Holte was the lead in the university\u2019s production of &#8220;Carousel&#8221; last year.<\/p>\n<p>Holte said the biggest challenge he has faced is consistency. Crews will then move to the Southeast section of the city. Tree and shrub branches that are overhanging streets and alleys in these areas will be removed to prevent interference with traffic and City maintenance equipment in accordance with City Ordinances.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown City Forester, Doug Wiles says,it is the homeowner&#8217;s responsibility to maintain trees and shrubbery. When this responsibility is neglected, it becomes the duty of the City to clear overgrowth that threatens public safety. In some cases, the only answer is removal of the tree or shrub. This is a clearance procedure and should not be mistaken for a complete pruning of the tree. (AP) &#8211; A California man is dead following a rollover accident in western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 54-year-old Jack Coombs, of Azusa, California, died Saturday after he was ejected from a 1996 GMC Yukon. Authorities say Coombs was not wearing a seatbelt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Patrol says Coombs was traveling southbound on 88th Avenue Northwest, about 9 miles south of New Town, when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway and overturned.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Coombs died of injuries sustained in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 58-year-old inmate has died at the Cass County Jail.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Tara Morris with the sheriff&#8217;s office says Charles William Bliss died around 6:48 a.m. Sunday. Bliss was being housed at the jail on a fugitive warrant from the state of Washington.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Morris says Bliss drew the attention of a corrections officer after breakfast and indicated he was having medical problems. Bliss became unconscious while jail staff initiated emergency procedures and called 911.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Emergency personnel responded to the jail, but their lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Morris says all evidence indicates that Bliss&#8217;s death is related to a medical condition. An autopsy is being conducted by the state&#8217;s medical examiner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police have arrested a Minnesota man on attempted murder and criminal mischief charges after a fight outside a downtown Fargo hotel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 20-year-old man from Mahnomen is accused of stabbing another person multiple times during the alcohol-fueled fight between two groups of people Sunday night in the parking lot of the Scandia Hotel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say another person was hit over the head with some sort of object. That person was treated at a hospital and released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The stabbing victim was listed in stable condition at the hospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Formal charges were not immediately filed against the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man says he will plead guilty to an illegal ammunition charge.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jerome Fletcher, of Minot, is charged in federal court with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Authorities say he had 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition in his possession in November 2013.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fletcher has an extensive criminal record that includes convictions for robbery, assault and possession of methamphetamine.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Sentencing has not been scheduled.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A defense attorney was not available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The state Historical Society is slated to get an update on repairs to the boyhood home of famous band leader Lawrence Welk.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group is slated to get the report on Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group voted in January to buy the Strasburg homestead from Welk&#8217;s nieces. But a final sale price was not negotiated.\u00a0 The purchase agreement also was contingent on negotiated repairs being made to the property, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature last year included $100,000 in the Historical Society&#8217;s budget for the purchase but lawmakers stipulated that repairs must first be made.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A revamped North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum opens to the public Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The opening coincides with the state&#8217;s 125th statehood anniversary. The revamped center includes a new theater, cafe and outdoor space. State lawmakers approved about $40 million for the 97,000-square-foot expansion in 2009. The historical society raised an additional $12 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Two of the museum&#8217;s galleries are slated to open Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Governor&#8217;s Gallery features traveling and temporary exhibits. The gallery&#8217;s first display explores how the lives of rural North Dakota residents changed when they went from using kerosene lamps to having electricity.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Inspirational Gallery shows the history of the state through six different themes. (AP) &#8211; Minot officials are taking aim at backyard target shooting.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A City Council committee has directed the city attorney and police chief to draft an ordinance restricting projectiles. The Minot Daily News reports the ordinance would restrict the use of arrows and BB pellets to qualified shooting ranges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Chief Jason Olson says it&#8217;s a matter of public safety. He says the city had an ordinance at one time but it was eliminated years ago for unknown reasons.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Council member Miranda Schuler opposes an ordinance. She cites the concerns of people who safely target practice in their yards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck-based company is facing fines of $2,500 per day for a Main Street construction project in Williston that is behind schedule.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 $10.7 million project was bid in May and was to be completed on Nov. 1. It got a late start and Knife River Corp. says it is several weeks behind.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City Engineer Bob Hanson says two weeks of good weather is needed for the project to wrap up.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project has detoured people around the commercial and civic heart of Williston. Business owner Tammi Dickerson says she is &#8220;truly disgusted&#8221; with the delay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A quarterly state auction for oil drilling rights on North Dakota state land is being held at the state Capitol in Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0More than 14,115 mineral acres in nine counties will be auctioned Tuesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKenzie County has the most land available for auction, at 9,335 acres. The remaining acreage is located in Billings, Bottineau, Dunn, Hettinger, Mountrail, Renville and Williams counties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota wildlife officials this fall are continuing a surveillance program for chronic wasting disease.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Game and Fish Department will sample hunter-killed deer from 10 hunting units in the central part of the state and one in the southwest for the disease that affects the nervous system of members of the deer family and is always fatal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There&#8217;s no evidence the disease can be transmitted naturally to people or livestock.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Moose and elk killed in the state also are eligible for testing.
