Jamestown (CSi) At their annual meeting, Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors<\/p>\n

discussed adding to the Jamestown campsites.<\/p>\n

The Executive Committee has discussed the possibility of having tourism lead an effort to develop another campground or assist a business or concessionaire in building a new campground in the area.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund said this winter and spring he will take a new camping informational booklet, including Jamestown Tourism\u2019s new promotional materials to various trade shows around the country to promote Jamestown as an outdoors destination.<\/p>\n

At the meeting the board also reviewed 2014 accomplishments and reviewed possible goals for 2015.<\/p>\n

The board unanimously appointed its 2015 officers, who as the board\u2019s executive committee.<\/p>\n

\u3000ST. LOUIS (AP) – North Dakota and Arkansas have asked a federal appeals court in St. Louis to reinstate two of the nation’s most stringent abortion bans.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in the cases Tuesday. The states want to reinstate abortion restrictions approved by lawmakers in 2013 but overturned by lower federal courts in separate decisions.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota law banned abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks into pregnancy and before many women know they’re pregnant. A U.S. District Court judge in Bismarck ruled the law unconstitutional in April 2014.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Arkansas law banned abortions after 12 weeks. Lawmakers in the Republican-controlled Legislature overrode former Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe’s veto.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The appeals court didn’t immediately rule.<\/p>\n

\u00a0DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – Significant cracks have been found on the currently frozen Devils Lake raising concerns among some winter enthusiasts.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jeff Katzer a long-time fishing guide with Woodland Resort says the cracks are a few feet long in some places where typically only small cracks would show up. There are about 24 inches of ice on the lake in most places.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Katzer says the resort has built ramps over the cracks in order to allow anglers and staff to move to and from ice houses safely. He says the problem is of such magnitude that the winter season’s “roads” on the lake have been temporarily shut down.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Katzer says the warmer temperatures in the forecast for later this week will only make matters worse.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota lawmaker is pushing a measure that would grant immunity for someone who calls authorities to report a drug overdose.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Republican Sen. Howard Anderson says the bill is aimed at saving lives. The retired Turtle Lake pharmacist says there are cases in North Dakota in which drug overdoses have gone unreported for fear of criminal prosecution.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Senate Judiciary Committee took testimony on the bill Tuesday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tyler Auck of Bismarck said he’s a recovering drug user and urged lawmakers to pass the measure. Auck said he once overdosed on drugs and was left to die because his acquaintances were afraid to call authorities, fearing they would go to jail.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Conference of State Legislatures says more than 20 states have some form of a drug immunity law.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Two women have rings of their own following North Dakota State University’s win on Saturday in the Football Championship Subdivision title game – not championship rings but engagement rings.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Two \u00a0NDSU players proposed to their girlfriends while fans were storming the field in Frisco, Texas, following NDSU’s 29-27 win over Illinois State. It was the fourth consecutive national title for the Bison.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NDSU offensive lineman Zac Johnson proposed to Trisha Goerts, and offensive lineman Jesse Hinz proposed to Gretchen Folkerts. Both women said yes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hinz and Folkerts likely will wed this summer, while Johnson and Goerts are eyeing a summer 2015 wedding.<\/p>\n

\u00a0PARIS (AP) – France’s premier is pushing for tougher anti-terrorism measures, declaring that his country is “at war with terrorism” and jihadism. In a speech to the National Assembly Tuesday, Prime Minister Manuel Valls said he would seek tighter surveillance of convicted extremists after last week’s deadly attacks in Paris. Following the speech, France’s lower house of Parliament overwhelmingly approved extending French airstrikes against the Islamic State group in Iraq.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PARIS (AP) – The French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo is going to print with its first edition since last week’s massacre in its editorial offices. The new issue features a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover, with a tear in his eye and holding a sign that reads “I am Charlie.” It also has the words “All is forgiven” above. In its lead editorial, the paper defends its right to lampoon religions and religious leaders and hold them accountable.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CHICAGO (AP) – The mother of a 19-year-old suburban Chicago man facing a terrorist charge is decrying what she describes as “unspeakable acts of horror” carried out by extremists, saying they “completely at odds” with the Islamic faith. Zarine Khan read a statement in a Chicago federal courthouse lobby Tuesday after her son’s arraignment. She says the Islamic State group is “brainwashing” young people, like her son, through social media. Mohammed Hamzah Khan is accused of trying to join IS.

The talks come as a March target date approaches to conclude a deal. Negotiators are trying to turn an interim accord into a permanent deal that would address international concerns about Iran’s nuclear program.

In the Senate, lawmakers are debating a bill to move forward on the Keystone XL pipeline.\u00a0 Obama invited his antagonists to the White House Tuesday for their first sit-down since the new Congress convened last week under full GOP control.<\/p>\n
