Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown High School\u2019s Team Number One,\u00a0won the state LifeSmarts championship, held in Bismarck, Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown High School Number One\u00a0team will represent North Dakota at the LifeSmarts National Championships in Seattle in April.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Second and third place went to Kindred High School\u2019s two teams.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Captain of the Jamestown team Number One, Kelsey Becker,\u00a0says this year\u2019s competition\u00a0\u00a0featured the final round extending to two final rounds because of the double-elimination style.<\/p>\n

The state championJamestown \u00a0team members are Becker, Andrew Breidenbach, Jessica Vandal, Dan Reimers and Sierra Schlenker.<\/p>\n

Seven high school teams competed in several elimination rounds before the top three teams advanced to the final rounds. Students answered questions in five subject areas \u2014 personal finance, health and safety, environment, technology and consumer rights and responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Parrell Grossman, director of the Attorney General\u2019s Consumer Protection Division and question master for the competition, said he was impressed with all of the participants.<\/p>\n

The other high schools competing in the state competition\u00a0 were from Central Cass, Flasher and Kindred.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Sanford Health\u2019s audiology services in Jamestown will be moving to the Sanford Health Clinic, at the 5th Ave NE clinic,<\/strong> starting Monday, February 16, 2015.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The North Dakota Intercollegiate Band Concert will be Saturday February 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the University of Jamestown’s Reiland Fine Arts Center, and is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

College bands from North Dakota join up to entertain, including the University of Jamestown, Valley City State University, Bismarck State College, Dickinson State University, Minot State University, NDSU, University of Mary, and UND.<\/p>\n

This will be the 14th Annual concer for music and non-music majors.<\/p>\n

Students will arrive in Jamestown on Friday Februrary 20th, with rehearsals ahead of Saturday afternoon’s concert.<\/p>\n

The guest director will be Dr. Donald DeRoche who was a director at DePaul University in Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2013 A Finley woman who admitted to killing her husband at their home a year ago has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sherry Midstokke (MID\u2019-stock) pleaded guilty last month to murder for the slaying of 66-year-old Lyle Midstokke. Prosecutors say she drugged and smothered him to death last February.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Test results are pending on the third suspected case. Health officials say the person has been advised to avoid contact with others.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus. It spreads through the air through coughing and sneezing. An outbreak in the U.S. began at Disneyland in December and has since been spreading beyond California.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No measles cases have been confirmed yet in North Dakota. Health officials are reminding the public about the importance of being vaccinated for the disease.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s lone U.S. Representative has voted to approve a bipartisan bill to construct the Keystone XL oil pipeline. Republican Representative Kevin Cramer was one of the 270 representatives who voted yesterday in favor of sending the bill to President Barack Obama’s desk. The president has said he will veto any Keystone legislation that comes to him.<\/p>\n

\u00a0U.S. Sens. Heidi Heitkamp and Senator John Hoeven both voted for the bill when it passed in the Senate in January.<\/p>\n

The Canadian government has accused a U.S. federal agency of a dishonest intervention in the Keystone XL pipeline debate, voicing its displeasure in a combative diplomatic letter.

DUNSEITH, N.D. (AP) – Workers at the Benchmark Electronics plant in Dunseith and area officials say they’ve been notified by the company that the factory will close by the end of the year.

The school is going to pay a buyout of $200,000.<\/p>\n

\u00a0CANTON, Ohio (AP) – The Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers will open the 2015 NFL preseason in the Hall of Fame game. The August 9th game will be televised by NBC. The teams will close out the enshrinement weekend a day after two of their former players will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. Jerome Bettis and Mick Tingelhoff are among the eight-man class recently elected to the Hall.<\/p>\n

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Naismith Hall of Fame coach Jerry Tarkanian has died at 84, two days after he was hospitalized with an infection and breathing difficulties. The towel-chewing Tarkanian won the 1990 NCAA championship with UNLV, took the Runnin’ Rebels to four Final Fours and was 509-105 in 19 seasons at the school. He also had great success at Fresno State but was constantly at odds with the NCAA during his 31 years as a Division I head coach.<\/p>\n

\u00a0PEBBLE BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Tiger Woods says his golf is not acceptable for the PGA Tour and he will not return until it is. He says on his website that he wants to play the Honda Classic that starts Feb. 26, but he won’t if he’s not tournament-ready. He was playing poorly at Torrey Pines last week when he withdrew after 11 holes because of tightness in his back, although he says the injury is not related to the back surgery he had last spring.<\/p>\n

But the plan is full of potential pitfalls. In announcing the deal, Russia and Ukraine disagreed over the status of a key town under rebel siege and whether rebel groups will be given autonomy.

The third colleague was deported two weeks ago. The three were initially sentenced to at least seven years in prison before a retrial was ordered.
