(AP) &#8211; Freezing rain coated roads in some parts of the Dakotas, making for a slippery commute.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Weather Service early Tuesday issued freezing rain advisories for south central North Dakota and for a large portion of eastern South Dakota. Forecasters said ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch were expected.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At least one school in northeastern South Dakota delayed the start of classes due to the conditions.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A winter weather advisory was posted for far northeastern South Dakota and for north central and eastern North Dakota into Tuesday afternoon. (AP) &#8211; A fire in a Grand Forks apartment injured one person and displaced more than a dozen other residents of the building.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in the sixth-floor apartment Monday evening. Officials say fire damage was contained to the apartment, but there was smoke and water damage throughout the sixth floor and water damage to apartments below where the fire started.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The occupant of that apartment was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. At least 14 other residents of the building were displaced due to the damage. The Red Cross was helping them find temporary lodging.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) &#8211; Moorhead police are asking for help in identifying a vehicle that was spotted on surveillance video near the area where the body of slain North Dakota State University student Thomas Bearson was found last September. Police have not been able to identify the make or model of the car, which spent a couple of minutes in a parking lot next to a recreational vehicle store in Moorhead on the evening of Sept. 20.\u00a0 Bearson&#8217;s body was found in the RV lot on Sept. 23.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A West Fargo woman who pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in the death of her 4-day-old son has been ordered to spend about two months in jail. Authorities say Reanne Pederson&#8217;s baby died a day after the 32-year-old woman fell asleep while breastfeeding him in June 2014. She told authorities she likely suffocated the boy. Pederson pleaded guilty last November.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An inmate at the North Dakota State Penitentiary is accused of threatening a federal judge.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Robert Lee Johnson is charged with one count of mailing threatening communications. He&#8217;s scheduled to make his first court appearance later this month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Johnson sent a letter to U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson that threatened Erickson and his family. The letter was postmarked on June 16.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal public defender could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 57-year-old Sioux County man accused of sexually assaulting two young girls is facing multiple charges in federal court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jonathan Stretches of Cannon Ball made his initial court appearance Monday. He&#8217;s charged with five counts of sexual contact and one count of aggravated sexual assault in connection with incidents involving two minors between 1994 and 2005.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to court documents, the first three counts allege he inappropriately touched one of the girls on three separate occasions. The documents show the three other counts involve another girl, including one count alleging Stretches attempted to have sex with her and threaten death or serious injury to the girl&#8217;s mother.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stretches is set to return to court Wednesday. It wasn&#8217;t immediately known if he has an attorney yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The average retail price of a gallon of gasoline in the Dakotas has crept back above the $2 mark.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 GasBuddy.com reports that the average price in North Dakota has risen nearly 11 cents per gallon in the past week, to $2.08. In South Dakota, the average price has risen about the same, to $2.02.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials cite rising oil prices and worries about worker strikes at refineries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The national average increased nearly 13 cents per gallon over the week, to $2.17. But that&#8217;s still more than $1.10 cheaper than last year at this time.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. is asking North Dakota regulators to approve a natural gas rate increase.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MDU is seeking a 3.4 percent overall rate increase, which would raise $4.3 million a year more than current rates. If approved by the Public Service Commission, it would increase the monthly bill of residential customers by an average of about $3.50.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The utility says it needs the rate increase to cover the cost of increased investment in natural gas facilities. MDU&#8217;s natural gas investment in the state is projected to be $212 million by the end of the year, up 15 percent from last year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MDU serves about 105,000 natural gas customers in 74 North Dakota communities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Utah woman who worked in the North Dakota oil fields has filed a federal lawsuit against her former employer, alleging gender discrimination and equal pay violations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cindy Marchello, of Ogden, Utah, filed the lawsuit Monday in federal district court in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marchello started working as a pump operator for Texas-based C&amp;J Energy Services Inc. in October of 2012. She says her manager later gave her a desk job because it was &#8220;too dangerous&#8221; and &#8220;too cold&#8221; for her in the field.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marchello also alleges that she was paid less than her male counterparts and that her employers threatened to fire her if she spoke out.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marchello is being represented by Minneapolis-based Halunen Law.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A representative from C&amp;J Energy Services didn&#8217;t immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Park Board has approved a lease of the John L. Wilson Arena ice rinks to Pure Hockey the local ice hockey organization, in April to extend the ice hockey season for area players.<\/p>\n<p>The group will lease the ice time for about $10,000, which is the estimated cost for running the arena&#8217;s two ice rinks for a month.<\/p>\n<p>Pure Hockey is a not-for-profit hockey group is in the process of raising the funds.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the park board approved the law firm Dalsted &amp; Ryan, PC as law firm that Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department retains for any legal work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The University of North Dakota men&#8217;s hockey team has retained its Top Five positions in both national polls this week, after being idle over the weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND is No. 3 in the USA Today\/USA Hockey Magazine poll and No. 2 in the USCHO.com poll. Minnesota State tops both polls.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND hosts Denver this weekend.
