HIGHS IN THE MID 40S.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The North Dakota Department of Emergency Services says any burning will<\/p>\n<p>be extremely dangerous, and farmers should delay field work until<\/p>\n<p>conditions improve. The fire danger is predicted to be high in<\/p>\n<p>western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 16, 2012) \u2014 The Barnes County Commission voted 3-2 to allow 9-11 dispatcher now employed by Valley City to become Barnes County employees, effective January 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>County Commission President Cindy Schwehr, Rodger Berntson and Eldred Knutson vote in favor of the 9-1-1 employees transfer back to the county. Commissioner\u2019s Jon Froehlich and Phil Leitner voted against the motion.<\/p>\n<p>The Valley City Commission has scheduled a Special Meeting for Wednesday morning (Oct 17, 2012) at 8-a.m., to discuss the county\u2019s 9-1-1 decision. to take over the 911 department.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will be shown live on CSi\u00a0 68, followed by replays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi- T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Public School Board was informed about administrators progress in year three, of the five-year AdvancED.,school improvement program.<\/p>\n<p>District School Improvement Committee member, Jamestown Middle School principal Gail Wold said &#8220;It\u2019s taking a look at who we are a district, what are we doing well and what are we not doing well, adding, It\u2019s a way of looking at ourselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The AdvancED guidelines are required to be met for the district to maintain accreditation with the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement to receive funding.<\/p>\n<p>There are five standards and 35 indicators throughout those standards that are used to measure the quality of the district.<\/p>\n<p>Those include, purpose and direction, governance and leadership, and teaching and assessing for learning, along with resources and support systems, and using results for continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<p>The improvement committee is to meet once a month, and in March of 2013, will have an external accreditation team conducting interviews and observe classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The committee will then have two months to take actions, based on recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>The School Board was updated by Joe Hegland, Director of Curriculum and Professional development, on the transition process to the new Common Core education standards.<\/p>\n<p>Common Core, will have a more difficult curriculum for math and language arts.<\/p>\n<p>The school board also organized a committee to look at the support staff salary schedule, chaired by Diane Hanson.<\/p>\n<p>The committee will address a 6 percent raise that was given out as 3 percent on base pay and 3 percent in a step increase, while support staff received a flat 6 percent raise.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown School Board, Support Staff Salary Schedule Committee will meet on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 5:15 pm in the Central Office Conference Room located in the Administration Building, 207 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Avenue Southeast, Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was recorded by CSi and is now showing on KCSi-T.V. 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; A 16-year-old Dickinson boy faces charges<br \/>\nin juvenile court after authorities say he brought a gun on school<br \/>\nproperty.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Superintendent Douglas Sullivan tells The Dickinson Press that<br \/>\nthe student brandished the gun in the high school parking lot<br \/>\nduring the school&#8217;s homecoming dance last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the gun was not loaded, and no one was hurt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident happened one day after a high school student in the<br \/>\nsoutheastern North Dakota community of Fairmount shot himself in<br \/>\nfront of classmates in an apparent suicide attempt.<\/p>\n<p>The boy survived, and is recovering in a Fargo Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials have launched a<br \/>\nmultimillion-dollar effort to move the community of Minnewaukan out<br \/>\nof reach of the chronically flooding Devils Lake.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state&#8217;s congressional delegation and governor say the<br \/>\nfederal government is providing $6 million to buy out homes, move<br \/>\nothers, and build water and sewer lines and access roads to the<br \/>\nsite dubbed New Minnewaukan.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ground was broken at the site on Monday. The Grand Forks Herald<br \/>\nreports it&#8217;s about a mile away and 30 feet higher than the original<br \/>\ntownsite.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lake has been expanding for two decades because of wet<br \/>\nweather, encroaching on the community of about 200 people.<\/p>\n<p>Many buildings already have been moved, along with a highway on the<br \/>\ntown&#8217;s east edge.<\/p>\n<p>A new $11 million school also is under construction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A company that supplies and services valves<br \/>\nand other flow-control components for the energy industry is<br \/>\nbuilding a facility in Mandan.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Novaspect Holdings Inc. broke ground Tuesday on the<br \/>\n20,000-square-foot facility that is to open next year. The company<br \/>\nexpects to have about 30 employees within two years, and an annual<br \/>\npayroll of $2.6 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company has a relationship with Bismarck State College,<br \/>\nwhere it provides lectures and technical training and support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Locked-out workers at American Crystal Sugar<br \/>\nCo. factories in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota<br \/>\nare demonstrating outside businesses in the Fargo and Grand Forks<br \/>\nareas that sell the company&#8217;s products.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The workers are urging members of the public to participate in a<br \/>\nconsumer boycott to protest the 14-month lockout of union workers<br \/>\nin the two states and Iowa.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The AFL-CIO earlier this month said the boycott will be called<br \/>\noff if the company returns to bargaining and concludes a contract<br \/>\nwith about 1,300 locked-out workers.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company on Monday reiterated its position that its offer to<br \/>\nunion workers was fair. Tonight&#8217;s debate will feature a town-hall style format in which the candidates take questions on foreign and domestic policy from audience members.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) &#8211; The Supreme Court is giving Democrats a<br \/>\nboost, three weeks before the election. The court today refused to<br \/>\nintervene in early voting dispute in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>That, in effect, upheld a lower court decision that reinstated three days of early voting that Ohio Republican officials had tried to eliminate.<\/p>\n<p>President Barack Obama&#8217;s campaign and Ohio Democrats sued the state over<br \/>\nchanges in the law that took away the three days of early voting<br \/>\nfor most people in the state. Nearly 105,000 voted early in 2008.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NARBERTH, Pa. (AP) -Vice President Joe Biden is remembering what<br \/>\nhe calls the &#8220;undaunted courage&#8221; of former U.S. Sen.
