Sheldon Mohr says six units of the City Fire Department and 20 fire fighters were on the scene for about two hours.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was also called to the scene to provide more water to the Jamestown Fire Department due to the lack of fire hydrants.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries reported.<\/p>\n<p>The cause was officially listed as undetermined.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police\u00a0is asking the public for any information in connection with \u00a0items\u00a0reported stolen Friday last \u00a0afternoon from three cars belonging to members of the Jamestown High School track team.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Robert Opp says, between $3,000 and $4,000 worth of items were taken, including musical instruments, cellphones and tablet computers, while running the White Cloud trail as part of track practice, as the students left their unlocked\u00a0cars parked near the North Dakota State Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation is continuing. If anyone \u00a0has information they \u00a0are asked to call\u00a0Jamestown Police\u00a0 at 701-252-1000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Advisory Board, met Friday at the CSi Technology Center at Historic Franklin School.<\/p>\n<p>The Board reviewed grant requests from Jamestown Drag Racing, and James River Rodeo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/rodeo-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"rodeo photo\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/rodeo-photo.jpg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" \/><\/a>The board unanimously approved the James River Rodeo grant request in the amount of $3,500 to promote the annual event, at the Stutsman County Fairground.\u00a0 Spokesman Marlyn Bertich said grant fund will be used \u00a0in the areas of programs, advertising and the sound system, during the Stutsman County Fair, July 4,5, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Other major funding sources were listed as ad sales for $18,000 and gate sales of $6,000 to $7,000, with the total cost of the program at $60,000.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that rodeo attendees spend at least one night at Jamestown motels, and eat at local restaurants. Last year there were 760 contestants competing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/drag1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"JDRA photo\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/drag1-300x205.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>JDRA photo<\/p>\n<p>The board also unanimously approved the request from Jamestown Drag Racing Association, in conjunction with this year\u2019s drag races at Jamestown Regional Airport to be held July 18,19, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The request is for $6,000 for advertising expenses and $1,500 for a computer upgrade for the timing system.<\/p>\n<p>Other sources for funding include: local business sponsors for poster ads, in the amount of $13,093, gate admission fees are estimated at $8,607, and racer entry fees at $11,345 with the total program cost of $39,000.<\/p>\n<p>JDRA Race Director, Glen Christianson said th Drag Racing Association is applying for a non-profit status to raise funds, to establish their own drag strip outside city limits. \u00a0A committee evaluating locations has contacted the Buffalo City Gun Club, the Off-Roaders Club, Moto-Cross, City Pistol Range, and the Rodeo Club, asking for their opinion. All clubs have come on board with JDRA with pursuing a location, indicating that a drag strip there would benefit everyone in that location.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset of the meeting, it was noted that Jamestown Tourism\u2019s, Office Manager\/Digital Marketing Strategist, Cassie Theuer has resigned, after five years in the position, accepting a position with Lord of Life Church in Bismarck, with the children and music ministries.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that the past two years in tourism has been \u201cexciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund pointed out that Cassie\u2019s job description consists of a 37 page manual, adding that it is no small task to handle her responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Cassie brought creativity to the position, and brought systems together, including the digital component.<\/p>\n<p>Board member Beth Dewald said that Cassie handled the transition well when former Tourism Director, Nina Sneider retired, and Swedlund became Tourism Director.<\/p>\n<p>Board Chairperson, Mitzi Hager said Cassie was knowledgable in her position.<\/p>\n<p>All board members in attendance said that she will be missed.<\/p>\n<p>The board presented Cassie with a clock, with the inscription, \u201cIn Recognition of Five Years of Service.\u201d\u00a0 The board also gave her a gift certificate to a Bismarck restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Finance and Legal Committee will review for recommendation, the date and time for a Special Election asking voters if they want to approve a one percent City Sales Tax to support the proposed construction and operation of the Two Rivers Athletic center for June 2, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>To set the polling place at the Jamestown Civic Center with polling hours to be from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM<\/p>\n<p>To set the polling place for early voting and absentee voting at the Stutsman County Courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>To set April 17, 2015, as the date that absentee voting begins<\/p>\n<p>To set May 18, 2015, to June 1<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">st<\/span>, 2015, as early voting dates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday<\/p>\n<p>To set June 8, 2015, at 11:00 AM, for the City Council to meet in Special Session as the Canvassing<\/p>\n<p>Board to certify the results of the June 2, 2015, Special Election.<\/p>\n<p>The election will be conducted by Stutsman County officials.<\/p>\n<p>To pass, a simple majority of yes votes would be needed.<\/p>\n<p>If approved by city voters, the one percent city sales tax would be in place until the debt associated with the Two Rivers Activity Center is retired or until June 30, 2035, whichever comes first.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the Two Rivers Activity Center, visit<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tracjamestown.org\/\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">www.tracjamestown.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: large;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Barnes County Sheriff, Randy McClaflin informs residents that several people have reported that the IRS phone scam has occurred in Barnes County.<\/p>\n<p>McClaflin says the scam artist is threatening and attempts to gain personal financial information using the threats.<\/p>\n<p>McClaflin said the IRS does not operate this way and this is a scam. displayed on their incoming calls from the scam artist is 1-866-438-0207.<\/p>\n<p>McClaflin adds the best advice to people is to\u00a0 hang up immediately if someone claims to be from the IRS.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has also reminded North Dakota residents that the IRS does not notify people of a potential problem by leaving a threatening phone message.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man who authorities suspect created and cashed fake checks is now in custody.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The 47-year-old Bismarck man was arrested after authorities searched for him for two weeks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck Police began looking for the man after he handed a fake check to a drive-thru bank teller of Northland Financial. The teller became suspicious of the check, and as the teller was trying to figure out whether the check was authentic, the man drove away, leaving the fake check and his ID behind.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man, who has not been formally charged, is also accused of driving a stolen vehicle. He is being held at the Burleigh County Detention Center.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man&#8217;s wife, who authorities accuse of harboring a criminal, is also in custody.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0RICHARDTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say one person was killed and two others were injured following a crash on Interstate 94 near Richardton.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota State Highway Patrol says a 21-year-old man from Duncanville, Texas, was driving east on the highway early Sunday morning when his vehicle rear-ended a semitrailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His passengers, a 19-year-old Florida man and a 20-year-old Oregon man, were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions were immediately known early Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says two additional crashes, including a rollover, were caused by the initial accident. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota House is considering legislation that would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation in housing, government, public services and the workplace.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Testimony is being taken on the bill Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Senate passed the bill last month despite the fact that it received a do-not-pass recommendation in committee.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exemptions for religious organizations and social clubs are in the bill.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Similar legislation failed during the 2009 and 2013 sessions.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The superintendent of the North Dakota Highway Patrol says the agency has not implemented traffic citation quotas for troopers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nA recent email from a patrol captain lists &#8220;2015 goal numbers&#8221; for troopers. For example, troopers in Fargo have a goal of 14 driving under the influence arrests and 240 speeding warnings or citations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Col. Michael Gerhart says the numbers are goals and not quotas &#8211; in other words, priorities but not requirements. (AP) &#8211; A man is accused of using force and threats in a sexual assault on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jason Meyers is charged in federal court with three counts, including aggravated sexual abuse by threat of death or serious bodily injury. He has pleaded not guilty.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Meyers also threatened the victim about reporting the Dec. 10 incident.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meyers was arrested last month in Montana. (AP) &#8211; Two more mule deer have tested positive for chronic wasting disease in North Dakota, bringing the total since 2009 to seven.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Game and Fish Department says the latest positive tests were in deer killed during last fall&#8217;s gun season.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All of the deer that have tested positive for CWD in recent years have been in the 3F2 hunting unit in southwestern North Dakota. Game and Fish Wildlife Veterinarian Dan Grove says having two more deer from that area test positive is not surprising. And he says the number of positive tests remains low.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Game and Fish began monitoring for CWD in 2002. Since then, more than 25,000 deer, elk and moose have tested negative for the fatal disease that affects the nervous system of members of the deer family.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000\u00a0DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The Devils Lake City Commission has committed up to $100,000 to improve fishing access to Devils Lake.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nImprovements will be made at the Channel A, Henegar Landing and East Ditch recreation areas. The upgrades will range from boat ramp work to parking lots to playground equipment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city also will provide several thousands of dollars&#8217; worth of in-kind work for the projects.
