Jamestown (CSi) An Iowa man was the driver of a cattle hauler involved in the overturning accident last Friday near Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n

28 year-old Ross Van Kinkel of Inwood, Iowa was traveling eastbound on I-94 east of Exit 257 when the rig drifted into the left lane.<\/p>\n

He over-corrected and the unit tipped over on the driver\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Van Kinkel was not wearing his seat belt and was not injured.<\/p>\n

He was cited for care required.<\/p>\n

The hauler contained 88 head of cattle with 23 dying in the accident.<\/p>\n

16 head of cattle that got loose, were herded into a makeshift cattle gate from as far away as the Menard\u2019s construction site. .<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Jamestown Police were on scene to assist.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Sport and Recreation Show, is one highlight of Cabin Fever Days in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The show opens Friday and runs through Sunday at the Civic Center, open from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Cabin Fever Days runs through February, 15th, a joint venture of <\/sup><\/p>\n

the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department and the community.<\/p>\n

A new event added this year is the Cabin Fever Days Dodgeball Tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Larson Lifetime Sports Center at James River Family Fitness, with no admission charge.<\/p>\n

Proceeds will be used for a fitness program at the facility.<\/p>\n

Cabin Fever Days starts Friday with a Jamestown Optimist Club spaghetti feed from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Exchequer Room at the Jamestown Civic Center. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for students, and children younger than 5 eat for free.<\/p>\n

Saturday is the Elkettes “Souper Saturday” soup and sandwich feed, a performance by the Oompapas, a pinochle tournament and a co-ed softball tournament. “Souper Saturday” is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elks, and the cost is $5. The Oompapas will perform old and new music from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Mall. The pinochle tournament is at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Municipal Golf Course Pro Shop, and the cost to register is $8, which includes lunch and a beverage.<\/p>\n

John Ruff at parks and rec adds, registration is still open for the co-ed softball tournament that begins at 11 a.m. at McElroy Park. The cost to register is $60 per team.<\/p>\n

All planned is horse-drawn rides Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bunker.<\/p>\n

Other events around town include the third annual Heart Redneck Triathlon at Buffalo Lanes on February 14th and the Prairie Paws Rescue meet and greet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply Co.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) A Memorial Service is planned for a former Jamestown College president<\/p>\n

Sunday at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.<\/p>\n

87 year old Roy Stuckey, died November 16, 2014 in Tucson, Ariz. He served as president of Jamestown College, now the University of Jamestown, from 1969-1974. He was also an active member of the Jamestown Lions Club.<\/p>\n

During Stuckey\u2019s tenure as JC president, the Raugust Library was built on the campus in 1971.<\/p>\n

Stuckey graduated from Wilmington High School in Ohio in 1945 and from Wilmington College. He earned a Master of Science in agricultural economics and his doctoral degree in bovine physiology at Ohio State University. Stuckey founded an agriculture program at Wilmington College in 1948 and went on to become a dairyman.<\/p>\n

Stuckey is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sister, June Stuckey, a former vice president of academic affairs at Jamestown College; four children; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n

A memorial service will be held for Stuckey under the care of the Campus Friends Meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Cultural Center at Wilmington College with a visitation to follow.<\/p>\n

Bearson’s body was found outside a recreational vehicle store in Moorhead on Sept. 23, three days after he was last seen at a party about six blocks from his dorm in Fargo, North Dakota.

The House Human Services Committee took testimony yesterday on a bill that would allow marijuana or cannabis-related products for medical use. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem opposes the measure, saying the bill doesn’t address numerous regulatory and public safety concerns.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Republican lawmaker whose district is in North Dakota’s top oil-producing regions wants to expand the state Industrial Commission from three members to five.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission oversees the state Department of Mineral Resources, North Dakota’s oil and gas regulatory agency. Besides Gov. Jack Dalrymple, its other members are Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.

Residents would pay higher city sales taxes but lower property taxes. If the City Council agrees, the matter could go to voters in April.<\/p>\n

Terrance E. Ingram of Renaissance High School (Detroit, MI) is 6\u20191″ tall. He was his team\u2019s Lineman of the Year. He had 70 season tackles, five fumble recoveries, 31 assists, and 2 blocked punts.<\/p>\n

Trevor White of Meridian High School who will join the Jimmies in the 2015-2016 season.<\/p>\n

White (Meridian, ID) is 5\u201910″ tall and weighs in at 200 pounds. He runs the 40 yard dash in 5.0 seconds. White has had 61 season and 105 career tackles. White made 2nd<\/sup> team all-conference defensive line, defensive lineman of the year, and the Shriner\u2019s All-Star game.<\/p>\n

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSU) – Valley City State University football coach Dennis McCulloch announced\u00a0 Wednesday the addition of 29 student-athletes who have signed letters of intent to continue their football careers at VCSU.<\/p>\n

The group of VCSU recruits includes 14 North Dakota natives, 10 players from Minnesota, two from Arizona, and one each from South Dakota, Alaska and Nebraska.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Funeral services have been scheduled for former North Dakota State football player Tyler Jangula. Jangula died Sunday at age 28 in his Williston home. Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home says his funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Williston, followed by his burial in the city’s Riverview Cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and Saturday at the church for one hour before the funeral.<\/p>\n
