed inside the main entrance of the mall and will remain<\/p>\n

there until August 15th.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Community Action Region VI will be receiving the school supplies and distributing them to children in need this fall.<\/p>\n

Donations for the bus can also be delivered to Gate City Bank. School supplies are encouraged to be donated for area children in need. The mall\u2019s goal is to fill the bus with backpacks, folders, notebooks and everything a child needs for going back to school.<\/p>\n

Families do not have to qualify to receive the donations.<\/p>\n

Interested parents in the nine-county region can call Community Action Region VI at 252-1821 to schedule an appointment to pick up the items their child will need for their grade level.<\/p>\n

Appointments begin next week, and usually only last about 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

The program, donates back-to-school supplies to students in need in Barnes, Dickey, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Stutsman and Wells counties.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Dairy Queen in Jamestown will be hosting their Miracle Treat Day August 14, 2014, to help raise funds for The Children\u2019s Miracle Network, as it celebrates 30 years and over $100 million raised for local kids.<\/p>\n

With Children\u2019s Miracle Network is a National Platform for the Miss America Organization, and as such, Miss James River Valley 2015 Paige Meyer will be present to answer questions and to greet the community.<\/p>\n

Miracle Treat Day is August 14, 2014, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, at the Jamestown DQ.<\/p>\n

Dairy Queen\u2019s nationwide will be donating $1 to CMN for every blizzard treat purchased.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Authorities are investigating vandalism to the Cass County Courthouse in Fargo.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sheriff’s office says rocks were thrown through windows on the main entrance doors just after midnight Tuesday. The rocks were wrapped in paper with the words “Nazism” and “fascism” written on them, though misspelled.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Fargo man accused of violating probation in an animal mistreatment case has posted $700 bond.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sixty-four-year-old William Kiefer appeared in court in Burleigh County on Tuesday, a day after appearing in Morton County. He’s accused of violating probation in both counties\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0 his $700 bond covers both counties.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kiefer could face up to a year in jail if he’s found to have violated terms of probation by buying a horse and also failing to follow through with court-ordered mental health services.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kiefer pleaded guilty last year to misdemeanor animal cruelty and four counts of overworking, mistreating or abandoning animals. He was sentenced to six months in custody and two years of probation in the case that involved the deaths of more than 100 horses.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The Williston city commission has filled an open seat created when Howard Klug was elected mayor.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Piesik worked for 15 years at Williston State College for a work force training program known as TrainND. The program has served thousands of workers in the oil patch.

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Williston State College has hired a new head coach for its hockey program, which has won back-to-back national junior championships.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 John Bowkus has been working as hockey director and head coach at the Mid-Michigan Youth Hockey Association. He also owns Superior Skills Stickhandling Hockey Schools.

He succeeds Seamus (SHAY’-muhs) Gregory, who resigned from Williston State in early June to take the head coaching position at Northland, an NCAA Division III school in Wisconsin. \u00a0\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – New North Dakota State University women’s basketball head coach Maren Walseth has filled out her staff with the addition of a director of operations for the program.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Arianne Johnson will fill the role. She most recently served as head varsity girls’ basketball coach at Hope Academy in Minneapolis. Before that she coached at high schools in Minnesota. She also spent the past two summers as head coach of an AAU team in Minnesota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Johnson is a Minneapolis native. She played two seasons at Concordia St. Paul, from 2009-11.

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) – The police department in a St. Louis suburb where a man was shot and killed by a police officer is asking protesters to gather only during daylight. Ferguson has been the site of nightly protests and unrest since 18-year-old Michael Brown was killed during a confrontation with an officer on Saturday. In a news release Wednesday, the department asked that all people who assemble to pray or protest do so in “an organized and respectful” manner and disperse well before evening to ensure the safety of participants and the community.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) – A decision is expected within days on how the U.S. will help the thousands of Iraqi refugees who are trapped on a mountain. The White House says among the options President Barack Obama is considering are airflifts and creating safe passages for the refugees. A rescue mission led by the U.S. military could involve putting U.S. troops on the ground. But the White House says the mission would be strictly a humanitarian one.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A teen carjacking suspect says he hopes for forgiveness from the family of the victims, for the July crash that killed a Philadelphia woman and her three children. Nineteen-year-old Johnathan Rosa, appearing in court Wednesday, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and blurted out the statement as he left court. His lawyer says Rosa learned only minutes earlier that the 34-year-old mother had died of her injuries last week. Her young children died the day of the crash. Rosa and a co-defendant allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into the family on a busy street corner.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – San Francisco Bay Area residents are remembering Robin Williams as a man who did his kindest acts offstage in the community he called home. Dr. Carrie Chen says the comedian used to visit the children’s ward at the University of California-San Francisco hospital every Christmas. She says Williams would come quietly, greet newborns, cheer up sick kids and thank medical staffers for working on a holiday. The director of the San Francisco Zoo says Williams came for years to visit a parrot he donated. He says Williams raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the zoo — where a howler monkey was named after the comedian.
