Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer\u2019s Office reports that all residents in the area of the 2nd<\/sup> Ave NE to 2nd<\/sup> Ave NW from 5th<\/sup> St North to 8th<\/sup> St North will experience intermittent water outages starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. today, \u00a0Monday, September 8, 2014 AND possibly Tuesday, September 9, 2014<\/span>, until utility repair work is completed.<\/p>\n

It is anticipated that the utility repairs will be completed within the two working days.<\/p>\n

Spiritwood (CSi) Cenex Harvest States (CHS, Inc.) announced Friday that it is moving forward with the construction of a $3 billion nitrogen fertilizer plant at Spiritwood<\/p>\n

The plant has been in planning and development for two years, but was put on hold in April this year, because of escalating costs.<\/p>\n

The announcement came from the CHS Board of Directors giving the plant its final approval on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The plant is the largest investment in CHS history with its project costs currently estimated at about $3 billion. The plant will also be the largest construction project in North Dakota history.<\/p>\n

CHS, Inc., president and chief executive officer, Carl Casale (cuh-SAL’-ee) says, “CHS is proceeding today as the plant\u2019s sole investor, However, because our owners\u2019 interests are at the heart of what we do, we will always pursue ownership of strategic assets and partnerships that will help us continually add value to their businesses.”<\/p>\n

Plant construction may begin this fall, depending on the weather, and operating by 2018. Groundbreaking ceremonies have not been scheduled.<\/p>\n

It would use natural gas from North Dakota’s oil patch to make anhydrous ammonia fertilizer.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) \u00a0 A Public Input Meeting is is for this Monday evening, at 5-p.m., at the Valley City Eagles, concerning the proposed\u00a0$16 million, 60,00 square foot \u00a0Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center \u00a0Wellness Center in Valley City.<\/p>\n

The meeting is geared to\u00a0steer direction and the project\u2019s feasibility, with discussions led by the consulting firm.<\/p>\n

The proposed\u00a0facility would contain\u00a0three full sized basketball courts,\u00a0two aquatic center pools, locker rooms along with a walking track, weights and cardio equipment overlooking the gym.<\/p>\n

\u00a0An upcoming October meeting will address.annual maintenance cost figures.<\/p>\n

The Valley City Parks and Recreation Department and Valley City State University are advocating the concept of a community focused Wellness Center that would serve people of all ages.<\/p>\n

If passed at the\u00a0at a\u00a0November 4, 2014 Advisory vote the measurewould extend over\u00a0 30-years the \u00bd percent city sales tax\u00a0that\u2019s prestly being used\u00a0to finance the construction of the Hi Liner Activity Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second measure will ask\u00a0voter if they \u00a0approve extending the existing 1\/2 percent city sales tax and use, 83 percent of the money collected to fund construction for permanent flood protection.<\/p>\n

Auxiliary members, Carolyn Exner, and Marlys Perleberg on Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, pointed out that tea, sandwiches and sweets will be served, along with a silent auction and door prizes.<\/p>\n

Quilts will also be available provided by local quilters<\/p>\n

Tickets are $10.00 per person and can be purchased from any JRMC Auxiliary member, at the JRMC Gift Shoppe or the day of the event.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from this year\u2019s event will go to the JRMC Foundation for the greatest need in the hospital.<\/p>\n

The money raised by the Auxiliary provides materials back to the hospital; these have included baby burp cloths, surgery pillows and grab bars.<\/p>\n

The auxiliary also holds other fundraisers, including a spring plant sale, Holiday Magic the Tree of Love, and special calendars.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says consumer fraud investigators found that Vladimir Adolphe and company officials engaged in deceptive practices, including sending invoices for advertising services they did not order. The attorney general says the company that did business as GeneralYellowpages.com and Electronic Media Marketing Group Inc. then threatened legal action if a the bill was not paid.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say a search of Connelly’s resident in Minot in October 2012 yielded 163 grams of methamphetamine in a storage container. Police also found a loaded rifle next to the container.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – North Dakota officials are seeking more federal help to fight rising crime in the Bakken oil belt. Senator John Hoeven led a meeting with law enforcement officials in Williston this week to bring attention to the issue. He says that local officials want the FBI and Drug Enforcement Agency to open permanent offices in western North Dakota to fight drug and prostitution rings in the region.<\/p>\n

(AP) – The chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation says the tribe is going to have to make some significant budget cuts this year if it wants to reduce a $6 million budget deficit. Chairman Dave Archambault says his proposed budget for 2015 includes cuts in casino-funded positions and political appointees. Archambault also says the budget axes out the tribe’s tourism department completely.

Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 The No. 3 team in the NAIA football poll lived up to its billing Saturday night. Morningside College handed Valley City State its first loss of the season, knocking off the Vikings 56-14 at Shelly Ellig Field in Valley City.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Mustangs took control early in their season opener, shocking the Vikings with 43 first-half points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

VCSU regrouped in the second half, outscoring Morningside 14-13 over the final 30 minutes of play.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kurtis Walls found Antoine Griffin from 20 yards out for the Vikings first score early in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Josh Hansana played the fourth quarter for VCSU and rushed for a 10-yard touchdown to make the final score 56-14.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Morningside out-gained the Vikings 596-267 in total yards. The Mustangs had 346 yards on the ground, including 181 yards and three touchdowns from Brandon Wegher in the first half.<\/p>\n

The Vikings were led offensively by receiver Antoine Griffin, who caught seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Jake Miller added six catches for 60 yards. Kurtis Walls completed 14 of 23 passes for 117 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Josh Hansana completed 6 of 10 passes for 106 yards and rushed for a touchdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n
