News Jul 18, 2012) &#8212; The North Dakota Highway Patrol has received the results of a blood sample taken from Wyatt Klein of Jamestown. The report, provided by the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Crime Laboratory, revealed that Klein\u2019s blood alcohol was 0.25, over three times higher than the legal limit of .08.<\/p>\n<p>On July 6, Klein was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-94 near Crystal Springs and struck a vehicle head-on. This vehicle was driven by Aaron Deutscher of West Fargo. Deutscher, his wife Allison and daughter Brielle were killed as a result of the crash. Klein also died in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Highway Patrol says, fifty-one percent of all 2012 North Dakota fatal crashes have been attributed to alcohol. The Patrol says, all alcohol-related crashes and fatalities are preventable.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s taxable sales and purchases<\/p>\n<p>shot up 52 percent during January, February and March when compared<\/p>\n<p>to the same three months a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota&#8217;s Tax Department says the state recorded $5.3<\/p>\n<p>billion in taxable sales and purchases during the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Cory Fong says taxable sales and purchases almost<\/p>\n<p>doubled over last year in the oil and mining sector alone.<\/p>\n<p>Construction went up 113 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Fong says almost all of North Dakota&#8217;s economic sectors are<\/p>\n<p>growing.<\/p>\n<p>Fong says of North Dakota&#8217;s largest cities, 40 of them showed<\/p>\n<p>double- or triple-digit percentage growth during the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota already has one of the nation&#8217;s lowest unemployment<\/p>\n<p>rates. News Jul 18, 2012) \u2014 The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reports, statewide boardings for the month of June set another record and are up 15% from last year.<\/p>\n<p>Director Larry Taborski says, \u201cthis comes with no surprise as North Dakota has been continually breaking monthly airline boarding records for almost two straight years.<\/p>\n<p>Our travelers are varied \u2013 coming from and going to all sorts of places. (AP) &#8211; A Fargo woman is accused of exposing her<br \/>\n1-year-old child to methamphetamine.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A police report says Amber Marie Helps was keeping the child in<br \/>\na filthy apartment with rotting food and sacks of garbage.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tests on the youngster&#8217;s hair showed both she and Helps had been<br \/>\nexposed to meth.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Helps has been charged with child neglect and abuse. The<br \/>\nfelony charge carries a possible five-year prison term.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The police report says Helps&#8217; apartment also had exposed<br \/>\nelectrical wires that would be dangerous to a curious child.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Bismarck police cited two teenage boys for breaking into a vehicle after one of the boys&#8217; mother turned in a handgun she found in her son&#8217;s dresser.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say a woman brought a handgun to the police department Tuesday night.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The woman&#8217;s 13-year-old son told officers that he and a 14-year-old boy saw the gun in a center console of an unlocked vehicle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the boys contradicted each other on who actually took the gun.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the gun had not been reported stolen, and officers have not found its owner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ROLLA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The family of a 6-year-old Rolla boy say they&#8217;re angry about a prosecutor&#8217;s handling of a case involving the child.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The family says the boy was sexually assaulted. An attorney for Aaron LaVallie (lah-VAL&#8217;-ee) of Rolla denies that, and says the family is vindictive and &#8220;berserk.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney Lynn Boughey (BOO&#8217;-ee) says LaVallie pleaded guilty to child neglect and abuse as part of a plea agreement with Rolette County State&#8217;s Attorney Lisa Gibbens.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Boughey says LaVallie admitted to using drugs in front of the boy, but LaVallie insists there was no sexual assault.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LaVallie was given a suspended sentence last week and sentenced to probation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The boy&#8217;s family wants the Rolette County Commission to ask the governor to oust Gibbens from office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Supreme Court has ordered a<br \/>\nMilnor attorney suspended for practicing law for three years.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Trent Mahler must pay $2,500 in restitution to two clients and<br \/>\n$500 in disciplinary expenses.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mahler&#8217;s suspension begins Aug. 15. He already doesn&#8217;t have a<br \/>\nlaw license, because he was late in taking continued legal<br \/>\neducation classes.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Supreme Court&#8217;s order says Mahler took a payment from a<br \/>\ncouple to represent them in a water drainage dispute.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Records in the case show Mahler didn&#8217;t talk to his clients<br \/>\npromptly and charged the couple a higher hourly rate than he said<br \/>\nhe would.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A disciplinary panel that considered the case recommended that<br \/>\nMahler be disbarred.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Supreme Court&#8217;s order says disbarment would have been too<br \/>\nharsh. But it says a lengthy suspension is warranted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The Bureauof Land Management says its most recent sale of oil and gas leases the Dakotas totaled more than $3.3 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BLM says Serka Services LLC of Vienna, Va., had the highest bid in Tuesday&#8217;s sale: $880,000 for an 80-acre U.S. Forest Service parcel located in North Dakota&#8217;s Billings County.<\/p>\n<p>Serka Services also had the highest per-acre bid of $11,000 for the same parcel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BLM says 112 parcels totaling more than 48,000 acres were offered and all received bids.\u00a0 Nineteen parcels were located in North Dakota and 93 parcels in South Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Competitive oil and gas lease sales are conducted at the BLM&#8217;s Montana state office in Billings. Money from the sales is shared with states and counties. All leases are issued for a 10-year term.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An engineering company that&#8217;s working<br \/>\nwith Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has filed plans to open another Walmart<br \/>\nSupercenter store in west Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City planner Ryan Brooks says the city&#8217;s zoning commission will<br \/>\nconsider the request in August.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wal-Mart wants to build an 181,000-square-foot store on a<br \/>\n19-acre site at Gateway and North 58th Street in Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chamber of Commerce President Barry Wilfarht tells the Grand<br \/>\nForks Herald the area doesn&#8217;t have many retail stores. Israel&#8217;s prime minister says &#8220;all signs point to Iran,&#8221; though he offered no evidence of that. Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli will &#8220;react strongly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Iran, in the past, has accused Israel of being behind deadly attacks on Iranian nuclear scientists.
