A sobriety checkpoint will be held from\u30008-10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>This year,\u3000approximately 46 percent of fatal crashes have been alcohol-related.\u3000 The Highway Patrol is reminding the public to plan ahead.\u3000Call a taxi or designate a driver if you plan to drink.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Secretary of State Al Jaeger is encouraging voters in North Dakota to use a state website to find information about the upcoming general election.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jaeger says the website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vote.nd.gov\/\">www.vote.nd.gov<\/a> has information about polling locations and hours, the full text of each of the eight measures on the ballot and details about candidates for statewide, legislative and judicial positions.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jaeger says sample ballots, voter identification requirements and absentee voting information are also available at the website.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The election is Nov. 4.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0SARTELL, Minn. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota State University student found slain in Moorhead has been laid to rest as authorities search for his killer.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 1,250 mourners attended a funeral Mass for 18-year-old Thomas Bearson on Monday morning at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in his hometown of Sartell.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The St. Cloud Times reports family and friends remembered Bearson&#8217;s humor, caring personality and love for athletics.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bearson&#8217;s body was found Tuesday outside a recreational vehicle store in Moorhead. The Ramsey County medical examiner&#8217;s office says Bearson died as the &#8220;result of homicidal violence.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Bearson had last been seen at a party early on Sept. 20 in Fargo, North Dakota, about six blocks from his dorm. NDSU officials are encouraging students to walk with others on and off campus at night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Three women have been arrested in Grand Forks in connection with recent pharmacy burglaries in Hillsboro and Larimore.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Grand Forks County sheriff&#8217;s department says the stolen narcotics have a street value of nearly of $50,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The women were arrested when law enforcement executed a search warrant at a home. Authorities say they seized various items including drug paraphernalia and narcotics believed to have come from the burglaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The women are 35-year-old Jodi Olson, 18-year-old Alexis Littlewind and 29-year-old Amanda Peterson. They have been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Olson and Littlewind are also facing multiple counts of possession of a control substance with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court records don&#8217;t list attorneys for the Grand Forks women.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Wyoming man accused in a fatal hit-and-run in the North Dakota oil patch hub of Williston has been sentenced to time served and two years of probation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 David Krause, of Alpine, Wyoming, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors under which a felony manslaughter charge was reduced to misdemeanor reckless endangerment. He pleaded guilty Friday and his trial scheduled for this week was canceled.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Krause was charged in the December 2013 death of 31-year-old Anthony Scoggins outside a bar. Judge Joshua Rustad said the incident was &#8220;nothing more than a tragic accident.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Detective David Peterson\u00a0 says &#8220;law enforcement does not agree.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Krause served 12 days in jail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he has plans for major improvements to North Dakota&#8217;s park system and statewide conservation enhancements.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple is slated to unveil his plan on Monday at the state Capitol in Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The GOP governor&#8217;s plan comes as conservation advocates are pushing a measure for a bigger slice of North Dakota oil tax revenues for a fund to benefit water, wildlife and parks projects.\u00a0 The measure will appear on the November ballot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Backers want 5 percent of the state&#8217;s oil extraction taxes for the fund. That would raise about $260 million during the 2015-17 budget period. The current fund is capped at $30 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Opponents say they worry that a bigger fund would take away from other critical needs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A community center that has been in the works for nearly a decade in the western North Dakota oil patch city of Killdeer will be reality in a matter of weeks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWork is wrapping up on the $3.3 million High Plains Cultural Center along N.D. Highway 22.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The facility will have meeting rooms, a gymnasium\/banquet area and a walking track. It will be available for events ranging from oil company training meetings to wedding receptions.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The committee raising money to pay off the project loan expects to come up about half a million dollars short. Officials plan to hold a fundraising campaign and also ask the Dunn County Commission to chip in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Scandinavian culture and heritage will be on display in Minot this week as the city hosts the 37th annual Norsk Hostfest.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The event is billed as the largest Scandinavian festival in North America. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has a new chief of wildlife.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Director Terry Steinwand has appointed 15-year department employee Jeb Williams as the new head of wildlife. Williams will succeed Randy Kreil, who announced his retirement in August.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Williams has been the assistant wildlife chief since 2011. He has also held the positions of biologist and wildlife resource management supervisor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Williams is a native of Beach. It&#8217;s a situation in which Damascus is aligned with Western and Arab opponents in fighting the same enemy. Dr. Ana Maria Gonzalez-Angulo was convicted Friday of aggravated assault.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW YORK (AP) &#8211; A grand jury has begun deciding whether there should be criminal charges in the case of an unarmed man who died after being put in a chokehold by New York City police. Police union officials said the grand jury began hearing evidence today in the death of Eric Garner. A medical examiner found that a banned chokehold used by a police officer contributed to Garner&#8217;s July death on Staten Island. The death was ruled a homicide.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LOS ANGELES (AP) &#8211; Americans are paying more for using an ATM that isn&#8217;t affiliated with their own bank. According to a survey released by Bankrate.com, those fees rose by 5 percent over the past year.
