Zaun, was driving a 2004 Hyundai west on main and failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed into a sign pole.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Thompson says an off duty EMT employee helped get Zaun out of the vehicle that caught fire. He was transported to CHI Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police officers and Valley City firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Zaun was arrested and is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs and minor in possession of alcohol by consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The crash remains under investigation.
