News Oct 19, 2012) &#8212; Buffalo City Tourism Foundation Executive Director, Nina Sneider has announced her retirement.<\/p>\n<p>She says it will become effective at the end of March of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>She is the first, only executive of the BCTF, formed in March of 2004.<\/p>\n<p>She says, after retirement, she\u2019ll return to Minnesota, to be near her daughter and husband, her grandchildren, and seek part-time employment in a field where she can still visit with travelers.<\/p>\n<p>She adds, that her initial goals, were to set up a location for a tourism office (near Frontier Village), establish a board of directors, and develop brochures.<\/p>\n<p>Other goals were to increase visitors to Jamestown, and the tax base.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Sneider says she has enjoyed watching projects come to life, noting that BCTF volunteers have put in many hours of service, including writing grants that have gone toward tourism programs in Jamestown, and then following through.<\/p>\n<p>The position of Buffalo City Tourism Foundation, Executive Director, will be advertised for in North and South Dakota and Minnesota, with a successor in place late this year or, next year so Ms. Snieder can train the new person.<\/p>\n<p>She adds the application deadline in November 15, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation board will review r\u00e9sum\u00e9s and conduct interviews with the candidates for the position.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Carrington, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Carrington School District, has been selected as a $10,000 winner in the Monsanto Fund\u2019s America\u2019s Farmers Grow Rural Education<sup>SM<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>This program gives farmers the opportunity to nominate their public school district to apply for a merit-based grant to enhance math and science education.<\/p>\n<p>After a three-tier grant review process, Carrington School District was selected as one of five winners in North Dakota, which has a total of $65,000 is being invested in rural education.<\/p>\n<p>Carrington School District faculty, local farmers and Monsanto representatives will participate in a check presentation ceremony prior to the varsity girls\u2019 volleyball match, on Monday October 22, 2012, at about 6-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>BUCYRUS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A relief fund has been set up for residents of Bucyrus (byoo-SY&#8217;-ruhs) after a wildfire swept through the small southwestern North Dakota community.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dakota Plains Federal Credit Union in Hettinger has set up a<br \/>\nfund, and also has established a $50,000 pool from which to make<br \/>\nlow-interest loans to fire victims.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the Wednesday fire destroyed four homes, two<br \/>\nvacant farms and a picture-framing business.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire that was fanned by strong winds was not immediately determined.<br \/>\nNone of the two dozen residents of the town was hurt.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mike and Evelyn Krug are among those who lost their home. (AP) &#8211; A 19-year-old West Fargo man has been<br \/>\nsentenced to three years and five months in prison for robbing a<br \/>\nconvenience store in nearby Moorhead, Minn., at gunpoint.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brandon Sherman was convicted at trial earlier this year on a<br \/>\ncharge of felony aggravated robbery, and sentenced Thursday.
