Zaun, was driving a 2004 Hyundai west on main and failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed into a sign pole.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Thompson says an off duty EMT employee helped get Zaun out of the vehicle that caught fire. He was transported to CHI Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police officers and Valley City firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Zaun was arrested and is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs and minor in possession of alcohol by consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with details of this incident should call the Valley City police department at 845-3110.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown theatre director Mike McIntyre has announced an upcoming production of &#8220;Twelfth Night&#8221; to be performed April 16<sup>th<\/sup>, 17<sup>th<\/sup>, and 18<sup>th<\/sup> at 7:30 p.m. in Reiland\u2019s Denault Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSI Cable 2 McIntyre said, Twelfth Night is a Shakespeare comedy centering on a shipwreck where one half a set of twins survives. Viola, the surviving twin, disguises herself as her brother and becomes a servant to Count Orsino who sends her to woo Olivia for his sake. Olivia falls in love with the disguised Viola and Viola falls in love with Orsino. (AP) &#8211; Legislation is headed to Gov. Jack Dalrymple&#8217;s desk that expands the places where a concealed-carry permit holder can have a gun.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bill would allow concealed-carry permit holders to pack guns at public parks, political rallies, concerts and highway rest stops.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The House approved the legislation Thursday. Senators approved the measure on Tuesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The measure also allows hunters to use legally owned short-barreled rifles for hunting. The bill also allows concealed-carry permit holders to have a gun in liquor stores.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bill also allows people to carry a single-shot electronic stun gun without having to obtain a concealed-carry permit.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Representatives also endorsed Senate amendments to a separate House bill that allows college students and university employees to keep firearms in locked vehicles on campus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 63-year-old tradition of barn dances near a small town in southeastern North Dakota will continue, under new ownership.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Julie and Delon Cahoon, of rural Casselton, bought the property that includes Johnson&#8217;s Barn, which has been a popular Friday night hangout since the first dance in 1952. They were originally shopping for a home for cows and wound up with the iconic dance barn.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Cahoons say they were convinced to keep the dances going after attending three dances at the barn near Arthur, about 35 miles northwest of Fargo. They say the atmosphere was electric and the dancers put on a great show.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The only change so far is the name, to Arthur&#8217;s Barn. The Cahoons will host their first dance on Friday night, featuring the band Jacked Up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Williston man who authorities say got caught trying to steal a $14 pair of shoes at a Wal-Mart store is facing a dozen charges that could land him in prison for more than 50 years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-eight-year-old William Jessop was arrested earlier this week. Authorities allege that he hit a store employee in the face with the shoes, head-butted an officer and kicked him in the face, and struck another officer in the face.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJessop allegedly threw a bag of oranges and knocked over a shelf of bread as he tried to flee from officers, then allegedly threatened an officer after finally being taken into custody.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents do not list an attorney for Jessop.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0CENTER, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two Center residents accused of child sex crimes will be prosecuted in federal court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0State charges have been dismissed against the suspects, and sexual exploitation and child pornography charges have been filed in federal court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 34-year-old man is accused of taking photos of the minor while she was engaged in a sex act in the shower with a 22-year-old woman, and sharing the photos on the Internet. He&#8217;s also accused of having sex with the minor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State and federal agents also allege they found computers in the home with pictures and videos of child porn.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Associated Press does not identify possible victims of sexual abuse, nor does it name suspects if by doing so the possible victim might be identified.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former correctional officer in Devils Lake accused of having sexual contact with an inmate has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge under a plea agreement with prosecutors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jonathan Defoe faced a felony sexual assault charge in connection with the alleged incident with a female inmate at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center last July. He could have faced up to five years in prison if convicted of that charge.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show that Defoe this week pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor sexual assault charge. If a judge agrees, he will be sentenced to serve 10 days at a halfway house, pay a $250 fine and spend two years on unsupervised probation. He will be given credit for one day already served in custody.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota regulators have approved siting permits for two small pipeline projects in McKenzie County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hiland Crude plans a 13-mile crude oil pipeline, and Caliber Midstream Partners plans a 4.4-mile liquid natural gas pipeline.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Public Service Commission says the pipelines will be valuable pieces of infrastructure in the western oil patch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The Williams County Commission has narrowly approved a proposed $500 million development on the outskirts of Williston, after debate about the chosen location.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williston Crossing project proposed by the international real estate company Stropiq is to include more than 1 million square feet of retail, entertainment, office and hotel space.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission this week voted 3-2 to approve the project. (AP) &#8211; Civil rights leaders want police in North Charleston, South Carolina, to create a citizens review board to look at complaints of brutality and bad behavior by police. NAACP leaders held a news conference today in the community where a white police officer was charged with murder after he was recorded shooting an unarmed black man in the back. North Charleston, like many other agencies, currently uses its own police officers to conduct internal investigations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) &#8211; Nearly all of the 82 municipal courts in St. Louis County, Missouri, have agreed to a uniform standard for fines and court costs. In doing so, they addressed concerns that some courts in the region prey on the poor and minorities. The agreement was announced by the head of a committee that was formed after the unrest in Ferguson, which followed the fatal August shooting of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson.
