Valley City (CSi) Valley City Police report that on Wednesday November 5th<\/sup> at about 9:45 pm officers responded to a reported stabbing,<\/p>\n

23 year-old Faisal Mohammed allegedly attempted to contact an unidentified individual inside an apartment for money he was owed.<\/p>\n

When 23 year-old Sharmke Abudulle answered the door, Mohammed allegedly brandished a knife and cut Abudulle.<\/p>\n

Abudulle was treated at the scene with a minor laceration to his neck.<\/p>\n

Mohamed was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, and taken to the Barnes County Corrections Center.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Auxiliary will hold its annual Holiday Magic fundraiser today (Friday, November 7, <\/sup>2014) from 7:30 a.m. \u2013 7:30 p.m. Items for sale will include ornaments, holiday d\u00e9cor, stocking stuffers, a bake sale and gifts for everyone on your list.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, our guests were the Co-Chairs of the event, Carol Lawrence and Linda Greer.<\/p>\n

Linda said in addition to the afore mentioned items there will be themed trees, and Carol noted that there will be many railroad themed items, along with holiday table decorations.<\/p>\n

There will also be a raffle with tickets at $5 each, or 5 for $20, with tickets remaining on sale, and the drawing on December 19, 2014.<\/p>\n

The JRMC, Tree of Love ornaments are also available for $5 or $10, to honor or in memory of a person.<\/p>\n

In a news release, JRMC Gift Shoppe Coordinator, Nancy Jo Johnson said, “Holiday Magic is our largest annual event that the Auxiliary holds every year. This is a great time to get an early start on your Christmas shopping and support a great cause.”<\/p>\n

The Christmas bazaar will be located on the lower level conference rooms of JRMC. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the JRMC Foundation for an infant warmer in the Family BirthPlace.<\/p>\n

The JRMC\u00a0 Auxiliary was formed in 1973 by Dorothy Chouinard, who is still an active member.<\/p>\n

The auxiliary provides services and support for the hospital through financial donations and volunteer services. Funds raised by the auxiliary provides material back to the hospital including baby burping cloths, surgery pillows and grab bars.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown City Building Inspector, Gary Klundt report a substantial increase in building permits issued this year.<\/p>\n

Through October 145 building permits were issued in Jamestown compared to 127 in all of 2013.<\/p>\n

The increase in total valuation for permits issued so far in 2014 is $44.5 million, compared to $14.1 million in 2013.<\/p>\n

The biggest project in Jamestown is Deer Ridge Apartments in northeast Jamestown with a building permit value of $14 million.<\/p>\n

The Menards building is the next largest with a $5.9 million value, and the Fairfield Inn located west of the Buffalo Mall ranks third with a $3 million valuation.<\/p>\n

Building permits for single-family homes has increased with 30 issued so far, with four more being processed. In 2013, there were 21 issued for the entire year.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Three Jamestown Public School elementary schools have received a failing grade in a facility assessment.<\/p>\n

The information was presented to the public at a community workshop Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

The assessment was conducted by DLR Group, an architecture firm in Minneapolis<\/p>\n

Gussner, Roosevelt and Washington Elementary schools were given an “F.”<\/p>\n

The grade was based on a inspections of the buildings last summer.<\/p>\n

The grading is based on the physical condition compared to new construction and current building codes, but doesn’t impact the quality of education.”<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) With Valley City voters, Tuesday approving, with 51 percent of the vote, an Advisory Vote for the building of a $16 million community Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center, Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation administrator Andrea Nelson says a drive to raise another $4 million will begin soon.<\/p>\n

The vote advises the Valley City Commission about amending the City Code to enact a City Sales, Use and Gross Receipts Tax, dedicated to the use of no greater than 17% capped at $3-million dollars, plus interest, for a bond issuance to provide financing assisstance for the Valley City Wellness, Health, and Physical Education Center.<\/p>\n

VCSU students have voted to increase their student fees to help fund the facility.<\/p>\n

The proposed 62,000 square foot Wellness Center would be located east of the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse across 8th Avenue southwest.<\/p>\n

The facility is a joint venture with the Valley City Park & Recreation Department, CHI Mercy Health and Valley City State University.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) – Two 20-year-old men are dead after their car collided with a snow plow just west of Wahpeton.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the victims from LaMoure, North Dakota, and Aberdeen, South Dakota. They were pronounced dead at the scene on state Highway 13 about 8 p.m. Thursday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the crash happened at an intersection when the car pulled in front of the snow plow while trying to turn onto the highway.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have identified a Minnesota man who died in a crash on an icy Interstate 94 in southeastern North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 40-year-old Gregory Hillukka, of Cokato, Minnesota, died Wednesday when he lost control of his car near Valley City. Hillukka rear-ended a tow truck that had stopped on the shoulder of the road to pull other vehicles out of the ditch.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hillukka was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow truck driver was not in the vehicle at the time and was not hurt.<\/p>\n

Washington (CSi) The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will prepare an environmental assessment that will discuss the environmental impacts of the Wind Ridge Pipeline project.<\/p>\n

It involves the construction and operation of facilities by WBI Energy Wind Ridge Pipeline, LLC and WBI Energy Transmission, Inc, in Stutsman, LaMoure,McIntosh, and Logan Counties.<\/p>\n

FERC willl use the EA in its decision-making process to determine whether the project is in the public convenience and necessity.<\/p>\n

Those interest may submit comments in written form or verbally.<\/p>\n

In lieu of, or in addition to sending written comments a scoping meeting is set for Jamestown on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 5:30-p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, at 519 1st<\/sup> Avenue, South.<\/p>\n

The scoping period will close on November 24, 2014.<\/p>\n

Another scoping meeting is planned on Thursday November 20, 2014 at 5:30-p.m., at the Wishek Civic Center, at 715 1st<\/sup> Avenue South, in Wishek.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The U.S. Treasury Department has awarded $1.1 million to a North Dakota coalition to help small businesses and local economies.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Red River Corridor Fund is led by the city of Carrington and is a coalition of 36 North Dakota municipalities that work with small companies to acquire loans needed to expand and create more jobs.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mandan leads a similar coalition of 38 other North Dakota municipalities.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the Carrington<\/strong> and Mandan consortiums have received a total of more than $12 million to support small businesses in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – A North Dakota man who was shot by a Montana police officer on Halloween is recovering at a Billings hospital. The Billings Gazette reports 59-year-old Michael Frederick Smith of Bismarck, North Dakota, was listed in fair condition at St. Vincent Healthcare on Wednesday. The officer involved in the shooting is on paid administrative leave during an investigation of the shooting.<\/p>\n

CHURCHS FERRY, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper waded through a slough to rescue an 81-year-old woman who had driven into the water near Churchs Ferry. The patrol says Mertie Kurtti of Rocklake was traveling on U.S. Highway 281 on Wednesday afternoon when she lost control of her car and went into the ditch and then the slough. Trooper Grant Lonski walked through water up to his stomach and pulled Kurtti from the vehicle. She was taken to a Devils Lake hospital and treated for hypothermia.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The second of two men accused of conspiring to kill a South Dakota man in North Dakota was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.

\n21-year-old Joshua Clark was found guilty in July for his role in the killing of 18-year-old John Swain.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Swain was reported missing in May 2013 after moving to Bismarck from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in search of work.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clark’s co-defendant, 26-year-old Theo Crowe, pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to commit murder and was sentenced in January to life in prison.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Clark and Crowe lured Swain into a Bismarck home, hit him with a hammer and cut off his legs.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Company and state health officials say the public has nothing to fear from the possibility that a medical waste incinerator in Fargo could accept Ebola hospital waste from other parts of the country.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Healthcare Environmental Services is on a California Health Department list of potential destinations for any Ebola-related waste. Director Chad Wold says the facility also has been contacted by companies in Indiana and Wisconsin that are putting together contingency plans for Ebola-related waste.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wold says HES is not actively seeking such waste, and will evaluate any requests on a case-by-case basis.

\u00a0NEW YORK (AP) – A hearing for Ray Rice appealing his NFL suspension concluded yesterday after two days and testimony from the former running back and the head of the league. Rice and his wife Janay Rice left the hearing separately after each testified at the New York office of a neutral arbiter. The arbitration hearing will determine whether the NFL overstepped its authority in modifying a two-game suspension of Rice, making it indefinite after video of the running back hitting his wife was released by TMZ.
