The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway
\nPatrol have issued a Travel Alert for south central North Dakota due to wet and
\nslippery road conditions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cities included in the Travel Alert are Killdeer, Dickinson,
\nBismarck, Jamestown, Valley City<\/strong>, Ashley, and surrounding areas. A Travel Alert
\nmeans conditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas, but should
\nbe advised of rapidly changing conditions.<\/p>\n

A No Travel Advisory remains in effect for northwestern North Dakota due icy road
\nconditions creating hazardous driving conditions.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 \u00a0The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports icy conditions on I-94, caused a semi to lose control and overturn roughly 5 miles West of Jamestown at around 8-p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

32 year-old Desmond Nicholas of Blue Springs, Missouri was traveling westbound when his semi-trailer broke loose on the ice. He took evasive action, causing the semi to lose control and overturn onto the drivers side.\u00a0Nicholas sustained injuries from the crash and was taken to the JRMC for treatment. His passenger, 38 year-old Torrian Atcherson was uninjured from the crash.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown and Devils Lake airline boards in November this year continue to climb above numbers for November of 2013 and 2012.<\/p>\n

The State Aeronautics Commission reports that in November this year, Jamestown had 656 boardings, compared to 224 in November of 2013 a 192 percent increase. In November of 2012 Jamestown had 251 boardings.<\/p>\n

The Devils Lake boarding in November this year rose to 403 and increase of 122 precent over the November 2013 boardings of 181. There were 251 boardings in Devils Lake in November of 2012.<\/p>\n

This November Jamestown and Devils Lake boardings are on United Express\/SkyWest. Prior to June this year, Great Lakes Airlines served both cities.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society is still offering the $99 adoption fee on cats and dogs thru the end of the year.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Humane Society\u2019s President, Matt Opahl said a Christmas tree with photos of adoptable animals, and donation box is at the Buffalo Mall outside of Home of Economy. He said the tree and donation box will be available until the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The James River Humane Society is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit.<\/p>\n

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) – Health officials in North Dakota say they have been receiving complaints about unlicensed tattoo shops that are operating in the state.<\/p>\n

Central Valley Health of Jamestown services eight counties, including Stutsman, and licenses businesses that offer tattoo and piercing services. Administrator Robin Iszler says the complaints have come from people who have gotten a tattoo at an unlicensed facility.<\/p>\n

Iszler says shops without a license can have sanitary problems.<\/p>\n

Iszler says shops offering tattoo services must be able to show a license upon request. Iszler adds customers should report the business immediately if a license is not available.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The first Read Local<\/i> event was held recently at the Vet\u2019s Club in Jamestown. Jane Norman introduced the six local authors Bruce Berg, Keith Norman, Bill Kennedy, Laurel Woiwode, Larry Woiwode and Nancy Kuykendall who read from and signed their books. Their work ranges from children\u2019s chapter books, memoir\u2019s, local history and adult novels. Local photographer Troy Gunderson discussed his creative process with his photo\u2019s on display.<\/p>\n

After the readings, the audience had the opportunity to visit with the authors and have their books signed. 20% of the proceeds from book sales was donated to the James River Valley Library Capital Campaign.<\/p>\n

Future events will be planned that will focus attention on the work of local authors and artists and reinforce the importance of literacy among all age groups.<\/p>\n

Finding an audience, traditionally provided by big publishers, now falls to the individual author.<\/p>\n

Read Local is an initiative that focus\u2019s attention on their books and literacy in the community. In 2013 there were 302,622 print books and 155,942 e-books, self-published. There were another 304,912 print and 152,000 e-books published by traditional publishers.<\/p>\n

\nBismarck, (CSi) The NDDOT informs motorists that beginning Monday, December 15, traffic will be temporarily reduced to one lane in the eastbound and westbound lanes on I-94, approximately one mile west of the Mapleton Interchange for overhead power line work. The temporary lane closures are expected to be in place for about one week.<\/p>\n
