Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 9, 2012) — Tim Burchill, CEO at Ave Maria Village, has announced that Senator Dave Nething of Jamestown, will become the AMV Chapel Campaign Honorary Chairman and corporate and foundation gifts director.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s (Oct 9, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Burchill said the Chapel campaign, is current at 45% of the $1,325,000 goal.<\/p>\n

He said, last Friday an anonymous donor gave $50,000 toward the campaign.<\/p>\n

Also on the show, Nething said the success of the Chapel Campaign depends on the Jamestown area\u2019s continued willingness to support this critical need.<\/p>\n

He said the project is in three areas.<\/p>\n

The chapel and gathering area.<\/p>\n

A Family Suite.<\/p>\n

And, an indoor transportation center, to all residents to access transportation without going outside into the elements.<\/p>\n

Burchill said, “Dave brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role. This is our way of acknowledging his understanding of the community, his advice and his wisdom.”<\/p>\n

Nething pointed out, that donations may be given on a pledge basis, over a period of time.<\/p>\n

Burchill added, once the fundraising goal has been reached, hopefully by later this year, ground will be broken, with completion possible by late 2013.<\/p>\n

Bill Kennedy of Ave Maria Village, is coordinating the campaign.<\/p>\n

As Corporate and Foundation Gifts Director, Nething said he will be in contact with community members and businesses, to zero in on gifts to support Ave Maria Village.<\/p>\n

Dave Nething is the longest consecutive serving state senator in North Dakota and currently the longest serving Republican state senator in the U.S.<\/p>\n

He is retiring from that position effective December 1, 2012, after 46 years of service in the ND Senate.<\/p>\n

During his years in the Senate Nething has served on many legislative committees and was Senate Leader from 1974-1986 and President Pro-Tem, 1997-98 as well as Past President of the National Conference of State Legislatures in 1985-86.<\/p>\n

He is the Past President Jamestown Rotary; Past Exalted Ruler, Jamestown Elks; Past State Trustee & Chair of Board of Trustees, ND Elks Association; Past Chair, Elks Grand Lodge Judiciary Commission, and Past Chief Justice of National Elks Grand Forum.<\/p>\n

He served in the Korean Conflict and is a Presbyterian Church Elder.<\/p>\n

Dave attended Pingree High School and graduated from Jamestown College and the UND School of law.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2013 NDUS Arts & Humanities Summit at VCSU The North Dakota University System\u2019s Arts & Humanities Summit will be held October 11-12<\/strong><\/span> at Valley City State University.<\/p>\n

The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the Candidate Forum featuring the candidates for:<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The newly crowed Miss Rodeo, North Dakota, 2013, is 23 year old, Kystal Carlascio, the reigning Miss Rodeo North Dakota Winter Show.<\/p>\n

Krystal is the daughter of Jim Carlascio of Jamestown, and Michelle Kolb, of Aberdeen, South Dakota.<\/p>\n

Krystal is employed as a registered nurse at Sanford Health, in Fargo.<\/p>\n

Krystal was crowned Miss Rodeo, North Dakota, at the state pageant, in Minot last weekend.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A man accused of being drunk while driving a Bismarck school bus has quit his driving job.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 School Superintendent Tamara Uselman\u00a0says \u00a0Thomas Griak resigned last Thursday in the face of being fired. He initially had been placed on leave without pay.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 41-year-old Lincoln man has been charged with driving a commercial vehicle under the influence, a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to appear in city court on Oct. 18. A telephone listing for him could not immediately be found.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Griak was arrested on Oct. 3 after a worried parent called authorities and they administered a breath test.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – One of two Fargo men accused of burglarizing
\nhome construction sites has been sentenced to five years in prison
\nafter pleading guilty to more than 20 counts of conspiracy.<\/p>\n

35-year-old Jason Leines also must serve five years of supervised
\nprobation and pay restitution to be determined later.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors allege that Leines and Jeremy Tibiatowski stole
\nequipment worth more than $10,000, mostly from home construction
\nsites in Fargo, West Fargo, Argusville and Kindred. Tibiatowski has
\npleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A woman accused of stealing money while
\nserving as treasurer of a Fargo roller derby team has been
\nsentenced to 25 days in jail and ordered to repay $10,000.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sentence handed down by Judge John Irby on Monday was
\nharsher than what attorneys had requested. The joint sentencing
\nrecommendation had been for restitution and credit for 10 days that
\nLouise Jauss had served on electronic home monitoring.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Irby said he didn’t feel that sentence would be sufficient. His
\norder also means the felony theft conviction will stay on Jauss’
\nrecord. Her attorney is considering whether to try to withdraw her
\nguilty plea.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The amount of money Jauss actually stole isn’t known. The group
\ninitially accused her of taking about $21,000. A private auditor
\nuncovered about $13,000 in unauthorized transactions.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Wilton man is accused of downloading
\nchild pornography on a work computer while employed as the deputy
\nchairman of the criminal justice program at United Tribes Technical
\nCollege in Bismarck.
\nA\u00a0warrant has been issued for the arrest of 58-year-old Richard Cutting on a felony charge that carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cutting’s home telephone number is no longer in service. Court
\ndocuments do not list an attorney for him.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cutting was fired at UTTC in early September. Two employees
\nlater reported finding inappropriate photographs on a computer
\nCutting had used.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Rain and snow that moved into North Dakota last week slowed fieldwork but has also replenished topsoil moisture in many areas.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop, livestock and weather report that harvest of the state’s late season crops was already seeing good progress before the moisture moved in.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The corn harvest advanced 27 percentage points to 63 percent complete, ahead of both last year’s pace and the five-year average. The sugar beet harvest at 37 percent is outpacing last year’s but slightly behind the average.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pasture and range conditions are rated 37 percent very poor, 29 percent poor, 27 percent fair and 7 percent good.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – John Deere Electronic Solutions in Fargo has
\ncompleted work on a $22 million expansion.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company was established in 1987 as Phoenix International. It
\nmakes electronics for equipment used in farming, forestry, trucking
\nand construction.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 90,000-square-foot expansion gives the company more than
\n300,000 square feet in Fargo, where it employs more than 900
\npeople. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Some North Dakota lawmakers say the Three
\nAffiliated Tribes deserves a greater share of the taxes collected
\nfrom reservation oil production.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But they’re not willing to endorse a tribal proposal to increase
\ntheir tax share. The tribe and state now split the money evenly.
\nThe tribe wants to boost its share to 80 percent of the oil taxes
\nfrom tribal land.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature’s Tribal and State Relations Committee reviewed
\nthe idea. Lansford Sen. David O’Connell is the committee’s
\nchairman. He says the panel didn’t approve the 80 percent split,
\nbut he’s expecting the Legislature will see the proposal next year.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Rep. Jim Kasper says the tribe should get a bigger share
\nof the reservation’s oil tax money, but he says the entire
\nLegislature needs to debate the question.

\nYoungstown State dropped to No. 9.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The rest of the Top Five are Montana State, Old Dominion,
\nWofford and James Madison.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NDSU hosts Indiana State on Saturday. Indiana State is 4-2 and
\ngot votes in the poll but did not crack the Top 25.<\/p>\n

South Dakota State University also got votes in the poll, after being idle over

The University of North Dakota did not get any votes
\nthis week after losing to Eastern Washington 55-17 on Saturday.

\nBaumgartner has canceled his planned death-defying 23-mile free
\nfall into the New Mexico desert because of high winds.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 43-year-old former military parachutist from Austria had
\nhoped to become the first skydiver to break the sound barrier and
\nshatter three other world records.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But the weather on Tuesday forced his team to cancel his planned
\nascent in a 55-story, ultra-thin helium balloon that was to take
\nhim to the stratosphere.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because the balloon is so delicate, it could only take flight if
\nwinds were 2 mph or below.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>NEW YORK (AP) – The number of people sickened by a deadly
\nmeningitis outbreak has now reached 119 cases, including 11 deaths.
\nThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says New Jersey is
\nthe 10th state to report at least one illness.<\/p>\n

Officials have tied the fungal meningitis outbreak to steroid shots for back pain produced by a Massachusetts pharmacy.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) – Saying Jerry Sandusky had betrayed
\nchildren and abused their trust, a Pennsylvania judge Tuesday
\nsentenced the 68-year-old former football coach to at least 30
\nyears in prison for sexually abusing 10 boys.<\/p>\n

At his sentencing hearing today, a defiant Sandusky gave a rambling statement in which he denied the allegations, saying among other things that he had “forgiven” and “been forgiven.”<\/p>\n

Three victims also spoke, one telling Sandusky that he left him with “deep painful wounds.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – Federal investigators have charged 530 people
\nwith allegedly defrauding homeowners who had fallen behind on
\nmortgage payments and feared foreclosure.<\/p>\n

The Justice Department says more than 73,000 homeowners lost more than $1 billion in the fraud schemes.<\/p>\n

According to court records, the struggling homeowners would pay substantial fees with promises that so-called investors would purchase the victims’ mortgages.<\/p>\n

Others were lured by phony promises that more favorable mortgage terms would be negotiated on their behalf.
