News Oct 29, 2012) &#8212; The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation, Executive Board has voted unanimously to hire a professional planner for the Jamestown area.<\/p>\n<p>Te recommendation will go to the full JSDC Board, and if approved the recommendation goes to the Stutsman County Commission and the Jamestown City Council for review.<\/p>\n<p>Under the proposal JSDC would fund up to 50 percent of the cost of a city planner, with the cost ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to be negotiated with SRF Consulting.<\/p>\n<p>Past phase one, the proposal would be opened for bids from planning contractors.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 29, 2012) &#8212; Ave Maria Village Monday, announced the receipt of a $50,000 donation of matching funds from Catholic Extension in Chicago, Ill.<\/p>\n<p>The funds will match $1 for every $2 raised, up to $50,000 matched on $100,000 raised in cash from individual donors toward the capital project.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Catholic Extension President Father Jack Wall, says, &#8220;We are proud to partner with the Diocese of Fargo to provide funding to support the chapel construction project at Ave Maria Village. News ) Oct 29, 2012 &#8212; North Dakota Lt. Governor Drew Wrigley visited Jamestown Monday with stops at Cherrington and Cavendish Farms.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the afternoon he campaigned door to door with District 12 Republican Senate candidate Bernie Satrom, and House candidates Alex Looysen and Ken Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Wrigley said, &#8220;It\u2019s been a terrific year so far for Gov. Dalrymple and me campaigning across North Dakota on the Republican ticket with our fantastic fellow candidates. We\u2019re working hard every day, talking to folks about the future, about how far we\u2019ve come as a state and about the progress we know is ahead.<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;We are proud to be writing the next great chapter for North Dakota.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Jack Dalrymple and Lt. News) \u2014 A presentation with information on the Valley City sales tax renewal advisory vote and a discussion concerning the National Guard Interstate 94 development was shown live Monday, (Oct 29, 2012) on CSi Cable 68, and now showing in replays, on Channel 68..<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Barnes County Economic Development Director Jennifer Feist gave the presentation, focusing on the Valley City Sales Tax renewal, and information on the National Guard expansion project, along with industrial\/commercial development opportunities including the I-94 Regional Development Corridor, east of the John Deere Seeding Group plant.<\/p>\n<p>With the Valley City Sales tax, 70 percent of the 1 percent tax goes to economic development, 25 percent for property tax relief, and 5 percent for service and retail image enhancement.<\/p>\n<p>The Sales Tax extension would keep the tax in effect through December 31, 2029.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Feist added the tax extension affords for long term financing, for long term needs.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the presentation included saying 23-35 soldiers will be based in Valley City, with the $3.6 million investment.<\/p>\n<p>The facility includes 110,000 square feet, with a readiness center, maintenance area, and storage facility.<\/p>\n<p>The Guard will also hold weekend drills at the facility.<\/p>\n<p>She said, a 77 acre tract of land owned by the Stan Ryan family will be annexed into Valley City for construction of the new National Guard facility and future development.<\/p>\n<p>On the land, 30 acres will be dedicated to the private sector, 20 acres for the National Guard, with direct access to I-94 Exit 294.<\/p>\n<p>The eastside of the land will be available for commercial\/industrial development.<\/p>\n<p>She said utilities will be run to the facility, by boring under I-94.<\/p>\n<p>She added, other funding sources will include Tax Increment Financing estimated at $1.25 million and $1.5 million in federal EDA funding.<\/p>\n<p>Other funding sources will include state CDBG Funds, dollars from the NDDOT, and the National Guard will provide cost sharing of some of the infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses will all fund a portion of the infrastructure through property taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The South Central Dakota Region Council will also be involved.<\/p>\n<p>The closing is expected no later than December 14, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Planning and design will take place in early 2013, with bidding expected in late 2013, or early 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2014, with completion of the infrastructure in the fall of 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Auditor, Avis Richter reminds voters, that absentee ballots for the City Sales Tax extension, Advisory vote are at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The absentee ballots for the General Election are at the Barnes County Courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>On election day Valley City residents will vote at their regular precincts, for both the advisory vote and the General Election.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; Jamestown College Theatre will open the 2012-13 season with the musical comedy &#8220;The Drowsy Chaperone,&#8221; by Lisa Lambert, Don McKellar, Bob Martin and Gret Morrison. (AP) &#8211; A man accused of cooking up synthetic drugs<br \/>\nthat led to the deaths of two teenagers has pleaded guilty in<br \/>\nfederal court.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">A complaint says Andrew Spofford was a leader in a<br \/>\nconspiracy to deal drugs in the Grand Forks area. Christian Bjerk<br \/>\nand Elijah Stai died of overdoses within a week of each other in<br \/>\nJune.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Spofford will be sentenced in January and faces at least 20<br \/>\nyears in prison.
