Jamestown (CSi) Construction of the new T-hangar at Jamestown Regional Airport is on hold.<\/p>\n

The contractor says the firm is being delayed on a previous project.<\/p>\n

Construction is slated to begin by the middle of this month.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile new wetlands have been created on land northeast of the airport.<\/p>\n

The curretn wetlands are being eliminated because it attracts waterfowl and other birds, which interfere with takeoff and landings at the airport.<\/p>\n

The project to eliminate the wetlands will start this fall and be completed next spring.<\/p>\n

Local officials met with North Dakota Aeronautics Commission Director, and representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration, talking about the airport\u2019s Capital Improvement Plan.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority officials are looking to a hotel\/conference center, new industrial and commercial business and a possible convenience store as businesses that l Airport Authority members would like to see locate on Jamestown Regional Airport property in the future.<\/p>\n

Bismarck (CSi) On Wednesday at the State Capitol, Governor Jack Dalrymple signed the proclamation for October 3, <\/sup>2014, Manufacturing Day.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The University of Jamestown is once again hosting its annual fall leadership conference on Thursday, October 9, 2014 <\/sup>as part of the University\u2019s Character in Leadership program. The conference this year will consist of a keynote speaker and breakout sessions.<\/p>\n

The Keynote address will feature Rod Olson, “The Coach\u2019s Coach”, delivering a message of “Next Level Coaching Tools for the 21st<\/sup> Century Leader”. FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man says he will plead guilty to robbing a Carrington bank in October 2013.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Antoine Williams, of Willow City, came away with more than $6,200 after handing a threatening note to a teller at Gate City Bank. He was arrested later the same day after a Carrington citizen phoned police with a description of his vehicle.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 28-year-old Williams pleaded not guilty in November. A judge ruled him competent to stand trial after a hearing in July.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A change of plea hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Fargo.<\/p>\n

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) –\u00a0\u00a0 The \u00a0Valley City fire department is actively seeking recruits, for volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Fire Chief Gary Retterath\u00a0says \u00a0people sometimes don’t want to commit because of their families, children and jobs. He says volunteers have to work harder when there is less personnel. He adds that it also takes more time to get the job done.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0fire department \u00a0averages two calls per week and among the incidents they respond to are structural and grass fires, river rescues and severe floods.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Retterath says he hopes to bring the number of volunteers to at least 40.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) The Valley City State University presidential search committee met in Valley City Tuesday. The committee interviewed nine candidates via distance-learning technology. Each interview lasted approximately 45 minutes with a 10-minute break in between.<\/p>\n

Board Chair Kirsten Diederich who also chairs the presidential search committee, says, “Today\u2019s interviews were impressive, and we\u2019re confident we will find the right candidate for the position. Thank you to Interim President Margaret Dahlberg for stepping up to lead VCSU during the search process.”<\/p>\n

The committee narrowed the pool to five semi-finalists who will be invited to the VCSU campus for interviews Oct. 13-15.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man with nine previous DUI convictions has been arrested while driving a lawn mower and charged with felony DUI. Authorities say Earl Lee Jahner, of West Fargo, had a blood alcohol level of more than .27. The legal limit is .08. Jahner’s is accused of having a six-pack of beer on the lawn mower while he was operating it and of damaging a building.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s unprecedented oil bonanza has boosted the state’s median household income to record levels.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But state demographer Kevin Iverson says the male-dominated energy industry also is widening the wage gap between men and women.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Census data show the median earnings of North Dakota men who worked full-time, year-round climbed to $49,231 in 2013. That’s about $3,000 more than in 2012.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The median earnings for North Dakota women increased only about $100 during that time to $34,549.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Data show North Dakota’s median household income rose to $55,759 last year, up from $54,647 in 2012.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says more federal money is available to train firefighters and others who must respond to hazardous material emergencies, including oil train derailments.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Democrat says the Federal Emergency Management Agency has allocated $5 million to support a training center in Pueblo, Colorado. She says the training is aimed at helping emergency workers deal with incidents like the fiery oil train crash outside Casselton in December that left an ominous cloud over the town and led some residents to evacuate.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp says some emergency workers from North Dakota already have taken part in training at the facility. She says others may apply to FEMA to receive the training.

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Wheat production in North Dakota this year is up 29 percent from 2013, to 352 million bushels.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department’s small grain production report estimates spring wheat production in the state up 25 percent, durum wheat up 4 percent and winter wheat up 216 percent.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Winter wheat is not a major crop in North Dakota, and subject to wide swings in production. Spring wheat is the state’s staple crop. Production this year is estimated at 294 million bushels.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota barley production this year is pegged at 37 million bushels, down 19 percent. Oat production is at 8.4 million bushels, up just slightly over the year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A two-day health conference in Bismarck is focusing on the prevention of injuries.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Health Department’s Division of Injury Prevention and Control is sponsoring the conference Wednesday and Thursday at the Radisson. The department says injuries are on the increase, due in part to oil activity in western North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The conference is open to anyone but designed for people who work in law enforcement, mental health, youth services, emergency medical services, traffic safety and public health, and for advocates of victims of domestic violence and sexual violence.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Shopping has gotten a bit more expensive in Burleigh and Morton counties.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With October starting, a half-cent sales tax goes into effect to pay for a $70 million combined county jail. The\u00a0 additional tax will be applied to items that currently are taxed in the two counties.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Voters in both counties approved the additional sales tax in June. It will pay for a 476-inmate jail in southeast Bismarck. The facility is expected to start holding prisoners in early 2017.<\/p>\n

BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) – Sports programs for disabled veterans in North Dakota are getting $70,000 in federal funds.

Members of the Liberian community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area say they’re not so sure. Levette Crespo was released last night after being questioned for several hours. Sheriff’s officials say she got into an argument with her husband and their 19-year-old son tried to intervene. Levette Crespo allegedly got a gun and shot her husband several times when he got into a struggle with his son.
