(AP) &#8211; An administrator from a university in Kansas is the new president at Valley City State University.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Board of Higher Education on Thursday named Tisa Mason to take over the job. She has spent the last six years as vice president of student affairs at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mason succeeds Steven Shirley, who left to become president of Minot State University.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mason has previously served as dean of student life at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, executive director of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and Foundation, adjunct professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and director of student life and assistant professor at Christopher Newport University.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The board interviewed Mason Thursday morning in Valley City, then went behind closed doors to discuss its decision and her contract.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D.
