(AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Senate has killed legislation that would allow concealed-carry permit holders to pack guns at schools, if officials allow it.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Senate voted 28-17 on Friday to defeat the measure. The House passed the bill 67-26 last month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Education officials opposed the measure. They say teachers should not take on the role of law enforcement.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The proposal would require someone who wants to carry a gun in school to undergo training with local law enforcement. It also would require a psychological evaluation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A similar measure that would allow teachers and other school officials to carry guns at school failed two years ago in the Legislature.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supporters say the bill was aimed at rural schools where it may take law enforcement a long time to respond.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
