(AP) &#8211; Authorities say no foul play is suspected in a fire that displaced residents of an apartment building in Harvey. The Harvey Police Department says nine of the building&#8217;s 11 units were occupied when the blaze began last week. Police say 16 people have been displaced from their homes.<\/p>\n<p>The American Red Cross reports that volunteers across North Dakota are assisting to open a service center in Harvey, North Dakota to aid families displaced by a Thursday afternoon apartment fire.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers from Jamestown, Minot, and Fargo, were on their way to the acene Friday morning, to meet immediate needs.<\/p>\n<p>They provided seasonal clothing, shoes, toiletry items and toys for children.<\/p>\n<p>Wells County Emergency Management was also assisting in recovery needs and plans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police is warning residents regarding two convicted sex offenders who have changed addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Jacob Lee Graham is a 26 year old white male, 5\u201911\u2033 tall weighing 172 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n<p>He currently has no vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>He now resides at 223 1st Ave South Apt#4 in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakot Risk Level Committee, of the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>His offense is listed as indecent exposure, stemming from exposing himself to a five year old male family friend.<\/p>\n<p>He was convicted in April of 2004 in Kidder Count.\u00a0 Disposition: \u00a0remanded to the Mesabi Academy treatment facility.<\/p>\n<p>Graham is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. He was convicted in July of 2014 in Stutsman County District Court.<\/p>\n<p>Disposition: one year, one day, with 239 days suspended with credit for time served, 127 days\u20265 years supervised probation.<\/p>\n<p>Smith is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation.<\/p>\n<p>Smith is on GPS monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>Smith is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. No people were hurt, but one of the family&#8217;s dogs died in the fire. (AP) &#8211; U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp (HYT&#8217;-kamp) is urging the federal government to offer training for train derailments to first responders. The Minot Daily News reports Heitkamp has reintroduced the RESPONSE Act, which would work to ensure local firefighters and other emergency crews know how to handle an emergency caused by a train derailment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota college presidents are worried about the impacts of the higher education budget approved by the state House, but lawmakers in both chambers say it&#8217;s a work in progress.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The presidents say the bill has less money than the governor&#8217;s proposal and changes a well-researched funding formula they believe was fair to all schools.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Opponents of the new formula say it hurts, among other things, schools with students who may need additional math and English classes and could eventually lead colleges to turn away people who are needed in the workforce. (AP) &#8211; An upright piano at the Minot Air Force Base that is more than a century old is being auctioned.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Chickering and Sons piano was made between 1905 and 1910 and is currently at a storage facility at the base. The piano&#8217;s sale is being coordinated by Government Liquidation, which handles military surplus auctions.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pianos manufactured by Chickering and Sons during the time that the piano at auction was completed were made of rosewood and mahogany imported from South America. (AP) &#8211; College professors are being invited to the North Dakota oil patch for a two-day tour.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Lignite Energy Council and North Dakota Petroleum Council are hosting the energy tour on Aug. 5-6. It will be limited to 30 professors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The first day will focus on the oil industry and will include tours of a refinery and a man camp. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota woman has earned her GED more than 50 years after dropping out of high school to help in her family&#8217;s farm.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0Katherine Schuler left school when she was in 10th grade in 1959. She spent the next 50 years raising four children and working various jobs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Schuler says she drew inspiration from her 14 grandchildren and reached out to the adult learning center at Lake Region State College last October to start studying for the GED.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She passed the reading and social studies tests quickly, and last month, she passed the math test.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 April Duchscher with the school&#8217;s adult learning center says Schuler is a role model for the community.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Schuler says she wanted her grandchildren to see how much she wanted an education.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Bismarck officials are reminding residents that the toilet is not a trash can.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the city is experiencing an increase in wastewater pump station malfunctions. They say crews are regularly unclogging mounds of rags and wipes from pumps at a considerable expense.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say residents shouldn&#8217;t flush wipes because they can damage the city&#8217;s sewer system and may cause basement sewer backups.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Increasingly popular bathroom wipes that are often advertised as flushable are being blamed for creating clogs and backups in sewer systems around the nation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wastewater authorities nationwide say wipes may go down the toilet, but even many labeled flushable aren&#8217;t breaking down as they course through the sewer system.
