TEMPERATURES<br \/>\n\u00a0SHOULD BE FAIRLY MILD FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT AS THE CLOUDS AND\u00a0 LIGHT SNOW DEVELOP&#8230;BUT BEGINNING SATURDAY NIGHT\u00a0 BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN TO THE STATE.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The free Boat and Water Safety course will be held on Tuesday (Dec 30, 2014) with two sessions at 10-a.m., and 1-p.m., at James River Family Fitness in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Bob Martin with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, one of the sponsors, pointed out that both sessions contain the same information, with participants selecting the time that works for them.<\/p>\n<p>He said the classroom instruction includes information on hypothermia, ice safety, and water rescue by the Jamestown Fire Department, and life jacket information, as life jackets are required to be warn for youth 10 years of age and under.<\/p>\n<p>Martin added that two boats will be on the pool\u2019s water, powered by electric trolling motors, to give participants additional instruction, including boating &#8220;rules of the road.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Participants include, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jamestown Fire Department, James River Family Fitness, and the State Game and Fish Department which will hand out informational books activity bags, and water bottles.<\/p>\n<p>Each session is scheduled to last about and hour and half to two hours.<\/p>\n<p>The instruction is gear for those 5-12 years old, anyone is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Reservoir and Pipestem Reservoir are at winter freeze-up levels.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer\u2019s Pipestem Dam, Manager, Bob Martin said, Pipestem Dam is releasing, and will continue to release through the winter, 5 cfs of water, due to some ground water runoff still coming into the reservoir, from nearby wetlands.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out the reservoir level continues to creep up, but is not creating any problem.<\/p>\n<p>At Jamestown Reservoir, releases were shut off the first week of December, and the gate is expected to be closed for the balance of the winter.<\/p>\n<p>With frost, Martin said so far the depth is negligible, but that could change with colder weather, and the amount of snow cover.<\/p>\n<p>He added that next week the weather service will begin measuring moisture content in the snow pack, and then every two weeks until the snow cover is gone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) A reminder from Jamestown Public Schools, the next Jamestown Public School Board meeting is January 19, 2015. (AP) &#8211; A spokesman for North Dakota AAA says gasoline prices continue to drop but they still are higher than the national average.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Automobile club spokesman Gene LaDoucer says the statewide average price for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.39 per gallon on Monday.\u00a0 Jamestown&#8217;s on Monday was $2.29 per gallon, for self service regular.\u00a0 He says the national average was $2.28 per gallon.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LaDoucer says gasoline prices in North Dakota have dropped $1.30 a gallon since late June. He says the last time the statewide average was below the current level was in May 2009.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A judge has set bail at $500,000 for a man accused in a sexual assault case involving three North Dakota State University students.<br \/>\n39-year-old Stanley Busche of rural Argusville appeared in court on Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the three students were attacked Dec. 20 when a man entered an unlocked door of their ground-floor apartment near campus and ordered them to strip at knifepoint. Police say the man sexually assaulted at least one of the women, and one was injured during a struggle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Busche told a judge Monday that he&#8217;s not a violent person and he plans to hire his own attorney.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Busche faces charges of gross sexual imposition, attempted sexual imposition and terrorizing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEHN&#8217;-juhm) says Ward County doesn&#8217;t have to pay a $2,500 disconnect permit fee to a water district.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says in a written opinion issued Monday that Ward County acquired some properties to restore &#8220;green space&#8221; following the massive 2011 Souris River flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Water and sewer services to the properties were shut off at the curb stop and never reconnected. In October 2011, the water district notified property owners that they had to pay a $14.95 monthly fee, even if they were not in their homes and the water was shut off.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says the county &#8220;has no duty to pay&#8221; the West River Water District because of a contract it had with the past owners of the properties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say three Mexican nationals are accused of trafficking methamphetamine in western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 men were arrested following a vehicle crash on Dec. 22 in McKenzie County. The men&#8217;s names were not released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the three men fled the vehicle following a crash with a tanker truck. Two of the men were arrested a short time later.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say during the search, a jug of laundry detergent containing 30 grams of methamphetamine was found, with an estimated street value of $6,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The third man was captured Wednesday, when agents of the U.S. Border Patrol notified the McKenzie County sheriff&#8217;s office that the man had been captured near Williston following reports of drug sales in the area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The head of the North Dakota State University Development Foundation and Alumni Association is stepping down.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NDSU officials say Doug Mayo expressed interest to leave the group. Officials say executive committees passed a resolution approving a mutually agreed upon separation agreement.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mayo took over the foundation last year. The fire left at least 10 people dead, and the toll could rise &#8212; since the number of people accounted for is lower than the number on the ferry&#8217;s manifest. And some of the survivors didn&#8217;t appear on that manifest &#8212; suggesting that many were illegal migrants trying to reach Italy. (AP) &#8211; Actor Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the 1990s television show &#8220;Saved by the Bell,&#8221; has appeared in a Wisconsin courtroom on charges that he stabbed a man during a bar fight on Christmas Day. Charges include disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon. After spending the weekend in jail, Diamond posted $10,000 bond before today&#8217;s hearing, where his lawyer asked for reduced bail and a jury trial.
