News &amp; AP \u00a0Oct 30, 2012) &#8212; Senator John Hoeven Tuesday named former Valley City Administrator, Jon Cameron to provide constituent services to residents of western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron will be based in Williston and will serve western counties, including the communities of Dickinson, Belfield, Killdeer, Watford City, Stanley, New Town, Crosby and Tioga.<\/p>\n<p>The new office will help the Senator assist constituents, businesses and community leaders as they address infrastructure needs and other challenges in this rapidly growing area.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hoeven says the former city administrator of Valley City,\u00a0 has a good background and understanding of issues facing residents on both the county and city levels.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron was a controversial public figure in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>He resigned in October 2011 after months of political turmoil<br \/>\ninvolving a dispute with the police chief.<\/p>\n<p>Voters defeated an effort to eliminate Cameron&#8217;s job but he announced the next day he was leaving anyway because he thought it was in the city&#8217;s best<br \/>\ninterest.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0He took a city manager job in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<p>In Valley City he was heavily involved in infrastructure projects and worked on flood protection during the record floods of 2009 and 2011 in eastern North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>He worked extensively with then-Governor Hoeven during the flood of 2009. He also worked with Hoeven to secure a $15 million upgrade to the city\u2019s water treatment plant.<\/p>\n<p>In the course of his former work, Cameron has experience and working relationships with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other federal agencies.<\/p>\n<p>He has also worked closely with numerous state agencies, including the governor\u2019s office, the North Dakota National Guard, Department of Emergency Services, Department of Transportation, State Water Commission and a range of other agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron has held executive and administrative positions in Oklahoma, Florida and Texas, in addition to North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron\u2019s email address is <a href=\"mailto:jon_cameron@hoeven.senate.gov\"><strong>jon_cameron@hoeven.senate.gov<\/strong><\/a><strong><strong>. <\/strong><\/strong>He can also be reached by phone at 701-580-4535.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Hoeven for the announcement were Williston Mayor Ward Koeser, Watford City Mayor Brent Sanford, Crosby Mayor Les Bakken, Williams County Commissioner Dan Kalil and other community leaders, developers and legislators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Sen.
