Fossils in that area are 65 million to 70 million years old, in the Late Cretaceous period.

Curator, Wes Anderson says unless the museum can raise $1.4 million to buy Bob from the people who excavated and preserved him, Bob will be leaving the museum. He points out that most dinosaur skeletons in museums are replica castings or assemblages of fossils from several animals.

Hell Creek Relics, is operated by Alan Komrosky of Valley City.

He says, it took 11 years and 21,000 man-hours of painstaking work to free Bob from the rock where his bones were found in 2003, plus a steel frame had to be built to mount the skeleton.

Bob’s price tag is $1.4 million.

The investors want their cash including the owners of the land where Bob was found and Komrosky has to get money to get back into the field and search for more fossils.

Bob can be seen on the Hell Creek Relics website www.hellcreekrelicsvc.com

Jamestown (CSi) The 37th annual Runnin O’ the Green in 2015,Saturday, Saturday had 2,100 participants.

Larry Knoblich says the number is down a bit from the 2,300 particpants in 2012, adding that this year enough donations were raised to make a contribution to the Elks, Camp Grassick. and help 15 to 20 cancer patients.

The final numbers are being tallied.

Besides the participants other donations came from non-participants, and other included the Individuals Motorcycle Club givning Knoblich a $1,500 check. (AP) – The North Dakota Legislature has passed a bill to exempt pork and dairy operations from the state’s eight-decades-old anti-corporate farming law.

North Dakota’s House approved the measure 56-37 on Monday. The measure was already approved by the Senate.

The so-called “ham-and-cheese” bill is one of the most contentious non-oil related bills considered by lawmakers this session.

Supporters say it’s intended to revitalize dairy and swine farms after years of decline. Opponents believe the anti-corporate farming law blocks unfair competition from big, out-of-state corporations.

Federal agriculture data show the number of dairy farms in North Dakota has decreased from about 350 in 2002 to 91.

Data show swine numbers have also declined from about 280,000 in 1995 to about 139,000 in 2014.

BISMARCK, N.D. But legislation to create such commissions was soundly defeated by the Legislature in the past two sessions.

Mock’s resolution that was killed Monday would have let voters decide whether the state Constitution should be changed to form an ethics panel.

Opponents have argued that an ethics commission isn’t required because the Legislature already follows high standards of conduct.

Update…

FARGO, N.D. Information on the nature of her medical emergency was not immediately available.

Airport Manager Shawn Dobberstein says the plane was unable to continue to Chicago because all of its onboard medical oxygen had been used to treat the woman. More than 150 passengers were stranded for hours while they waited for another United plane sent to pick them up.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A company that for years has been planning a wind turbine farm in southeastern North Dakota is now proposing significant changes.

The Merricourt Wind Power Project in McIntosh and Dickey counties was to have up to 100 1.5 megawatt turbines. EDF Renewable Energy is now proposing 75 2-megawatt turbines. It would reduce the project area by half.

The state Public Service Commission needs to approve the change. The PSC is holding a Thursday hearing in Ashley.

EDF Renewable Energy says the newer, larger turbines are better technology. But officials also hope the move would help reduce the potential impact on two endangered species of birds.

The proposed wind farm area is on the edge of the whooping crane migration corridor, and habitat in the area is suited to piping plovers.

BISMARCK, N.D.
