Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 A 63 year old\u00a0 Litchville man, Dennis Shape,\u00a0died and his passenger injured\u00a0 about 10:24 am Saturday in a one vehicle accident, \u00a0on Highway 1, about one mile south of I-94, two miles southwest of Valley City.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, while northbound on highway 1, Shape\u00a0suffered an abrupt severe medical condition that caused him to loose control of the Silverado.\u00a0 The vehicle drifted into the east ditch and continued for a few hundred yards before striking a rock pile at the edge of a field.<\/p>\n

Another motorist stopped to help and began CPR.\u00a0 A Trooper arrived to assist with an AED.\u00a0 Ambulance personnel took\u00a0 over medical care a short time later. The 58 year old female passenger\u00a0Diane Shape \u00a0from Litchville\u00a0suffered a minor injury. Both occupants were transported from the scene by Barnes County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital,\u00a0ambulance. The driver was pronounced dead at the Hospital.<\/p>\n

Damage was estimated at $4,000 for the truck.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Valley City and Litchville Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CSi\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 56 year old Jamestown man was injured in a rollover accident about 2:10a.m., Saturday, on Highway 30 two miles south of Streeter.<\/p>\n

The report says Steven Miller was southbound on highway 30 and approached the T intersection at highway 46.\u00a0 Miller failed to stop a the intersection and drove the Pontiac through a traffic sign, across the south ditch, through a fence and into a pasture.<\/p>\n

The vehicle rolled several times. Miller was ejected.\u00a0 Approximately seven hours later, a motorist noticed the crash scene and contacted law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Miller was later flown from Jamestown to a Fargo hospital. \u00a0The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Logan County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Medina Fire and Rescue, Streeter Fire and Rescue, assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a fire involving a Schwans refrigerated truck, located on the west side of Cross Roads Truck Repair.<\/p>\n

Glenn Christianson said the call came in at 3:51 p.m., on Friday.<\/p>\n

No damage estimate was available, or cause of the fire, and no injuries reported.<\/p>\n

Four city fire units and 30 fire fighters cleared the scene at 4:20 pm.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Two officers involved in the March 17, 2015 shooting incident in Southwest Jamestown are back on the job.<\/p>\n

Stutsman County State’s Attorney Fritz Fremgen released a memo he sent on April 12, 2015, to Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger, Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser and special agent Mark Nickel, with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, about the officer-involved shooting.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Police officer and Stutsman County Sheriff’s deputy fired their weapons into a vehicle allegedly driven by a Tracy, Minnesota, man, who had led police agencies on a chase through southwest Jamestown in the early morning hours of March 17th<\/sup><\/p>\n

Fremgen wrote: “After considering whether any charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, or reckless endangerment are warranted, I have determined no charge is warranted for either of those offenses or for any lesser offense.”<\/p>\n

Fremgen did not name the Jamestown police officer and Stutsman County Sheriff’s deputy who fired their weapons.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota BCI also conducted use of force investigations on the Jamestown police officer and the Stutsman County Sheriff’s deputy at the request of those agencies.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota BCI investigated the incident involving 43 year old Lee Charles Ellingson, who allegedly led law enforcement officers from Jamestown Police and the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota Highway Patrol on a chase that started at the Exxon convenience store at 808 20th St. Southewest in Jametown, and ended in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue Southwest, between the Jamestown Motel and Dairy Queen.<\/p>\n

Witness accounts and information from law enforcement agencies, indicated that during the pursuit, Ellingson allegedly rammed law enforcement vehicles. When he stopped on 4th Avenue Southwest, Ellingson allegedly tried to run over a police officer. It was at this time that a Stutsman County Sheriff’s deputy and a Jamestown police officer fired their weapons into the vehicle Ellingson was driving.<\/p>\n

Ellingson was transported by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center after the chase ended for treatment of injuries.<\/p>\n

He was later flown by air ambulance to a medical facility in Fargo. Ellingson’s present medical condition is unknown.<\/p>\n

Ellingson was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and driving while under the influence of liquor or any other drug or substance, all Class C felonies. He is also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class A misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to appear at 1:15 p.m. May 20 in Southeast District Court in Jamestown. An unsecured bond was set at $100,000 on April 2, 2015.<\/p>\n

Cooperstown (CSi) Construction has resumed on the $3.5 million Griggs County Emergency Operations Center.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been almost a year since a contract dispute led to contractors walking off the job.<\/p>\n

Construction Engineers, based in Grand Forks, and subcontractors walked off the job last May over payment delays and contract language issues.<\/p>\n

While crews are working in the Emergency Operations Center portion of the complex.<\/p>\n

The project is estimated to be more than 90 percent complete as work remains quiet in the Griggs County Courthouse section.<\/p>\n

Each party says it’s the other’s responsibility to pay for completing the courthouse part of the project.<\/p>\n

The issue may end up in court.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) \u00a0Two more\u00a0Two Rivers Activity Center community forums will in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) Board of Directors has approved a schedule for the three community forums\/ workshops prior to the June 2, 2015 special election on a one percent city sales tax to fund the project.<\/p>\n

The next forum will be April 27 at the Jamestown Middle School\u2019s Thompson Community Room,<\/strong> followed on May 15 at the North Dakota Farmers Union headquarters. The forums begin at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – A Steele woman is accused of stealing $250,000 from a Linton company and using some of the money to buy a home.<\/p>\n

Police say Michelle Biegler had access to KEM Electric’s bank account information through her position with a Mandan company, and used that information to forge the check. She allegedly took it to a bank in Steele, deposited some of the money in a bank account and used the rest for a home.<\/p>\n

Biegler faces felony charges of forgery or counterfeiting and theft by deception. She could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Court documents do not list an attorney for her, and a home telephone listing for her is disconnected.<\/p>\n

(CSi) \u2013\u00a0 As part of her series of speeches to thank and honor North Dakota\u2019s fallen heroes from the Vietnam War, U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp again took to the Senate floor and discussed these servicemembers\u2019 remarkable lives and contributions to North Dakota and the country.<\/p>\n

“Nearly two hundred North Dakotans gave their lives for our country in Vietnam, fighting on the front lines to not only keep us safe but also for the ideals we hold most dear,” said Heitkamp. “We must always remember that every one of these men has a story as we recognize and honor the selfless sacrifices each made. I\u2019m proud to represent a state with such a rich tradition of military service and with the continued support of students at Bismarck High School, the families of those North Dakotans lost during the Vietnam War, and folks all across our state, we can continue to honor our fallen heroes today and every day.”<\/p>\n

Last month, Heitkamp<\/p>\n

began a series of speeches<\/a> to honor servicemembers from North Dakota who lost their lives in the Vietnam conflict as our country remembers the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the war. Heitkamp is collaborating with more than 150 eleventh-graders from Bismarck High School to gather information on these fallen North Dakotans and will incorporate their research into her speeches. In March, Heitkamp met with these students in Bismarck<\/a> and discussed with them the importance of their joint effort to honor the sacrifice and service of the North Dakotans lost in the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u3000\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Two brothers who used a metal pipe and a bottle to beat a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation a year ago have been sentenced to prison.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jurors earlier this year found Christopher Rainbow and Jordan Rainbow guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The brothers were found not guilty of assault with intent to commit murder.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland recently sentenced Jordan Rainbow to six years in prison and Christopher Rainbow to 15 years behind bars.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Employees at the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck are working to keep out of their facility the deadly virus that has rapidly spread among poultry in the Midwest.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assistant zoo director Rod Fried\u00a0says \u00a0employees have emptied water sources to try to eliminate the number of wild birds that flock to the zoo for food and shelter. He says the zoo would be inviting wild ducks and geese if it had its ponds full.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The H5N2 virus has cost producers more than 7 million turkeys and chickens so far this year. Federal agriculture officials say the deadly strain of bird flu could be a problem for the poultry industry for several years.

\u00a0\u00a0HILLSBORO, N.D. (AP) – Formal charges are pending against the driver of a car hit by a train in Traill County.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The collision happened about 11:30 p.m. Sunday when the car became stuck on the tracks north of Hillsboro.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Ernst tells KFGO radio that the two people in the car were able to escape before it was hit by a BNSF Railway freight train and pushed several hundred feet. A 27-year-old female passenger was taken to a Grand Forks hospital with unspecified injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

(AP) – Some observers say a bill passed this session by the North Dakota Legislature that sets down guidelines for industrial hemp could help create an industry for Indian tribes. The measure sponsored by Republican Representative David Monson allows hemp to be grown through state agriculture departments and college research stations.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Potato stocks in North Dakota are up 14 percent from a year ago.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department says in its latest report that growers, dealers and processors in the state held 7.4 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage on April 1.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota is getting $2.3 million from the federal government this year to dole out as grants to boost the production and processing of crops such as dry peas, lentils, honey and confection sunflowers. The state already is among the nation’s leaders in the production of those crops.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Last year, North Dakota received $3.1 million, thanks to a funding boost that resulted from an emphasis on specialty crops in the new federal farm bill.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference is being held this week in Canada.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The annual event alternates between locations in U.S. and Canada. This year’s conference is Tuesday through Thursday in Regina, Saskatchewan. Last year’s conference drew a record 4,500 people to Bismarck.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The conference enables people in the energy industry to learn about scientific and technological advances. It brings together engineers, geologists, investors, CEOs and government officials for seminars and marketing.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – University of North Dakota President Robert Kelley is planning to participate in a conference of government and educational leaders from the U.S. and Canada.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kelley is traveling to Minneapolis on Monday for the Canada-U.S. round-table at the University of Minnesota. The event will focus on how central and western Canada and the Upper Midwest of the U.S. can become a priority region for higher education partnerships.
