News) &#8212; The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that Kimberly Saxberg has stepped down as the Chamber\u2019s Executive.<\/p>\n<p>Chamber President, Tim Burchill says, Ms. Saxberg and the Chamber parted ways, on Tuesday October 9, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He did not indicate a specific reason, only to say that she &#8220;left voluntarily.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Burchill says a search committee is being formed to find a new Chamber of Commerce Executive.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the regular day to day operations of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; A Spiritwood man and his father remain<br \/>\nhospitalized after they were burned in a furnace explosion and fire<br \/>\nearlier this week.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NewsDakota reports that Paul Komrosky and his father, Eugene,<br \/>\nremain hospitalized in critical condition following the Tuesday<br \/>\nexplosion and subsequent fire. The incident happened at a farm<br \/>\nhouse about 18 miles west of Valley City.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two men were found outside the house with severe burns to<br \/>\ntheir faces, hands and legs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FAIRMOUNT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky<br \/>\n(luh-SHEHV&#8217;-skee) says a high school student in Fairmount who shot<br \/>\nhimself in a classroom in an apparent suicide attempt is expected<br \/>\nto recover.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities aren&#8217;t identifying the freshman boy who shot himself<br \/>\nin front of classmates Thursday. The Breckenridge, Minn., hospital<br \/>\nhe was taken to is not releasing his condition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Classes were called off after the Thursday morning incident. The<br \/>\nK-12 school with about 110 students was bringing in extra<br \/>\ncounselors and the sheriff&#8217;s office was putting a deputy on patrol<br \/>\nthere as school resumed Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man charged in what authorities say<br \/>\nis a synthetic drug ring that led to the overdose deaths of two<br \/>\nteenagers has pleaded guilty in federal court in Fargo.<br \/>\n22-year-old former University of North Dakota student Peter Hoistad<br \/>\nis the sixth person to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors in<br \/>\nthe case.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investigators say the ring manufactured synthetic drugs that led<br \/>\nto the two deaths and the hospitalization of several other people<br \/>\nin Grand Forks in June.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoistad pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge and to<br \/>\ndistributing illegal drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors dropped a charge that the<br \/>\ndrugs resulted in injury and death, which could have landed Hoistad<br \/>\nin prison for life. He faces up to 30 years in prison when he is<br \/>\nsentenced Jan. 3.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A longtime employee of a North Dakota<br \/>\ncredit union says she will plead guilty to stealing more than<br \/>\n$130,000 from members.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Georgia Schwartz, of Glen Ullin, is charged in federal court<br \/>\nwith embezzlement and misapplication from a credit union, and false<br \/>\nentries.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court document show that the money was taken over a 24-year<br \/>\nperiod from the Glen Ullin Credit Union, now known as the Western<br \/>\nCooperative Credit Union.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Schwartz paid back some of the money she took<br \/>\nfrom the accounts.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. A<br \/>\nplea agreement calls for Schwartz to pay back the money and<br \/>\nrecommends a sentence below the federal guideline range.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sentencing is set for Dec. 19.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota assistant attorney general<br \/>\nhas a frightening example of the effects of synthetic drug use.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Julie Lawyer played a recording of a 911 emergency call to a<br \/>\nlegislative committee that&#8217;s looking at the state&#8217;s laws against<br \/>\nsynthetic drugs.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 17-year-old Larimore girl had been to a Grafton home and had<br \/>\ntaken two &#8220;hits&#8221; from a pipe containing synthetic marijuana.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She had a bad reaction, and when she was out driving, she called<br \/>\n911. When the operator asked what was wrong, the girl could only<br \/>\nscream incoherently.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawyer says the call makes the hair on the back of her neck<br \/>\nstand on end.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota wildlife officials are cautioning motorists to beware of deer, as this is the time of year<br \/>\nwhen young animals are dispersing from their home ranges.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Game and Fish Department says October through early<br \/>\nDecember is the peak period for deer-vehicle accidents. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s corn and soybean crops are expected to be record size.<\/p>\n<p>Flooding in 2011 hurt many North Dakota crops, leading to sizable increases this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The state&#8217;s dryedible bean crop also is expected to be a record, and sunflower and canola production both are forecast to be up more than 60 percent from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The relocation of an NBA Development<\/p>\n<p>League team from the North Dakota capital of Bismarck to the<\/p>\n<p>California city of Santa Cruz is official.<\/p>\n<p>D-League officials on Wednesday announced the move that has been<\/p>\n<p>in the works for months. The Dakota Wizards will be renamed the<\/p>\n<p>Santa Cruz Warriors and will play in an arena under construction.<\/p>\n<p>The Wizards played 17 seasons in Bismarck, winning four<\/p>\n<p>championships in three different leagues.
