The westbound semi struck the rear of the Sheriff\u2019s pickup. (Photo provided by passing trucker).<\/p>\n<p>The Volvo was traveling westbound on Interstate 94. A deputy with Stutsman County Sheriff&#8217;s Office was conducting traffic control for a vehicle on the shoulder of the road that had burned up.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy was standing outside of the patrol vehicle. The driver of the Volvo truck pulling a trailer, 39 year old Travis Bell, of Belmond, Iowa, failed to move over and began reaching for a water bottle. The Volvo struck the back end of the patrol vehicle and then traveled into the median. The patrol vehicle which had its flashing light on, was totaled.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy was not hurt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The driver of the semitrailer was not hurt. The semitrailer had an estimated $40,000 in damage.<\/p>\n<p>The K-9 in the patrol vehicle &#8220;Dreamos,&#8221; received several cuts and was transported to the vet and will be fine. The crash is is still under investigation by the NDHP.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the van provided a photo showing extensive fire damage to the van.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was extinguished by the Jamestown Rural Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>Eight firefighters and three units responded, \u00a0on scene about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer\u2019s Office is informing residents in the area of 8<sup>th<\/sup> Ave NW &amp; 17<sup>th<\/sup> St NW that the area will experience intermittent water outages throughout the day starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Residents in the area of 9<sup>th<\/sup> Ave SE &amp; 11<sup>th<\/sup> St SE and 12<sup>th<\/sup> Ave SE &amp; 11<sup>th<\/sup> St SE will experience intermittent water outages throughout the day starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on Wednesday, April 29, 2015<\/span> and possibly during the daytime hours on Thursday, April 30, 2015. It is anticipated that the utility repairs will be completed within the two working days in this area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC), Finance Committee is setting guidelines to prevent reporting financial errors.<\/p>\n<p>The JSDC Executive Committee recommended approval of the recent audit to the board of directors which will meet as part of the JSDC annual meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Quality Inn &amp; Suites.<\/p>\n<p>The recent JSDC audit also included its subsidiary Spiritwood Energy Park, and contained, &#8220;material weaknesses&#8221; in the internal financial bookkeeping of the organization, according to Schauer and Associates, Audit Manager, Linda Mohn.<\/p>\n<p>The Spiritwood Energy Park Association (SEPA) Board of Directors also approved the audit at a Special Meeting.<\/p>\n<p>JSDC owns 71 percent of the Energy Park while Great River Energy owns the remaining 29 percent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Public is cordially invited to a celebrationas the Jamestown Kiwanis Club will be giving eight Jamestown Schools a Buddy Bench .<\/p>\n<p>The Buddy Benches are supported locally by the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 4, the Jamestown Kiwanis Club, and is being coordinator by the local FOP Liason, Nellie Degen.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Nellie said, when a student sits on the Buddy Bench , it&#8217;s a signal for other students to approach them , asking them to join play . (AP) &#8211; The jury in the sexual misconduct trial of a former North Dakota teacher of the year will continue to discuss the fate of the educator for a second day Tuesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jurors in Aaron Knodel&#8217;s (kah-NOH&#8217;-dehl&#8217;s) case didn&#8217;t reach a verdict Monday after the defense and prosecution finished their closing arguments.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 36-year-old West Fargo High School English teacher is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student over a period of several weeks in early 2009. He&#8217;s pleaded not guilty to five counts of felony corruption or solicitation of a minor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Knodel and the student testified during the trial.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Knodel was named North Dakota teacher of the year in 2014, before the allegations surfaced. He was suspended without pay when the charges were filed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police in Fargo say the man who they suspect robbed a Gate City Bank over the weekend has been arrested in Minnesota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 34-year-old man was arrested on an initial charge of robbery. Authorities say they used information from the man&#8217;s cellphone to locate him in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where he was taken into custody Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the man entered the bank on South University Drive around 12:20 p.m. Saturday and gave a bank teller a note demanding cash.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man of Litchfield, Minnesota, will remain at the Stearns County Correctional Center until he is extradited to Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An elderly woman from North Dakota who was identified by investigators as the first victim in a Jamaican lottery scam says she lost $300,000 and cashed in her insurance policy.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sanjay Williams is one of 32 defendants charged in a global case that allegedly involves at least 72 victims, most of them elderly. Several defendants have pleaded and others are awaiting extradition from Jamaica. Williams is the first person to go to trial.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eighty-six-year-old Edna Schmeets of Harvey, North Dakota, testified Monday that scammers told her not to tell anybody about the lottery until she collected her prize. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Legislature has decided to take over operations of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawmakers in the House and Senate agreed Monday to spend just over $2 million to buy the center and its assets from the Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan Foundation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature also included $950,000 to operate the center over the next two years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The center opened in 1997. Officials say the foundation has had problems in recent years raising enough money to operate and pay for the facility.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 26-year-old Bismarck woman is dead after a single-car rollover in Burleigh County. The Highway Patrol says the woman failed to negotiate a curve on state Highway 1804 in foggy conditions Monday. Her car went into the ditch, struck an approach, because airborne, landed and rolled before coming to rest on its wheels.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Formal charges are pending against a Grand Forks man who authorities say crashed his vehicle into a house.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 26-year-old man allegedly crashed his pickup truck into two cars, a tree, a fence and then into the home shortly before 6 p.m. Monday. No one was hurt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The driver fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later. He was arrested on numerous charges including reckless endangerment and driving under suspension.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck woman faces charges on accusations she bit a 2-year-old girl under her care.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-eight-year-old Jade Savior was charged Monday with felony child abuse in South Central District Court. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck police say they received a report from someone who said she saw Savior excessively spank and neglect the child. Authorities say they also found a visible bite mark on the child&#8217;s left arm.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Savior is in custody at the Burleigh County Detention Center.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t immediately clear if she has an attorney.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CASSELTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Federal investigators have released hundreds of pages detailing the fiery 2013 oil train derailment near Casselton, North Dakota, that forced 1,400 to evacuate for several days. Interviews with the BNSF workers operating the two trains in the derailment are included in what the National Transportation Safety Board posted online. Everyone aboard both trains escaped unharmed. But just a couple minutes after conductor Pete Rigpl exited the oil train he looked back to see flames engulf the locomotive he had been in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Republican Gov. Jack Dalrymple and the GOP-led Legislature are at odds over how earnings should be budgeted from the state&#8217;s trust fund for oil taxes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature passed a measure this session that bars the governor from considering money from the fund&#8217;s principal when crafting budgets.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple vetoed the legislation but the House voted 67-23 Monday to override the veto. It now goes to the Senate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota voters approved the Legacy Fund in 2010. The fund gets 30 percent of the state&#8217;s oil and gas tax collections. None of the money can be spent until 2017, and only then if the Legislature decides by a two-thirds vote to dip into it.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The fund is expected to top $3 billion this month.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota first lady Betsy Dalrymple is heading to Williston to promote her book.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The book is titled, &#8220;Building a House, Making a Home: A History of the North Dakota Governor&#8217;s Residence.&#8221; It was unveiled in October.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The current Governor&#8217;s Residence has stood since 1960. The prairie-style home is the second official residence that has been built for North Dakota&#8217;s governors. The original Governor&#8217;s Mansion was built in 1884 a few blocks south of the Capitol.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Legislature last week approved a new $5 million home for North Dakota&#8217;s first family, with 20 percent to be funded by private donations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MOTT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A California man is accused of hunting crimes in southwestern North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Myron Rick, of San Diego, is accused of several violations including guiding without a license and exceeding a possession limit. Court documents do not list an attorney for him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rick was caught last fall with more pheasants than legally allowed. He&#8217;s also accused of helping conceal unlawfully taken game.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities used two undercover hunters in the investigation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rick is scheduled to make his initial court appearance in June. He could face more than three years in prison and $13,500 in fines if convicted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &#8211; One of professional wrestling&#8217;s most celebrated performers and promoters, Verne Gagne, has died at age 89.<\/p>\n<p>Gene Okerlund, who was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame with Gagne in 2006, says his longtime friend died Monday in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>WWE says Gagne turned professional in 1950 and won several regional championships before heading to the newly formed American Wrestling Association in 1960.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1960s and 1970s, Gagne became a promoter and eventually became the sole owner of the AWA.
