Tower City (CSi)\u00a0 For a second time, Maple Valley School District voters have defeated a school bond issue in\u00a0the\u00a0Special Election.<\/p>\n
On Monday, \u00a0after counting all absentee ballots, the bond issue failed\u00a0\u00a0with just \u00a059.60 percent in favor of the measure.\u00a0 At least a\u00a060 percent\u00a0was \u00a0needed to pass.\u00a0 800 voters cast ballots, compared to 574 votes in the January Special Election, that failed.<\/p>\n
The canvassed total in the election held April 14, 2015 \u00a0was \u00a0453 yes votes\u00a0 to 307 no votes.<\/p>\n
Seven remaining absentee ballots were opened during the canvasing\u00a0with\u00a0\u00a0three of those\u00a0votes yes\u00a0 and\u00a0four\u00a0 no\u00a0votes. .<\/p>\n
Superintendent Brian Wolf says the election was two votes short of a recount.<\/p>\n
The plan\u00a0included renovating an existing structure in Tower City to bring all students under one roof. \u00a0One school in Buffalo and another in Oriska would have closed if it had passed.<\/p>\n
