LOWS AROUND 40.<br \/>\n\u00a0.SUNDAY&#8230;MOSTLY SUNNY WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS.<br \/>\n\u00a0HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50S.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) &#8211; Friday afternoon, April 10, a rural fire was reported east of the airport, \u00a0north of 34th St SE (old number 10) and east of 87 Ave SE. \u00a0 Stutsman County is currently under a<a title=\"burn ban\" href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=69641\" target=\"_blank\"> burn ban<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Units from the Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded. \u00a0 More details after report filed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a semitrailer fire Saturday before 5-a.m., \u00a0on I- 94, 13 miles west of Valley City\u00a0 damaged some of the truck\u2019s cargo, and burn some land.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0report says 42 year old \u00a0David Manwiller, of \u00a0Bismarck, was driving the Magnum LTD truck from Fargo to Bismarck while pulling two enclosed cargo trailers.\u00a0 He sensed the truck was not operating properly, then slowed and drove onto the shoulder of the road.\u00a0 Smoke was observed at the rear axle area of the second trailer.\u00a0 Manwiller attempted to extinguish the fire but was unable to contain it as it quickly consumed the trailer and freight.<\/p>\n<p>Manwiller was able to disconnect the truck and lead trailer containing general freight and 4,500 pounds of batteries , saving them from damage.\u00a0 The second trailer, all general freight cargo and approximately one acre of ditch and pasture along the north side of the interstate was consumed by fire.<\/p>\n<p>Manwiller was not injured. \u00a0Westbound traffic on I-94 was diverted around the scene for 1 1\/2 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Department and Sanborn Fire Department also responded to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Crystal Springs (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a single vehicle accident Friday morning about 11:20 a.m., injured a Dickinson man.<\/p>\n<p>The Neon driven by 18 year old David\u00a0Myran was eastbound on the left lane of I-94 near Crystal Springs\u00a0at 75 miles per hour with cruise control in use.\u00a0 Myran directed his attention away\u00a0 from the roadway to an energy drink in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The Neon drifted into the median. Myran attempted to correct the vehicle by steering to the right. The vehicle returned to the eastbound lanes but continued to slide out of control. It re-entered the median, rolled and came to rest across both westbound lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic was directed around the vehicle until it was removed.<\/p>\n<p>The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol was assisted \u00a0by Tappen Fire &amp; Rescue, Steele Fire &amp; Rescue, and Medina Ambulance which transported Myran to a Bismarck hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Frontier Village Association Board of Directors has approved booking\u00a0in the summer of 2016, \u00a0the comedy team of <a title=\"Williams and Ree\" href=\"http:\/\/williamsandree.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Williams and Ree<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 for \u00a0two fundraising performances at <strong><a title=\"Frontier Village Photos Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.10151750909499512.1073741848.358562219511&amp;type=1&amp;l=f501ee41a7\" target=\"_blank\">Frontier Village<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The comics are scheduled to perform August 13, <strong>2016 <\/strong>at the amphitheater. \u00a0Video clip from <a title=\"Williams and Ree\" href=\"http:\/\/williamsandree.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">WilliamsAndRee.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The board authorized\u00a0Frontier Village\u00a0Manager Nichole Mosolf to pay a $1,000 date reservation plus $10,000 to the duo in addition to accommodations and local transportation.<\/p>\n<p>FVB President,\u00a0 Charlie Tanata says parking is\u00a0an issue\u00a0in holding the performances at the amphitheater, noting that there\u00a0is a parking area next to the amphitheater and the parking lot of the National Buffalo Museum could also be used.<\/p>\n<p>Board member Tina Busche \u00a0noted \u00a0parking at Frontier Village, and the possibility of\u00a0 shuttle parking.<\/p>\n<p>Board Vice President, Jay Diemert, board\u00a0says securing an alternate performance site in case of bad weather was a bigger problem, and that the Civic Center is an alternate location<\/p>\n<p>Tanata\u00a0also suggested talking to \u00a0Jamestown Public Schools and the University of Jamestown to\u00a0determine \u00a0if either the Jamestown High School auditorium or DeNault Auditorium\u00a0 might be used\u00a0as a backup.<\/p>\n<p>Mosolf\u00a0pointed out that \u00a0to break even on the event, the Association\u00a0needs to sell 500 tickets at $20 a ticket. The amphitheater has benches that can\u00a0accommodate 250, plus\u00a0the \u00a0hillside for another 200 or so people.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the board voted to approve\u00a0changing \u00a0its meeting time starting in June to 4 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.<\/p>\n<p>It was announced that the board\u00a0will meet at 5:30 p.m.\u00a0for the\u00a0May 14th \u00a0meeting as requested by farrier Kevin Fettig of Fargo, \u00a0to\u00a0discuss\u00a0 the cost of\u00a0\u00a0making \u00a0the blacksmith shop in the village a working blacksmith shop.<\/p>\n<p>The Board approved\u00a0 the Wild West Players holding a raffle during a street dance at the Frontier Village on August 14th, with the proceeds benefiting the horse shelter in the village. Tickets\u00a0at\u00a0 $5 with a first place prize of $250, second place is $150 and third place is $100.<\/p>\n<p>Mosolf and Busche will be \u00a0going through a doll collection donated to the Frontier Village by the James River Eagles Club and sell the dolls they think are sellable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck (CSi) the National Weather Service has scheduled a SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Class at 7 p.m. Monday April 13, 2015, at the Medina Fire Hall, 107 College St. SE in Medina.<\/p>\n<p>The class will be conducted by John Paul Martin, warning coordination meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Bismarck. The class, which lasts about two hours, will focus on recognizing and understanding the different types of severe summer weather such as thunderstorms, downburst winds, flash floods, hail, and tornadoes. The class is free and open to all organizations and individuals who want to become more familiar with how to identify severe summer weather.<\/p>\n<p>Attending this class does not require an individual to become an official National Weather Service weather spotter. People who have previously attended this class are encouraged to attend again.<\/p>\n<p>For more information. contact the Stutsman County Emergency Manager\u2019s Office at 252-9093.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society reports that about $400 was raised in the annual Poker Tournament in March.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Humane Society President, Matt Opsahl said another fund raiser is set for June 6, 2015 at Applebee\u2019s in Jamestown, from 8-a.m., to 10-a.m.\u00a0 Tickets are $6 and available at the James River Humane Society, or at the door.<\/p>\n<p>At the shelter there are a total of 19 cats, and 13 dogs available for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>As of Friday, Opsahl said three dogs were at large in Jamestown, stressing that the dogs should NOT be approached, as they are scared.<\/p>\n<p>They are: a German Sheppard\/Basset Hound mix, and two Shar Pai\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>Anyone seeing the dogs may either call the shelter at 252-0747, or the LEC dispatch at 252-1000.<\/p>\n<p>Opsahl added that volunteers are always welcome, and to call the James River Humane Society at 701-252-0747.<\/p>\n<p>The shelter is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit, with the hours 9-a.m., to noon, and 5:30-6:30-p.m., seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p>Drop boxes for the animals is available at Hugo\u2019s, with the need also including cleaning supplies.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown, this summer will host the the 131st Annual North Dakota Firefighters Convention, June 4-6.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters from rural areas across the state will be in Jamestown for the activities, which will include, a golf tournament, bike run, and a memorial service feature the Aberdeen Pipes and Drum Corps.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director Renee Loh, says the event allows firefighters an opportunity to work as a group.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>MAPLE VALLEY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Residents of the Maple Valley School District in southeastern North Dakota are deciding for the second time in four months whether to build a new high school.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An election is scheduled Tuesday on a $10.3 million bond measure.\u00a0\u00a0If\u00a0 it&#8217;s approved, the school district will build a new high school in Tower City and turn the existing one into an elementary school.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The measure was narrowly defeated in a January election. Fifty-eight percent of voters supported it, but 60 percent approval is required.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Three North Dakota organizations will split nearly $15,000 to help people with autism spectrum disorders and their families.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Department of Human Services&#8217; Autism Services Division awarded $14,860 in small community education and training grants to Development Homes Inc. in Grand Forks, the North Dakota Autism Center in West Fargo and Family Voices of North Dakota in Edgeley.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applications will be taken until June 1 for autism-specific education and training for service providers, parents, and first responders, peer-to-peer education and related activities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; No people were hurt but a pet died in a weekend apartment fire in Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the Saturday afternoon blaze was contained to one apartment. Everyone in the building made it out safety, but a dog in the apartment where the fire started died.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0LINCOLN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have released the name of a 37-year-old Lincoln man killed in a rollover crash while riding an all-terrain vehicle in Billings County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota State Highway Patrol says Seth Elkins was traveling southeast on a road near Medora just before midnight Friday. It says Elkins lost control of the ATV after attempting to negotiate a turn through a nearby gate and into a pasture.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the ATV overturned and came to rest on top of Elkins.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was pronounced dead at the scene.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Legislature is headed down the session&#8217;s home stretch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But lawmakers first must find consensus on a host of spending plans and other last-minute measures before the state constitution&#8217;s 80-day limit is imposed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monday is Day 66.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota&#8217;s House and Senate have worked through several contentious measures this session, including expanding places where concealed-carry permit holders can pack heat. Lawmakers also have shot down a bill that would have prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature also has hammered through some seemingly lesser legislation like rejecting a measure that would have given North Dakotans a nine-day head start over nonresidents to trap muskrats.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Both chambers still have dozen measures to work through, including all remaining two-year budget bills for state agencies, programs and the Legislature itself.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A judge says a 69-year-old man convicted of running an illegal bookmaking operation in North Dakota must serve an additional four months in prison on top of a current sentence he is serving in Minnesota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gerald Greenfield, of Bloomington, Minnesota, pleaded guilty in January to interstate transmittal of wagering information and conspiracy to commit money laundering.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Greenfield is serving a 68-month prison term in Minnesota, including 50 months on money laundering conviction and 18 months because he walked away from a federal prison camp in Duluth.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors asked that Greenfield receive an additional 27 months on the North Dakota charges. Greenfield&#8217;s lawyer said the Minnesota sentence should be sufficient.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson tacked on an additional four months and ordered Greenfield to pay back $250,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Swiss-based company planning a $500 million development on Williston&#8217;s outskirts likely will need to get a building permit from the city rather than the county.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 city has notified Williams County that it plans to exercise its 1-mile extraterritorial jurisdiction. That means the Williston Crossing project proposed by the international real estate company Stropiq will fall under city jurisdiction.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Williston Mayor Howard Klug earlier said he wished Stropiq would have chosen a site within city limits for its project. But he says the move to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction isn&#8217;t aimed at just that project.
