SNOW AMOUNTS SHOULD REMAIN LIGHT.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/slippery.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-33550\" alt=\"slippery\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/slippery-300x202.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/slippery-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/slippery-259x175.jpg 259w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/slippery.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police on Tuesday morning is reporting traffic accidents, with slippery driving conditions on city streets.<\/p>\n<p>Four to five\u00a0 accidents were reported between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., Tuesday.\u00a0 No injuries were reported in any of the accidents.<\/p>\n<p>Sanding trucks were called out about 8:30-a.m., to a number of locations, as vehicles were reported sliding through intersections.<\/p>\n<p>Freezing drizzle is forecast through Tuesday morning changing over to snow early Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Then snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches in the forecast as well for Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Snow will again spread over the area Tuesday night from northwest to southeast, and gradually end Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Expect total snowfall amounts through Wednesday afternoon of up to around three inches.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.nd.gov\/travel-info-v2\/\">http:\/\/www.dot.nd.gov\/travel-info-v2\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0This evening \u00a0Jamestown Public Schools will host the next community meeting at 6:30-p.m., at the Jamestown Middle School, Thompson Room.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Public School Superintendent Rob Lech said, public input is being solicited concerning the the long-range facilities planning, including a facilities assessment, staff and community engagement, and ultimately assistance with approving the long-range facility plan, that would be adopted by the Jamestown Public School Board.<\/p>\n<p>A boundary analysis will be made for K-5 schools, to meet capacity limits.<\/p>\n<p>He said the input is needed as the school district makes difficult decisions regarding facilities, short-term and long-term. The community input will help the school district understand what students and the community needs, and the level of support for each of these concepts.<\/p>\n<p>Lech added that the January 20<sup>th<\/sup> public meeting will give the school district perspectives necessary to make the best possible decisions for Jamestown Public Schools.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Public School Board Monday evening heard a report from Superintendent Rob Lech concerning a meeting he had with Jamestown officials to find solutions to congested traffic problems at the middle school bus stop and the high school parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Any changes under consideration would go into effect next school year.<\/p>\n<p>One idea is to move the bus stop to the back of the middle school to alleviate congestion with parents who are dropping off or picking up students in the same area.<\/p>\n<p>Also discussed is a one-way entrance into the high school parking lot from 12th Avenue Northeast and a one-way exit onto 13th Street Northeast.<\/p>\n<p>Lech said he also wants more consistent signage throughout the district and and removing some of the diagonal parking spaces along 3rd Street Southeast to improve the field of vision around the middle school.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the meeting Carol Ulrich, whose children both attend school at Jamestown Public Schools, voiced her concerns about data that will be collected on students under the new Common Core standards for education<\/p>\n<p>She said the Common Core tests go beyond checking a child\u2019s proficiency in math or English in that they collect psychological and behavior assessments on students as well.<\/p>\n<p>Lech said he understands the concerns over data privacy, and school district employees are concerned about protecting their own data as well as the data of the students.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the state Department of Public Instruction has a data advisory team working on the implementation of the Common Core standards, and he was &#8220;very confident that they have a high level of scrutiny of where that data goes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000The meeting was recorded by CSi 10 THE \u00a0REPLAY CHANNEL, with replays starting Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council&#8217;s Finance and Legal Committee\u00a0this afternoon \u00a0will consider approving the request for Sabir\u2019s II, LLC (Nam Sabir) of Valley City, to assume the CGBG $220,400 equipment loan of BCG Jamestown, LLC (James and Sherry Heyer) Buffalo City, Buffalo City Rotisserie Grille, as part of the purchase of the restaurant business located at 103 First Avenue South.<\/p>\n<p>Any recommendation for approval is subject to approval from the ND Division of Community Service.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that at approximately 6:40 a.m., Monday , an eastbound 2000 GMC straight truck hauling frozen pizzas was coming from Valley City, headed to Fargo. Near milepost 319, five mile east of Buffalo, The driver, the lone occupant, 46 year old James McEwen, of Fargo, lost control of the truck causing it to tip onto its passenger side in the south ditch. The truck box was compromised during the crash, causing the pizzas to spill out into the ditch. (AP) &#8211; Residents of a 46-unit apartment building in Fargo were evacuated for a time after a kitchen fire in one of the units.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say no one was hurt in the incident about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. It took firefighters only 10 minutes to put out the flames, but damage was estimated at about $150,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All tenants were able to return to the three-story building except for those in the apartment where the fire started and those in a neighboring apartment. The Red Cross was arranging temporary housing.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investigators believe the fire started on the kitchen stove.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ROSS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two men were hospitalized with severe burns after a fire in a building at an oil well in Mountrail County.<\/p>\n<p>The Sheriff&#8217;s Department says 27-year-old Kyle Stipcich and 30-year-old Jonathan Henderson were injured Friday afternoon at the well southwest of Ross.<\/p>\n<p>Stipcich was flown to the Regions Hospital burn unit in St. Paul, Minnesota, for treatment, and Henderson was taken to Trinity Hospital in Minot.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minot police are searching for two males who allegedly robbed a man and then fired shots at him when he fled.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the 27-year-old victim was outside smoking late Friday when he was approached by the two males, held at gunpoint and robbed of his wallet and other belongings &#8220;in an attempt to settle a debt.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the man ran from the scene, and the suspects fired four or five shots at him. He was not hit, but police say a neighbor who also was outside at the time was nearly struck by a bullet that hit her house.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man who led police on a vehicle chase through a North Dakota town and then resisted arrest has been sentenced to a year and a half in federal prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Dezmond Andres Sr. was pulled over for a traffic violation near New Town in April 2013, but sped off after a passenger left the vehicle. Police said other motorists were forced off the road during the chase. Andres eventually stopped after his front tires blew out.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show that Andres tried to take refuge in a semi-trailer and was eventually subdued with use of a Taser.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Andres pleaded guilty earlier to resisting a federal officer.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The defendant&#8217;s attorney was not available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot lawmaker is pushing a measure that would give state income tax breaks to low-wage earners in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Republican Sen. David Houge says single people earning less than $36,250 would pay no state income tax under his proposal. A married couple filing jointly would pay no income tax if their wages are less than $62,600.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Houge told the Senate Finance and Taxation Committee on Tuesday that the income tax cut would help people with low incomes and force lawmakers to control spending.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Houge says the measure would cost the state an estimated $151 million annually in lost revenues.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Tax Department estimates there are about 435,000 North Dakotans who file state income taxes. Houge&#8217;s proposed legislation would affect about 170,000 low-wage earners.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota lawmakers are considering a proposal that would allow elected public officials to carry firearms at the state Capitol and other public buildings.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Current North Dakota law forbids carrying concealed weapons in public places. There are exemptions for law enforcement officers and others.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The measure is sponsored by 12 Republican lawmakers. Rep. Ben Koppelman of West Fargo is the bill&#8217;s primary sponsor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The proposal would require the elected official to have a valid concealed weapons license to pack a gun in a public building.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minnesota man accused of running an illegal gambling operation in North Dakota has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show Gerald Greenfield, of Bloomington, Minnesota, plans to plead guilty to transmitting wager information and money laundering.\u00a0 Details of the plea agreement have not been released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Greenfield is charged in federal court with three counts, including conducting a sports betting business and conspiracy to commit money laundering.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Dallas-based oil company says someone has vandalized one of its oil well sites near Watford City, causing more than 250 barrels of oil to be released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Petro-Hunt L.L.C. reported Monday that 260 barrels of oil were released, contained and recovered at a site about 25 miles northeast of Watford City.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Company spokesman Fred Hosey says someone came onto their unsecured site, broke the seals on the tank valves and opened them. He says the oil was released only within a protective berm.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hosey says while vandalism isn&#8217;t common at their sites, it does happen. He says occasionally it&#8217;s a local with a bone to pick, but most of the time authorities never find the culprits.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident has been reported and the local authorities are investigating.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The state oil authorities say all but five barrels of brine have been cleaned up from a spill that occurred near Tioga this weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division says the Hess Corporation reported on Saturday that 320 barrels of brine were released and contained at the BLDU central tank facility in Williams County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brine is an unwanted byproduct of oil production and is considered an environmental hazard by the state. It is many times saltier than sea water and can easily kill vegetation exposed to it.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company says the cause of the spill was a leaking pipe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A new rule aimed at curbing the wasteful burning of natural gas in North Dakota and one that would make crude oil safer for shipment would be void under a proposal by a group of Republican lawmakers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The three-member North Dakota Industrial Commission that includes GOP Gov. Jack Dalrymple approved the two regulations last year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 GOP Rep. Keith Kempenich of Bowman is pushing the measure that would give lawmakers more oversight in oil-related rulemaking. Kempenich told a Legislative committee Monday that such rules should have gone through Legislature&#8217;s Administrative Rules Committee, which has the power to block, change or delay new regulations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says the Industrial Commission&#8217;s process was thorough. Helms says voiding the new rules would have serious fiscal consequences for the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; People who want to serve on North Dakota&#8217;s Board of Higher Education can apply for a vacancy created by the departure of Chairwoman Kirsten Diederich.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 30. The committee will meet Feb. 4 to forward three nominations to the governor. The governor&#8217;s appointment must be confirmed by the state Senate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Diederich announced earlier this month that she was stepping down ahead of what was expected to be a contentious confirmation hearing for a second term.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Board of Higher Education oversees the state&#8217;s 11 public colleges and universities.
